It pains me to say it, but I don't recall a better 1-2 team than this years' Patriots. Peyton Manning's wet noodle arm is absolutely shocking. Watching him continue to shred defenses when both sidelines know the deep ball is a pipes dream will be great fun

On another note, I found a Bernie Browns jersey for a ridiculous price... Gonna snatch that up!

I would prefer ESPN cover the surprising victories of the Arizona Cardinals, Minny Vikings, etc. than these stupid referees (or the Jets, Tim Tebow, Brett Farve, Roger Clemens, etc etc etc etc). Sportscenter is to sports as Entertainment Tonight is to cinema.

But ESPN doesn't do that so that's why I don't bother watching it anymore.

Watch NFL Network if you want balanced coverage. It isn't really all ESPN's fault, they have to cram in 24 hours of sports into one hour.

Dude, its the best time of Baseball right now yet they still cover football for 90% of their show.

I have cable, so that's not an option for me. I end up watching MLBN for the majority of my non-event sports TV.

Wait... was that a joke?

NFL Network sucks this season. It's just a circle jerk over big market teams. They don't ever cover the Dolphins and they only show one play from some of the best games of the week. Dolphins-Jets and Indy-Jax only got passing mentions even though they were the two best games of the week.

It's like they only look at the stat lines and never actually watch the games before they talk about it.

I was in stitches seeing this!!!!

How will I know how Danica is doing without ESPN?

It's the same thing in with TSN in Canada, baseball playoffs coincide with the first month of the NHL season (probably not this season...), and the baseball games get a quick 45 second run-down, while Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver games get a 2 minute highlight segment, and a bunch of interviews and "analysis". Especially if it's a Toronto game and they either lost big time, or lost a one goal game from some blatant player or coaching error.

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL... we got Browns at Ravens. The Ravens played back on Sunday night. Think the Ravens will have enough juice to take down the Browns at home tonight?

ESPN never tells me something I don't already know.

Rachel Nichols: "I talked to Mark Sanchez before the game and he told me, 'I am not focused on Tim Tebow. My job is to go out there and be quarterback so I'm focused on our playbook and putting some points on the board.' Back to you in Bristol."

HARD HITTING STUFF.

Football cliches don't hold a candle to hockey cliches. "We're gonna send it over to John Lu in Montreal"

"Thanks, I spoke to Tomas Plekanec before the game, and he said that to win game 5 the Canadiens need to get pucks to the net, play a full 60 minutes, and stop taking bad penalties."

I'm surprised that nowhere in that statement did he say the Habs need to score more goals than the other team.

Try some of the original programming. 30 for 30 is a good place to start.

30 for 30 is great, but it was only supposed to be a one-year thing (ESPN's 30th anniversary). I think they are going to keep it rolling anyways though (smart choice).

My major gripe is with Sportscenter. NFL Live, NBA Fastbreak, MLB Tonight can also be unbearable most of the time. ESPN is awful for analysis. Monday Night Football has the worst announcers of any NFL telecast. Sunday Night Baseball used to be really bad when it was John Miller and Joe Morgan - the current crew is only half-decent because Bobby Valentine isn't involved anymore.

Browns at Ravens on deck. About to kick off at the top of the hour.

Good luck to all of your team(s) this weekend, including CLE at BAL tonight.

It is like Houston Michell of the LA Times puts it, quoting Bill Plaschke(emphasis added), "Three weeks of gross incompetence by unqualified replacement officials crystallized in two moments Monday night that pushed the league's integrity to the brink.

In one moment, Packers safety M.D. Jennings clearly intercepted a final-play pass while falling upon Seahawks receiver Golden Tate in the end zone, preserving an apparent 12-7 Green Bay win.

In the next moment, the replacement officials ruled that Tate had made the catch, and upheld that ruling after replay review, giving the Seahawks a 14-12 victory.

Said Packers Coach Mike McCarthy: "I've never seen anything like that in all my years in football."

Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman tweeted: "These games are a joke."

It's finally happened. After three weeks of forgetting the rules, losing track of the ball, and haphazardly administering this country's national pastime as if they were salesmen on vacation from Foot Locker, the replacement officials have finally done serious, irrevocable damage. The arrogant NFL's middle-school and small-college substitutes for the locked-out regular officials have finally, actually, literally made one wrong call that decided the outcome of a game."

It is about time that the regulars came back...

This probably has no relevance coming from me, but you guys are really beating a dead horse. The deed is done, and the hopes of us all have come to fruition. The scrubs are gone, the regulars are back. I just wonder how long before we start complaining about them again, just like the old days.

And all the worldwide soccer matches. Wait... They actually do a pretty good job of that.

That's why I said non-event programming. They show EPL and La Liga matches in the morning and then never talk about it again.

I'm in shock that a real sports fan is defending Sportscenter.

In better news: my cable company finally reached a deal with NFL Network so I now get NFLN and RedZone at my place. Score! :sly:

I'm going to call DirecTV and complain till they give me Sunday Ticket. We've been a customer for almost 10 years dammit!

edit
Lol, seriously?

Baseball is America's national past-time. Football is its present-time.

I'm in shock you inserted Sportcenter into my count about the network. Actually, I'm not. I'm the one that suggested original programming, remember? Relax my friend. Can I send you some chrome or mattes or something?

"Real fan" has nothing to do with it, but I've worked as a Sports Journalist (newspaper) been to the World Cup, 5 different World Series, more than 70 PGA and Senior PGA Events, 3 dozen Indy Car and NASCAR events, NCAA Final Four, NBA and NFL playoffs, MLS Cup, NHL Playoffs and more.

Compare ESPN soccer coverage today to 10, 20, 30 years ago and it's miles better. The Sportscenter content is appropriate for the sports' viewership ratings no?

Babe Ruth is without a doubt the best lefthander in history. Among the top hitters of all time AND he was an excellent pitcher.

And what the *%>€ are you going on about who I think is doing quality work? The first Sportscenter I watched more than 10 minutes of was the one after the Seattle Green Bay game, simply because I was still in shock.

I also posted how Sportscenter gives soccer the appropriate amount of air time for the ratings SOCCER receives in this country. Not on ESPN only, but Fox Soccer Channel, Gol TV, regional networks, NBC, etc.

How you interpret that and other posts to mean I am somehow defending the show as a whole is quite amazing. I suppose if one completely misunderstands the importance of the botched touchdown call which gave the Seahawks a win, you have to do something.

Back to the NFL --- Andrew Luck jerseys are ALL OVER Indianapolis. Apparently his jersey is at times the #1 selling jersey nationwide depending on the week. Please note, I did NOT get that information from ESPN in any fashion.
