NFL General Discussion

Buccaneers are planning to hire Rutgers Coach Greg Schiano and I for one hope that it doesn't happen. Schiano is already the most successful coach in the school's 142 year history of College Football and it will be sad to see him leave.

That's not saying much though. Rutgers was never known to have the greatest football team out there and Schaino's best years were his 1st 2 when they had better players

There are some positives in this Pro Bowl. And I will list them in order of importance.

1)At half time we got to see interviews from Manning and Brady
2)Cam Newton is scrambling.

That is all

Oh, and it IS some form of football.

I wish they'd just hand it to Lynch so he can run into everybody and knock them all to the ground on his way for a beastly touchdown.

The Pro Bowl is a joke. It's like watching a scrimmage.

This is spot on. I never watch it. Went over a friend's last night to drop something off and he had it on, but wasn't watching. I took a quick look and saw the linesmen patting each other like it was flag football. lol

AND SUPERBOWL WEEK KICKS OFF!!!!

Just a few more days till the big one.

I bought these over the weekend:

It did get kinda chippy at the end though. They played Newton pretty close to a real game. When have you ever seen a QB get sacked in the Pro Bowl?

Can we go back to just one week between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl? About once every ten years they revisit the idea, but it always goes back to a 14-day layover.

No matter what the media mavens want you to believe, there's never enough information to span a week, so they have to inflate the hype on the most trivial things to make a story.

I think you can forget it. For one they want as healthy a team as possible on the field for the SuperBowl. But I'm with you. I don't want to take a chance and watch a SuperBowl where one or both teams are showing signs of rust out there.

They're showing the 91' Superbowl right now. I remember that day so clear. I had just got out the Army, just starting college. I was with my highschool sweetheart who was going to Boston University. We were in her dorm "watching" the game ;) ;). She started crying because she thought they were going to recall me. I had to "console" her, meanwhile I'm trying to listen to this game. LMAO

I had so many dreams back then. And a good girl by my side. WTF happened?!?!?!?
1986
LOL Now that I think about it. Alot of major life moments for me revolve around Giants superbowls. 1987 I decided to join the Army. Already told you about 91. 2000 season was the year I started my own business. 2007 is when I realized it's not going to sustain itself.
Now I wonder what this one's going to bring.

Well, win or lose, hopefully you'll have a good year. I rooted somewhat for the Giants last time around, since my Dolphins' 1972 perfect season was on the chopping block, although honestly, a part of me wasn't going to be too saddened by their record disappearing...after all, they hadn't won a Super Bowl in 35 years (approaching 40 now), figuring that link to the past could stand to be severed if they're going to move forward.

Does anyone expect something from this game, like a last second touchdown or a winning drive in the last seconds of the game?

I really think the Patriots will clutch this in the 3rd if they play well... The Giants had to try hard to knock off the 49ers, and they played HORRIBLE.

Cheers to a 500+ Yard night for Brady and Green-Ellis!

I agree with one week between the conference finals and the superbowl. The other sports seem to manage. I just find it a little silly that NFL countdown was on TV for 4 hours last week...with no game to count down to. I guess I can't say because I've never played much football, but if I were to go 2 weeks without playing a hockey game I'd be a bit rusty. However, I guess they practice every day leading up to up to the superbowl, which could keep the cobwebs off.

I would imagine it would be hard going up against one of the top 5 defenses in the league. It's not like they were playing the Walmart Night staff team.

That :)

I don't care about "The Rematch Mk.2", I'm just watching this for the Avenger's TV spot. Both teams had ref help to get to where they are, so quite frankly this game is tainted already. Although I have to appauld the 49ers for their amazing turnaround this season. Going from dead last in the division last year to second in the conference is a worthwhile effort that must be rewarded. Congrats, Jim Harbaugh.

Ref help? The Giants had absolutely zero ref help against the Packers.

I'm not saying against the Packers am I? Or did you forget who they played against in the NFC Championship game.

The Niners lost the game and it had nothing to do with the refs. It had to do with Kyle Williams not fielding the ball properly.

Between that and Alex Smith and his 2-13 3rd down percentage. (Or something similar. I know it was bad)

I thought the refs were pretty fair for the few Playoff games I saw.

If I remember correctly, their first 3rd down conversion came after like 11 other attempts, and it just so happened that the defense was playing real deep because the half was almost over. So a little dump off pass was enough.

According to a press conference earlier today, here are two things I picked up on.

* Here are the next three venues of the Super Bowl:

Super Bowl XLVII: New Orleans, LA
Super Bowl XLVIII: East Rutherford, NJ
Super Bowl XLIX: Glendale, AZ

* The NFL wants to continue to play a Regular Season game in London. Next season's match in London will be Rams vs. Patriots.

Just wanted to offer some chatter.
