Love the Leader of the Pack video. So many nice cars. Is the gen.2 997 GT3 RS confirmed? It would seem a shame for NFS to have the license in HP and not have it extend to SMS.

Have this been posted?

Q&A on Forzacentral?

http://www.forzacentral.com/forum/need-speed/36893-shift-2-q-sms-ea-answers-page-2-a-2.html

If this one is really true:

Have some tracks been widened (for example Bathurst)? What’s the reasoning?
-The tracks have not been widened. CAD data is used and they use driver feedback for any modifications, mostly by “feel”. They’ll change the elevation of a section or turn. In the case of Bathurst, areas where 3 cars can fit door to door on the track, it’s the same in the game. They also have to take what they’ve built back to the track organizations for approval.

..I redraw all my comments regarding track width and approve everybody who insisted that increased track-width in initial replays was result of the wide field-of-view in cockpit-cam.

Great Q&A there, every imaginable question answered, now we only have to wait for one more week.

Mannn........I think I am canceling my pre-order for a morning pickup on the 29th. I will be the first one in line at the game counter at midnight at Walmart instead. I did the same for GT5, played for 5 hours and was like wtf. I don't think that will happen this go around. 8 more days baby, and counting.

Go Shift go. Putting the pressure on them. It will be very interesting to see all the critics give Shift 2 its due credit if it towers over GT5. Damage wise, without even playing it, GT5 loses hands down. At this point the only thing GT5 has over Shift is car quantity and physics. I can't say dynamic weather because GT5 loses to F1 2010 in that department hands down.

Not concerned about the car quantity at all. I will probably only use 15 or fewer as my favorites to dry regularly. It doesn't take 1000+ cars to make a great game. More than half of them are duplicated and or ported cars with different graphics anyways. At least Shift did not do this. You add a little bit of everything in lower numbers. And its not bias toward Japanese car manufactures.

That's a great Q and A. There's not really that much else to know without having it in your own hands, it's pretty much whether the experience jives with what you're looking for in a game now.

This question and answer from the forzacentral makes me happy. :D

How many garage slots are there?
-There are no slots now. You can fill it with any cars you like. And you can have multiples of the same model. That’s handy for one model with 3 different setups or in various stage of upgrades in different classes.

Shift 2 looks pretty badass.

With this and Forza 4 coming up, Polyphony needs to start paying attention to the competition. I love Gran Turismo, and it's still unique in some ways, but in most ways it's being surpassed.

Unfortunately Poliphony are no more the same Poliphony of 6 years ago. They are getting older and demotivated all together. they already have lot of money and honestly it seems they don't care too much about fixing and adding all the common sense features we are asking for. Furthermore the last Japanese earthquake/tsunami/nuclear issue is a BIG trouble for the whole Japan, so they are not thinking about videogames now, who knows when life come back to normality over there. Poliphony future? Who knows.
Meanwhile I think we all need to recon new companies, I really hope SMS with Shift 2 will set a new standard, and next year probably rFactor and GTR series will come back stronger as ever with rFactor 2 and GTR3. It seems will find a new Gran Turismo with another name somewhere else.

I didn't see an answer to a very important question answered:

Can we use the horn since there is no high beam? :D

As if anyone's going to move over in the first place! :grumpy: Just count yourself lucky they don't shunt you off track as you go past them...

A bit surprised their wasn't a wheel for the Xbox or PS3.

Edit. My mistake the author wanted to use a pad.

There's an answer to the rather interesting question of how the FFB feels that I found a bit strange:
"The FFB felt pretty good on the pad on the xbox"
Does the Xbox have an FFB pad, or are they pulling our collective leg

honestly does this have to e a GT5 bashing thread I think its great that we have GT5 and are getting a game like Shift 2 its easy to bash a game even when the newer one hasnt even been released

I'm guessing by FFB he meant the rumbling and such. Technically, it's feedback provided to you by the means of forces, I suppose...

Ahhh... Right. I thought sim racers had a different view of what FFB is though

Anyway, I'm hoping the FFB will hold up to the general expectations, matching the other aspects of a convincing racing experience... :scared: We'll see in 8 days!

I wouldn't call it bashing... Its new, it seems hot and I for one need to change after months of GT5 exclusively. I won't sell it tho. I still need to reach lv40 on A-SPec and buy that elusive Nissan r92cp

OK, I also play Top Darts with friends :)

That crash video is crazy, that is as good as anything I have seen from grid where crashing is concerned, shows how awful gt5 is.

It's only a 'bash' if you don't want to consider the possibility that, in many aspects of a racing game, GT5 compares very poorly... And GT5 compared very poorly at some things even with Shift 1, let alone S2U.

There's a thread over on the GT5 sub-forum that started out as a 'what features from S2U/Shift would improve GT5' but it rapidly devolved, as so many GT5 players seem to think that either GT5 CAN'T be improved, or that adding S2U features would mean removing stuff that is ALREADY good in GT5...

Let's try and keep this one on track... but there is bound to be a comparison, and, if one or the other has better features, don't label it a 'bash'. It's just reality, unfortunately creeping in on our fantasies!

Please don't turn this into a chat thread, the AUP is quite clear that we do not allow that here at GT Planet.

The video will be up when its up, if you need something to do while you wait we have more than enough threads on the site to keep you occupied.

Scaff

Is not all Nordschleife. It's a short gameplay driving Nissan GTR-R35 with pad. I think you will like it.
Ah,,when you drive over grabel marble you can hear sound different and vibration pad

Hey denis74, did you get a chance to play shift 2 unleashed with the gamepad? If so how was the steering, because in Shift 1 there was so much steering lag it was pretty much unplayable.

For example, if you moved the analog stick to the right, it would take the driver ingame time before it actually responds to your action and turns the wheel right.

Thanks!
