I can't pull myself away from it to practice for these races!

I have exactly the same, after last Saturday night in the Sunday morning i felt like something came in into my head
alienatack.gif
i did sleep for 11 am and from that time couldn't force my self to turn on shift. And instead of playing something else I'm watching Mayday Air Crash Investigations .... there where a lot's of crashes to investigate.

I think I might be on race pace though because at Willow Springs, I managed to get a 1:19 after 3 laps in the Lambo Murc and I know exactly where I can improve.

Ohh man you have to improve from 1:19 to like 1:11 if you thinking about keeping the pace :sly:

Ok thats true... I read MrB's time as 1.17
Oh dear...

Once you get the racing line memorized it's fairly easy to run in the 1:13 -1:15 range's with the Zonda, Z06 Corvette and the Murcielago. But this track is very unforgiving when you put a tire off the tarmac. When that happens on the off-camber corners, you get pulled into the run-off area and you lose huge amounts of time.

To me, Willow Springs is one of the tracks where you really feel the sense of speed in this game the most. It's a great, but tricky and unforgiving track.

WOW that Elise is fast round the SECA, it feels so fast from bend to bed i am having to drive with one hand to keep up with the gears on the H shift on my g25.
Nice choice.

This series promises to be exciting, seems like we are all getting more revved up as race day approaches. hope you like adrenalin, lol. I still cant decide between zonda or murcie, lap times are virtually identical, maybe i'll just flip a coin on race day, both cars have strengths and weaknesses.

Laguna should be memorable, the Lotus is an awesome handling little machine.
Ambush canyon :) honestly i believe this to be anyone's race, so much room for chaos and disaster. high speed off balance turns, intimidating track in any car.

Hopefully, I should be able to make the races on Saturday.

The only thing I worry about is lag/slowdown issues like we had last week. Today I raced arvore & MrB52 and one other guy in manufacturers cars with no slowdowns whatsoever. It was just like racing in single player mode, and a lot of fun.

I'll be very surprised if the Willow Springs and Laguna Seca races go smootly with all that speed. If we do have problems we should either just split the group in half and have two hosts each weekend or only run manufacturer's car races which is apparently easier on the processor.

As much as I like tuning the cars, I'd rather have the full group race together in slower cars, than two halves racing seperately in fast cars.👍

Me too i think we shoul consider for future events the inclusion of manefacturers races, racing would be more even and close so much more exciting...

I agree Manny would be best to keep everyone in same lobby.
My internet service is quite good, and i will bypass router and go to modem direct, hopefully this will eliminate any lag problems.

just drive willow springs in the murcielago LP640 and at first i wondered what you were all talking about with the car jumpin and then it happened and didnt stop happening.
It is bad at times but there are ways to go over the patches in the track with out the car jumping.

Yeah, that's what I have to do too. Just try to avoid them, and above all avoid hitting them with both front wheels. :ouch:

Yea but the hard part is avoiding them while side by side with someone  all i am going to do is not take any chances if some one is in my line i am just going to hold off and tuck in behind them until i have a better chance to pass.

I was racing my friend today and he hit the bump and flipped his car up into the air and over the top of mine, i really wish you could save online race replays so i could watch it from another perspective it looked so cool when i was driving just seeing this Zonda R flipping over the top of mine .

I too have found Willow Springs particularly bad, I avoid it like the plague when playing Shift but I guess for a race meet, we're all in the same boat.

Aside from the bumps (moguls is really a better description), Willow is a fun, challenging track. On the other hand, when you are several laps into a race it really is a drag to find yourself airborne and heading for the tire wall. Unfortunately, there's no parachute upgrade in the game.

Now there's an upgrade I'd go for, better than the seam welded chassis

Did you notice Manny, the other day when we were running on Willow Spring in the manufacturers race in the S4. I ran over every patch where the bumps were and I didn't feel any bumps at all. It may be because of the stiffer suspension on the up-graded car that is problem with the bumps.

Yeah agreed i also think the stock cars(without extreme upgrades) behave in a more realistic way and allow a much more competitive and even online racing and thats whats this league is all about no?
If the goal is fastest times you have to fully upgrade your car and we already have the R.T TT competition where we can fully upgrade a car and go for top lap time in TT mode alone in the track and giving several goes to put a perfect lap no matter how manny mistakes we did in the process...and that is also very nice and from now on i will deff. give it a try.

But in online races speccially in long races like we did at SPA(10 laps) it's all about consistency and control of the machine avoiding any mistakes while not being to conservative to keep going fast...and thats much more possible with stock cars...
My suggestion is that tomorrow after all the schedulled races we give this a try and work the league format based on the conclusions reached by the community, never the less Manny pulled up this event-Which we all are greatfull,i'm sure- so the last word on rules and format should be his and i'm sure we all(or almost all) will abide to them so i'm just proposing we give it a try and brainstorm on that...💡

No problem. Any type of racing you guys want to do is all right with me. As long as She Who Must Be Obeyed doesn't have anything imperitive for me to do, I'm sure I'll be up for a few Manufacturer Races after the main event tomorrow.

I don't like race a slow cars, my absolutely favorite is Unrestricted area and Tier 5, like Zonda R, DBR9. But if we must use a slower cars in order to avoid slow downs then i will follow conclusion based after tonight races.

The slower cars are much harder to drive in my opinion and require far more finesse and driving ability. With stock tier 1 cars, it is all about keeping momentum and picking the absolute perfect line or lots of time will be lost. There is no get-out clause through massive acceleration or unbelievable grip. I guarantee you won't get a fast time sliding one of those around the corners!

Sorry guys but i cant guarantee to be there tonight, it is my wifes birthday and we will be going out for a meal this evening, i will rush her and try to get back in time :sly:

Get her to race, we all know she's faster than you

The details are a page or two back Mr V, which raises a good point. Manny, do you think you could edit the first post each week to contain details of the weeks regulations, it would save people searching through the thread which is getting quite long now 👍

I agree! Some of my closest and most exciting have been in my Focus ST. 👍
Can't wait 'till tonight. I had better get practicing... a lot!
I don't really know my way around Willow Springs and Ambush Canyon. At all!

Am I right in saying that you can't buy two of the same car...? Just before I sell my works GT500. :)

Willow springs only really makes super cars jump like the lambo or the zonda simply because of how low they are and the down force they naturally produce.

Think of it this way when you leave the last corner heading for the finish line you in speeds exceeding 150mph, now hitting a pebble in a car like that at that speed feels like a house brick.

I have found now that i can get round willow springs as fast as i like and not get any lift, at first i hated the bumps but now i have a way round them i find willow springs presents a hole new challenge and has made it a lot more fun to drive on for me.
