Nissan or Toyota?

Um, AE86s were popular here when drifting started out a few years ago because you could buy them off old people who had used them as shopping carts for a 2 or 3 grand plus parts for them were easy to come by and cheaper compared to other imports. These days, even an unregistered one will go for over 5 grand and a road legal one for a lot more.

To me, if you want an 80's 4AGE RWD Toyota an AW11 is by far a better choice, they look cool and don't fetch the kinda premium that an AE86 does and are extremely fun.

How can you say it's "hype" if you don't live the 86 life?.

Hmmm I think it's the other way around, actually... When you live "that" life, you're unable to see the hype surrounding it. When you're very much "into" something, so much that it's become a lifestyle, then of course you tend to lose some objectivitity on the matter...

Remember, all I'm saying is that there are other alternatives that may be just as good out there that people don't see, because they haven't got the publicity or cult status that the Corolla has.. and that IMO makes the car "hyped up". Hyped doesn't mean bad...

Damn, this is just taste for some OBJECTS. Cars are not people, they're almost the same as bicycles man. Just with a higher price tag. Dont take it this serious.....:scared:

As for the Supra thing VS skyline: Who knows?! I mean, what track do you talk about? I'm sure both the skyline and the supra could win, depending on what kinda race you would do:)
First think about that before you go say it's bull....or the skyline is gonna win every race...

Edit: BTW no thinking about what race we're talking about, because it's drifting.
Continue on the drift topic, but please stop with the race things.

Time for DRIFTING again:)👍

Finally, someone who gives a decent answer 👍 :)

We did a Supra vs. Skyline race in Chris' WRS race at my team (the link in my signature)

The difference was only 0.3 seconds, the Skyline won but it was on Seattle, one of the more technical tracks.

We could also conclude that the Skyline would do better on a technical track and the Supra would do better on a track with more straits.

What's the big deal anyway!

Drifting=fun!

You guys are all fighting about the best drifting cars? Drifting is about fun, not how fast you do it. A fast half-drift is nothing compared to a bad-ass, full of smoke drift

Roger that, so if anyone chooses nissan, it's because he thinks they're more fun. BTW I think that Nissans are more fun for me too:):P;)

And Toyota's more fun to me :)

Ok folks, so just tell:

"I think Nissan is more fun"

or

"Toyota is most fun so Toyota"

Not: "Hell no, Nissan, what crap!!"

or

"Toyota?, I rather drive a Lada!"

This is a hard question for me to answer.

Nissan has the Silvias, Zs, and Skylines.

Toyota has the Supra, and the AE86.

To be honest I couldn't pick between the two, however, my initial feeling is that Nissan has the upper hand.

The Silvia is great for drifting.
The Z is great for racing.
The Skyline is great for both.

On the other hand...

The Alteeza is mediocre with everything in this game.
The Supra is great for both drifting and racing.
The AE86 is also great for both (contrary to what people may think).

In the end I would have to say "undecided."
Both companies have great cars to contribute even though I'm leaving a few out.

The best thing I can say to do in a situation like this is test each individual car on your own and pick which ones you like the most.

The thing to remember in this is that most of the cars in question are made with different intentions.
For example, the AE86 is probably the best car of the entire group when a true "stage 1" tuning is used.
On the other hand, the Skyline is probably the best with full tuning or without any tuning at all.
However, the Supra would be my pick for the best at mid-level tuning.

If I had to place these 6 cars into an ordered set ...
1) Skyline R34
2) AE86
3) Supra RZ '97
4) 350 Z
5) Silvia (S14 as it is the best of the silvias IMO)
6) Alteeza

Of course, that's just my opinion. :D

Go for both id say... Nissan has Silvias which i love to drift but Toyota have nice looking cars... like, Celicas are cool no matter which one of em, supra and altezza damn nice cars both of em :)

buuut, i gotta choose so my signature says enough ;) 👍

What an idiot!

You ever seen Peter Blach's Supra?

No? Ok, until that time, don't tell us crap :yuck:

Toyota all the way, it's easy, they got the best engines in the world!

Ask all the people who saw what Jeremy Clarkson in Top Gear did with a Toyota Hilux . After you seen that, you'll never doubt about it again.

Say your opinions about cars and not other people. And first of all if you compare two cars make sure they're in the same class. The Supra ur talking bout is tuned and if a skyline would be tuned too It would beat the **** out of the supra in a race. Top speed,HP,performance is toped by skyline when it's compared with a supra.

PLus on straights the skyline woud smoke supra. It's an AWD. The top speed of the skyline is higher than Supra's. The best tuned skyline ever made was tested in Japan last year. It put up a record only 3secs behind a Ferrari Race car. Most supras are RWD, which only gives a push. The AWD gives a push and a pull. That's why AWD's are used in rally races.

Sarunas, are you aware you are telling bull**** here?

There are about 50 versions of the Skyline, probably your so stupid comparing a special version to a normal Supra because the top speed of the Skyline is only 1mph faster as the Supra! (Supra 155 mph, Skylnie 156 mph)

Supra 0-60 mph: 4.9 sec.
Skyline 0-60: 5.0 sec.

Are you sure you are telling about the R34 and about some R34 V-spec II MNP Nur N1 crap?

I'm a big fan of the earlytomid 90's MR2s, supras, old celicas, rwd trueno, mrs and other toyota sportscars... and same with Nissan Skylines and the silvias. The only reason I'm going with Nissan is because the skyline gtrs and silvias are very very rare on the east coast of America... i dont know about west. I see lots of toyota sportscars though.

WTF where are the skylines and silvias on the east coast? lol... I've seen more ferraris than silvias and i've only seen 2 skyline ever in real life.

Oh damn shut up about that skyline and supra crap:dunce:
Sarunas this is what you were right on:
Say your opinions about cars and not other people

But when you said this:
And first of all if....*and the other bla bla bla*

It turned out to be WRONG

You both better stop the crap now cause this isn't helping anyone, not even the skyline:dunce:
Your sure very single-minded if you compare the best tuned Skyline in the world to a stock Supra dont you get that:irked::banghead:

It's the same as comparing Ferrari to Lamborghini or whatever. Who would win, I DONT HAVE A CLUE but dont tell me you know the skyline beats the supra for sure AND TEH SAME for the other way around. I mean....Toyota isn't flaming Nissan, Nissan isn't flaming Toyota, why the hell would YOU!?

Never ending discussions are stupid....:banghead:

hehe. Alot of people in this forum look for opportunities to be hostile...

maybe there could be some type of toyota club vs nissan club online battles in gt5. I think toyota's sold more cars overall. I'm not sure who's had more success in motorsport. But this thread is just about opinions it seems except a few are trying to get all objective :)
If so than give more statistics!! When i'm bored it would be an interesting read.

Mad Murphy NZ
Toyota and Nissan fans are supposed to hate Honda not each other... :D

 Nice one! Seriously though I like both Nissan and Toyota about equal. They both make (or made) some of my favorite Japanese cars. Drifting-wise though, I'll have to go with Toyota, (so many kick-a** FRs) (Hops in AE86) :D

if a toyota supra was so good den y isnt der an m-spec nurburg version of it? in japan isnt there a topsecret tuned supra with a nissan rb26dett engine? n who one tha jgtc? wasnt it a nissan?

Yes

Both of the Supra's Top secret have now have had the 2JZGTE removed and swapped, one has a RB26DETT the other has 3SGTE.

Overall I prefer Nissan but Toyota have some great cars too.

Yes Top Secret Also has a V35 GT-R,
The car Holds The VK45DE-based twin-turbo V8 and uses two HKS Turbine Items, GT2835's i believe, it produces about 800 HP, (I think).

Nagata-Son from Top Secret trully will Tune any Engine.

The VK45DE twin turbo in the V35 produces 720ps, the Supra with the RB26DETT (picture above) produces 1000ps.

Because Toyota did not make a road version of the car that raced at the Nurburgring 24H race ( If they raced at all ). Also, The M-Spec Nurb was a tribute to R34's, hence that it why it was created. Toyota did not make any "tribute" cars.

The vehicle that won the JGTC was perhaps a Nissan. But was not a road certified vehicle. It did not have ATTESA-ETS, and was RWD, unlike the standard AWD GTR.
Engineering was done to such a far extent that I wouldn't call it a GTR anymore, but more like a car that looks similar to a GTR.

And down to the bare bone fact. It's the driver that determines the winner most of the time, not the manufacturer.

There's nothing really special or clever about 1000hp Skylines and Supras, we all know it can be done and plenty of people have done it. The fact is, it's far too much power for racing or driving on the streets.
