I have just left for work but cannot wait to get home to get stuck-in to No Man's Sky. It was downloaded and updated for hours last night but locked until 00:00. It unlocked just as I went to bed which was quite frustrating!

Exploration is my favourite thing in a game and I scour every corner of every game. I explore in racing games too so Assetto Corsa is next on my list!

Enjoy No Man's Sky guys.

Really wishing that they could port this over to the XONE (and, while they're at it, Uncharted 4) some day.

Console exclusivity kills.

It was a while ago that I read about it, but I believe it was an issue involving Microsoft having an indie game clause which states games must be released on Xbox at the same time as other platforms. And since the game has had a lot of backing from Sony, there's no way that was happening.

I got a short play through before I had to go to work this afternoon. I found myself on a lush planet, a little cool at just above 0°c, and lots of interesting wildlife. I got all the bits and pieces I needed to fix my ship, but then the game froze on me... but other than that, I had a blast exploring around. I can't wait to see what else is out there.

My first planet, nice at night and a hell-hole temperature wise during the day, did have some cute little alien creatures hanging around. Had to off two greenpeace bots to get the stuff my ship needed.

Still my second planet made it look like nice (as that had acid rain and giant Mushroom type planets), but I did meet my first alien dude on it

Then I had an excursion to its moon and found a pot of GOLD (well a huge building size boulder of it).

My planet is very brown. Looks like a desert. Cactus included. Nice temperature range though. Plus 20 something daytime and minus 5-6 at night.

Big gold rocks as well. I shot a hole though one of them so I could walk though it. :D

I also thought I could sidestep the fix the ship bit by using the pre order ship but no luck. It's engine was in the same state as the crashed ship. :banghead:

I can understand the technical limitations of voxels + physics, but it's still a bit disappointing to hear you can't fly super low to the ground and through canyons on your own manual control, or crash into the landscape.

I'm afraid I have no sympathy on that one, being made to wait a year for Rise Of The Tomb Raider has made me all bitter and twisted

Waiting for the postman to bring NMS sucks :boggled:

I'm sure they would utterly hate the idea of making money off their competitor.
Really? So they should do something that puts money directly in Microsoft's pocket via the cut each console manufacturer makes for games on their own system and do something that would generate Xbone sales as well?
Anymore good ideas?

You have a green planet! I want a green planet!

So...anybody have some thoughts to share about the game so far? Curious to see how GTP people are enjoying it. So far, based on what I've seen, I don't understand why it isn't a cut-price digital title rather than full-priced and retail.

YES ! it's here :D now just waiting for V1.03 to download and install, wonder if I'll get to try it before I have to go out for the afternoon :nervous:

My starting planet :) . Lots of plants and colourful mineral resources, but not as many animals as you might expect on a garden-like planet like this

Daytime: Right around freezing. Predominantly blue and green colors. The mineral deposits can be quite colorful. I should go back there tonight and make a screenshot of those.

Nighttime brings a wonderful orange color in the sky and Northern light-like green hues. I was stunned for a while when I first saw it:

Temperatures go to about -25°C to -30°C during the night. Right about on the edge of needing hazard protection.

Meh, Xbox one has Elite Dangerous . Maybe someday Sony can get that, and we will get NMS. 👍

Frontier, the Devs of Elite Dangerous, confirmed ages ago that it would be released on PS4 when the timed exclusivity deal expired. Considering it released on XB1 in October last year, I would imagine that exclusivity period would be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Usually it's around a year for timed exclusives.

As for NMS on XB1. Sean has stated a couple of times that they would consider porting it to XB1 in future. So I'm expecting ED on PS4 by the end of this year, and NMS on XB1 possibly mid to late next year, all things going well.

My starting planet sounds like it was a little more difficult than some of yours, temperatures constantly required hazard protection, running well below zero. Still, I was able to survive alright. Got my ship repaired and have already visited the only other planet in my solar system (mild weather, lots of carnivores) and its moon (toxic rain). The local race is the Korvak. I've bought a new multi-tool with 8 slots I think and have upgraded the exo-suit to fill the whole page with slots. Does anyone know if you can get more pages worth of slots on the exo-suit? Carrying capacity still seems a little small.
I haven't built a warp drive yet, I was thinking I'd buy a better ship first instead. Of course, the better ships I've encountered so far are just north of $1mil so I have some saving to do.
Has anyone got any tips for finding every animal species on a planet? Doing so is worth a lot of money. I have 5/8 on one planet.

I'm really enjoying this so far, although it took me longer than I care to admit to figure out how things work. My first planet was a baron wasteland and didn't look nearly as lush and exotic as some of the other planets I've seen. Not a whole lot else to say really, I've just been flying around a lot trying to make sense of things.

Got my pre-order paid through steam last night. Looking forward to this one! Would be nice if I could explore with a buddy or two but happy with some solo runs. Plenty of squad action coming with the new Battlefield on the horizon.

So once you're in the game, is there a storyline that drives your exploration, goals, purpose?

I was really hoping to wait on getting this game but you guys and your pictures/updates aren't helping. :nervous:

Keep them coming anyway. :gtpflag:

edit - quick question: Can you make multiple saves?

Just got my hands on a collector edition (PS4) from a colleague at work and looks sick for 80€... After watching a few hours of gameplay and seeing this cool edition, I might buy it. Really into this game despite all the bad things that people have been saying. My expectations were not frustrated from what I've been seeing. I don't want to platinum ot finish this game. I just want to explore it and have the sense of discover something no one has ever seen. The unpredictability is what makes it "magic".

Apparently not. I think there's a trophy for getting to the center of the galaxy?

Storyline, no not really. But there are goals and things to do, at least in the beginning of the game. Such as fix your ship, leave the planet, investigate a signal or things like that. But I suppose those things might be more along the lines of tutorials.

One of the drivers to keep you engaged is discovery, I would say. The desire to see what is on the next planet. And you'll need to keep resources and replenish consumables and whatnot so that keeps you occupied. You may also want to save up for a ship you like.
