And yet developers such as Naughty Dog are capable of achieving much better graphics while keeping pop-in nonexistant and maintaining a near perfect 30FPS.

I'm not knocking No Man's Sky, as I haven't tried it, but clearly it's possible to get more out of the PS4 than they did.

As long as the gameplay is good, then most can be forgiven.
If Uncharted 4 could create an infinite number of procedurally generated worlds which Nate could walk to without ever stopping you might have a point ;)

I nearly died leaving my ship this morning. I looked back and couldn't see it. I looked up and it had landed on top of some tall rocks. Luckily my jet pack got me high enough to get back in!

Apparently someone has already made it to the centre of the galaxy and posted it on YouTube, because of course they have.

You are comparing Naughty dog to a 15 man studio.

Which doesn't change the fact that you can achieve more than what they did, and as such, the hardware wasn't the limiting factor so much as the skill level of the developers as well as the time they had at their disposal.

Is anyone else getting crashes? Yesterday I got 1 hard crash just walking about and a standard crash while using FTL drive.

Edit:just started playing today and 25 mins in another hard crash

I've been playing all evening yesterday and had one crash, also when just walking around.

I like the game so far, only have been on two planets yet and visited one space station.
Start planet was reasonable on the resources only a tad cold, -67 degrees celcius at night and -15 during the day.
Second planet had better temperatures, catalogued about 75% of that planet if I understand the discovery overview correctly.
Beacons, observatories and what not.
Also went back to the start planet to do some more exploring, got a marker for a crashed ship.
When I finally got there, I noticed it was my own crash location :ouch:.

I do hope there are ships in the game that have better fuel efficiency, every time I land I can mine some plutonium as taking off takes about 25% of the supply. :indiff:

Would like some more control over the ship to be honest, because when I see a big rock arch you bet your ass I wan't to fly through that sucker.

The completion % for a planet is only considering the animals as far as I can see.

Minor complaints and wishlist...

1. I wish I could manually land my ship. Hitting a button to land the ship has caused me to land in some pretty bad spots.
2. Don't really see the point of making the mining tool overheat.
3. Can't change temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit.
4. Would love to see the option to have some sort of land vehicle so I don't have to jump my ship each time I want to cover long distances.
5. More interactions with the ship. Things like customizing the color and stuff like that.

So I've been playing this morning.

So far 3 planets in my system called the "Sprite Cluster" the largest being a pretty nice planet. Not overly populated with life but enough to make it fun. Plenty of resources. The temp is stable in the day and drops pretty cold at night but I can last a full cycle outside without my protection being eaten completely as its far enough from its host star. The name given to such a planet... an unoriginal "Sprite Homeworld"

The next planet is a smaller one and is a little more wet with and colder as its quite a distance from the star. The name given to this is "Guybrush" and the last planet of the trio is "LeChuck" and its a hot planet in the day and I can only survive about 20 minutes before burning my protection out. This planet has loads of Plutonium though so worth visiting every now and again for ship fuel.

Some images.

On the first planet, collecting materials to fix the ship and explore...

Planet Guybrush has plenty of things to see and do for the would-be Pirate.

Encountered a little mohawk donning creature yesterday. (I'll upload a picture later)
And found out that if you feed creatures they can give you resources back. Thought that a really cool touch of the game that I did not expect.

Think I flew so much around and I have yet to find any really good resources where I can sell and get a bigger ship.
Keep finding suit upgrades but no so much on the ship front yet. Well I did but for 1.5m units. :/

Made it to my 3rd system. Ive visited a total of 15 planets and all were extreme cold or hot but finally found one this morning with radiation, no life found yet, orange fluid/water lakes.

Anyone find an already discovered planet etc?

I haven't but I did find one that was completely lifeless and had a 100% complete on a planet. Uploaded it and got credit.

I've seen the system next to mine has been discovered by a someone named Spirit_Beef so Shaun's idea that it won't be easy to find people is a little off.

I've just made my first 500,000.

You are right to an extent, but if you have a strong enough PC, you're brute forcing your way out of these issues. And you can't realistically expect every dev to max out the PS4 in every game.

I finally found a planet with some gold.
Well lots of gold. I did a quick 200K off of it. Then I saw a ship land and it's still 1.8M units. Have 400K units.

It's crazy how much some ships cost. I've seen ships well north of 4million units.

The best sources I've found for gold is asteroids. Huge ones too.

I just found myself a planet rich with Vortex Cubes, so it's safe to say I'll be sticking around here for a while. I already got myself up to U1,000,000, a few million more (shouldn't take too long considering how much these things are worth) and I'll find a ship to take me further towards the centre of the galaxy.

I got a planet full of gold. those huge pillars that are like 10 x 10 x 10 thing.
I did some math (If full of gold, 110,000 units. I would have to do about 18 trips or 9 if I use 2 slots of gold) to get one new ship with more storage.

Hurry up steam, I got some units to collect!!! You guys are driving me nuts with these posts. Keep 'em coming. :)

I've got the status of merchant with 1,261,117 units (and I've bought a few suit slots and an upgraded multi-tool), the title of linguist with 95 words and known by the Gek by meeting 3 aliens .... and I haven't even flown my ship yet

Might take me a while to reach the centre of the galaxy at this rate of travel :boggled:

This one is seriously doing my head in. I need a V1 and V2 pass for most of the encampments on my planets.

I'll presume you don't want to know how to get it, so I'll just say this: explore.

"I'm already doing that, fool!" Of course, but, explore.

How do I get steam to pre download? I bought this yesterday but there was no option to start download.
