No SRF Friends Group (link to list in OP)

Public Service Announcement For DS3 Users: Check your ego at the door before adding Mike-ZENKAI to your friends list. Insane lap times, well done. I just went three tenths faster in the VW TT because of you. I'm still behind you though. :(

There are many DS3 users a lot quicker than me. Still need a lot of practice myself.
Regarding the VW TT, I only spend 1/2 hour there up till now, all my play time in Nordschleife 24hr TT.👍

But thanks

Had a quick run at the Nürburging one and did a 9:01 on my second clean lap (I say clean, but my first one had a big spin). There's a good 5 seconds left in my 9:01 as well.

Given up on the TS030 one, there's more time left in my lap, but I don't have the motivation to go out there and find it.

My favorite seasonal was the TS030 one, I only went out for two laps but I still beat most of the people on my list for some reason. Either way, I've improved my lap time by almost ten seconds since then, going out to set a new time today. :)

Practice with the wheel is on the up. I've just re-run through the Goodwood special events and managed to gold them all, even the X2010. :D

I didn't beat any of my DS3 times on them yet though. :indiff:

Also purchased a few pairs of these from ebay to stick on the pedals and heel base.....

Great job!! 👍

When I changed to my G27 I remember thinking (apart from I'm rubbish with this) the potential is there. Throttle control, brake pressure, steering accuracy, all the things I would curse the DS3 over were better. It's like the glass
ceiling has been removed for further improvement. You can be as good as you can be.

I'm not sure if I'm better with the wheel than DS3 yet, but I think I may be. I feel I improve every week.

Are you using manual now? and are you staying with chaseCam? Just curious.

Keep at it!!

I am at 9:10.5xx and the gap is 4 to 9.5 sec!
...and two are running 0 ABS!!, that just plain loco!! :dopey:

Cheers man. The Nürburgring/Lexus combo isn't really my cup of tea though, so I haven't put much time into it (maybe 30-40 minutes- mostly failed attempts ). Would be looking for around 5 seconds if I was prepared to put the time in. 👍

I sliced quite a large chunk off my TS030 time today!!

I'm very happy!! :D :gtpflag:

only took 5 hours!!!

Hope you haven't overtaken me yet, I can't not be top of my friend leaderboard at my favourite track. :scared: :P

@FordMKIVJ5 : I've not overtaken you. I'm close, very very close!! :P

You might want to take a look 👍

@JogoAsobi : Thanks. Both these TT's exposed my lack of track knowledge. Length of track and DQ stop me from quickly getting up to speed. The Nurb is nearly memorised  I'm very happy with my times.

I've played all GT games but only career through once/twice. Complete, then move on to another game.
GT6 is the first I've got into and stayed with 👍

Will have to have a check, sounds like I might need to get back on and find that half a second. :scared:

I am just going to stick with what I know and what works for now, at least until I am fully comfortable and confident with the wheel. I have tried manual and cockpit cam a few times briefly with the DS3 a little while ago, it was quite difficult but I probably could get used to it after some very extensive practice. I cleared a few runs of GTA round 2&3 with cockpit cam also but was 1-2 seconds off my pace.

I Don't drive and haven't driven a car irl for over 20 years so it's not a task that is already naturally instinctive to me, which means switching to manual will be another whole new learning curve when I do try.

👍

I agree, stick with what works best for you 👍

Bumper cam for me. Don't like cockpit cam, I can't see the track well enough.
I think I would need a triple monitor set up for cockpit cam to work for me!!

Uhoh! .030!

Really must get on tomorrow and find some more time.

Haha!!

When I posted that I was close, I was at .382.

Today I had another go and was .6 up on that time, but threw it all away in the last section. Ended with the .339.

Just can't bring my best sectors all together.

I think I'm going to leave it and focus on the Nurb.

These two TT's are fun, but together

I'm the same. The lap I have I nailed everything and then just threw a wobbly in the Porsche curves. Honestly don't know if I'll get back to it though, got some other stuff to do.

Haha you're too kind. sir! To be honest, I have always run the ring on "Feel" which is how I start every new TT, but when I get down to it, I want a braking point for every corner...as of now, I only have a braking point for maybe 30% of the corners, so maybe if I have more time tonight, I'll be able to really throw down! But you aliens with no ABS...what?!?!?

EDIT SO I DON'T DOUBLE POST: OMFG...I don't know how much this is going to change things, but I have always thought that the feedback was really strange in this game. On top of that, I haven't been able to drift with my wheel the entire time the game has been out. Well it turns out I had the sensitivity, which determines how many turns of the wheel make it lock to lock, set to 900...but this setting was made for Forza. I guess GT does it automatically, so having it set that way was just ruining everything. I golded the Brands Hatch drift event first try. I then went to drive in the 700pp Seasonal at Spa, and a car that had previously taken me almost an hour to pilot around Le Sarthe just once without crashing, was SO incredibly easy to handle, that I golded that one first time as well. How fast could I have been on the GT Academy with this setup?!

Interesting!!!

How many turns was the wheel needing to go lock to lock set at 900, and how many turns now? Is it the same amount of turns but a feedback improvement?

Anyway, works better now!! :dopey:

That's the thing; the wheel turns the full 900 degrees, and can't physically go past that, but I am assuming the wheel would try to translate whatever it received to 900 degrees, and since it was already 900 degrees, it just made everything screwy. I could never feel when the wheel got grip, and I could NEVER hold a slide. I always thought my wheel was just terrible for GT6, as the feel was strange even when not drifting, but ever since I changed it...it's been like a completely new wheel.

I might try the Nurburgring TT again and see what I can do...

Try all current TT's again!! :dopey:

I'm happy you found this out...........and also a little worried what you might be able to do now :scared:

After all, it wasn't like you were slow before was it  :nervous:

Seriously though, great job getting it sorted  :gtpflag:

Haha yessir!

Haha, I am really hoping for a drastic improvement, but I really don't know. I always had a bit of an issue trying to feel when my front tires were at the limit, but now I feel like I have spidey sense and can keep the grip in the front...we will see...

Thank you sir, you're awesome...and if I do end up getting ahead of you, I'm sure you'll just log in and decimate that time anyways!

Finally getting used to what v.1.09 did to my wheel...
...knocking on 3:38s door now with a 3:39.138/0 ABS for Toyota TS030. :)

Just want to say, this group has been the best damn thing for improving my times...
...especially the side benefits like learning from the alien wheel users' Tron lines.

@FordMKIVJ5, learned so much from your tron, till it leaves at Mulsanne after 1st chicane.

This thread is awesome because there's no poser BS like I see in so many other threads. 👍

Well said! Couldn't agree more 👍.

I'm sure I wouldn't still be playing if it wasn't for this group. So, thanks everyone. I'm having a great time.

Also looking forward to the community features, we may be able to share easier etc.

Honestly, I see posts in Seasonal threads I have done, that tempts me to say F it at times...
...but just have to let it go, and carry on for the better half of the community.
No matter how its sliced and diced, GT6 is pretty damn cheap entertainment.

Would be great to get a little H-shifter group going for some online jousts.
I have pretty fast connection to www, and router is set up correctly, but...
...I still have lots of issues online, hopefully that gets rectified with time.

Good idea!!

I've never raced online. I've never played anything online  (seasonal TT's don't count) .

Always thought it might be fun to get a few of us together and race a TT combo we had just finished.
Imagine us all trying to get our GT40's round Rome!! through that fast left/right!!

Massive pile up!!!

I'm sure we will sort something at some point.

Absolutely! @JogoAsobi this is absolutely the friendliest place in GTPlanetland. You're all my favorites. I really need to race online, as I am sure there is going to be some of that in New York, and I have almost zero experience...Are any of you guys going to be on any of these nights around 2am PST? I have a crazy schedule. Work from 11:30 - 8:30 or 9:00, training until 10, time with my lady 'til 12:30, time with my pet 'til 1:30...and at that point I have no energy to try to figure out the online lobbies :/

Either way, this group is what kept me going in GT6, and now I'm going to New York! Thank you all.

I think I'm 8 hours ahead of you. So, is that around this time, now? 1.48am with you now?

I might be able to organise myself to be around. Don't know how to set up room but I could show up if told when.

If by New York you mean the GTAcademy National Finals (?) then yes, there will be a lot of racing in the game. As far as I'm aware it makes up the majority of the day, with a few extra real driving, fitness and mental/physical agility tests.

LOL, if someone put you guys in wheelbarrow you would still dominate.

So you don't feel so specially singled out :sly:, would have also mentioned @SW__10,...
and a couple of other's trons for the La Sarthe TT, but PD has seen to it that their lines are gone.

Now I only have 4 tron lines visible from "disappeared" ghosts on La Sarthe of on my FR LB. :odd:
2 of those 4 are you and @SleightyCyrus, and you're the fastest at the moment.

Hope PD sort the lines out for the next TT's.

I think the missing lines are part of the fallout from attempting to fix their starting position.
They now start from the start/finish line for me. But only from people who have improved their time since the fix.
I have no line from @FordMKIVJ5 at La Sarthe for example.

Same on the Nurb TT. No line from @Sum1s2pid, as that time was set pre fix.

However, that does not explain why you can't see my line at La Sarthe!! which I set post fix
