07:26.931 - Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe '06 (DDAAVVIIDD82) BEATEN

With the resurgence of the Viper, I thought I would wring one out and I'm all too familiar with the ACR's mix of aero-induced understeer and neck-snapping power oversteer, so I chose the regular version to find a car that was much more capable than I'd expected. I squeezed that one off my 2nd time around the track after breaking the car in and overhauling it, not being able to beat that during any of the subsequent seven laps.

On the topic of breaking in, I did so by way of an ABS-less Arcade enduro on the Nordschleife so that I could get a good feel of what the car was going to do. Climbed my way through half of the pack when I ended up behind an MP4 headed up the hill prior to Aremburg. Many are well aware of the bowel-loosening effect this hill can induce at high speed when driving the track solo, but I find myself behind the McLaren which is behind a Murcielago (LP-640) wigging out headed up the hill. Smoke fills the air and I soon lose sight of the McLaren that I have yet to pass, only to find it with my passenger side headlight. Through all of this, I still manage to keep the car mostly planted but going way too fast when I remember ABS is off and I lock up the tires. So here I am, barreling down the hill I've just crested and headed toward the tight right-hander with no traction and a seat-cushion suppository when finally my tires grab and I'm able to keep the fronts on the track with the rears throwing all kinds of grass and dirt. Hanging the ass out at 72mph with a car I'm not even the least bit familiar with and a GT-R SpecV trying to drill through my passenger door, I carefully balance pressure between throttle and brake until I get free and head on to the next turn. I hate Lamborghini drivers.

Thanks, and I have to apologize/correct, that should be the '06 (Premium) not the '03 (Standard). The lap time, however, remains the same. mike_gt3, I just wanted to point out that the '03 lacks "Coupe" in its name, that's part of what threw me.

You mean the '03 shouldnt have the ''Coupe'' in its name?

My bad for not updating as often as i should :ouch:, but i posted a 7:22 on post 1907 for the Viper SRT10 Coupe '06.

Dodge Viper SRT10 '03. As you can see, not only does it not have "Coupe" in its name but it isn't a coupe either. ;)

And...D'oh!!! :ouch: Maybe I need to hit the track again and see if I can fudge more of my braking points.

Sorry didnt noticed, i just copied and paste the name from the previous posted laptime and edited my name and time. Thx for the info i will fix this. :)

And sorry for your lap, im sure you can sahve some more second out of it :)

I placed the Buick Special in the 'Racing/Non-production' section. It has 606bhp, I presume it hadn't that kind of power back in 1962 :sly:

No new times comming up next weekend, I'm paying the real life Ring a visit this weekend :sly:;)

Well done Manuel! :)
Only thing is both BMW M5 time will not count as theres already faster laptimes.

Goodluck for your run on the real thing! your lucky!!

Production (all stock)06:57.938 - Bugatti Veyron 16.4 '09 (GTP_Manuelos) BEATEN

Damn, I've been working on the Veyron and I'm a good five seconds slower than that. :grumpy:

I did, however, better my own CTR time and beat the existing CTR2 time.

07:28.914 - RUF CTR2 '96 (DDAAVVIIDD82) BEATEN

A note on the CTR2: A quick adjustment on the brake bias and the differentials (not torque splitter, that was left at 30/70), yielded a time nearly four seconds quicker than the above. Shame on you Alois Jr.

Nice times guys.

Nice, sorry I haven't had time to get any yet, I do have some new times, I can grab some when I get those up.

Nice Californa time.đź‘Ť

Not looking to start a fight here but I find ABS1 to be no more unrealistic than trying to brake in the game without it.
Real life ABS works wonders stoping cars faster and more controlably than the majority of drivers can, that's why almost all cars come with it now. It's because of its benefits that many real life race series don't allow it, not because the drivers are so much better without it.

How you want to drive in game is up to you but please don't get all superior about how not using ABS means your more realistic and superior to those who use it.

Only real discussion should be about if it should be used on cars that didn't have it in real life. Then I can see some sense in the argument.

I don't use TC on 99% of the cars I drive in game, not because its "unreal" but because I'm faster without it. In real life many cars have had some form of traction control for years and in most of them there is no way to get rid of it (nor would you want to) without rebuilding the suspension and drivetrain.

We choose what works for us in the game and allows us to have fun. Many people are faster than me even if they drive with no aids at all, but that is their choice. The OP for this thread states what is legal to use and the conditions for setting lap times. As long as people follow those rules it shouldn't matter what they set their times with.

Sorry for the rant, but I keep seeing this subject pop up and it irritates me. Other than posting an occasional lap time for a tuned street car I'm never going to be setting or breaking any records here. I'm slow but I have fun and I enjoy seeing some of the amazing times the regulars post here.

Now I'm going to go hop back in my 100% stock I-Miev with my ABS1 and driving line on and see if I can figure out how to shave that last 45 seconds off my lap time to break the current record!
Spot-on.đź‘Ť

I'm going to have to agree with you here. I'm not the next Aryton Senna but I wouldn't say I'm slow, but when people come on here and beat a lap time I posted by over 7 seconds I get a little suspicious. I can accept if someone is faster than me, but it erks me when I put so much time and effort into one lap to the point where I can't get anything more out of the car, then someone beats it by a fairly big margin which seems a little suspicious, and doesn't post proof to boot.
Did you ask for a replay or anything?

08:37.969 - Mini Cooper S Countryman '11 (GTP_CSL) BEATEN / UPDATED

It's actually an update, but since it hasn't been added it could really be called either I guess.
Since it's so dramatically improved, there's a replay here.

Is there really any need to be like that? Unless I'm reading your post the wrong way. Either way thats a damn nice time.

Is there a need for side comments about unbelievable times when you never so much as asked for a replay?
By the way, I re-ran it to make sure the car I used was at spec, and it wasn't. It only had 62.1 miles on it after the run, and apparantly I drove much better. That's why the new time, that and I didn't have a replay.
And now it is dramatically improved, so I would expect a replay given the time in this case. ;)

Yes, that argument if you even want to call it that was settled a long time ago, along with the one about ABS, so I'm not sure why you had to go and dig it up, then top it off with some sarcasm. You also completely over looked my last sentence.

When I see things like that said about my times, I reply. Next time just ask for a replay if a time is really good, and then there's no problem.:)
And thank you, I'm still pretty shocked to see such times after my first run,(first lap this time was 41.1xx) I'd figured I might get a 42 at best, but 5 seconds faster than that is, well that's just fine.:)

I'm guessing you may not be shifting at the correct RPM, this car has a terrible power band, so it's critical you get the shift points and gear selection for various corners right. Also, if you don't have 190HP, you don't have as much as you should.(oil change and 200 miles)

Thanks, nice to see you took what I said lightly, I say some stuff I don't mean at times, forgive me

Thx Dom! :),

I know both of you are honest about your lap times, good to see you got it worked out đź‘Ť.

Nice Countryman laptime!
