North Korea, Sanctions, and Kim Jong-un

Is his seven descendants going to be executed too?
The reports don't say. But he was reportedly executed by anti-aircraft fire, which would have made Kim's message pretty clear - the kind of injuries that would inflict would be devastating.

That was a joke. It was showing how corrupt North Korea is.

Why? I don't think that the South Koreans have much to gain from undermining the North, given that the North is already very good at just that.

All it says is that Kim is overworking his people. They need a vacation but not a permanent one.

The BBC reported this but added the caveat...

Intelligence reports always have to be treated with scepticism but, in this case, the claims of the South Korean spy agency will be easy to verify. If they are not true, the defence minister would appear again

Thanks for that amazing piece of reportage 👍

If this is true, however, it is both ridiculous and shocking and suggests that Kim's grip on power (and possibly reality) is loosening by the day.

Stalin lasted ok. No different.

Stalin had people executed for being the first to sit down whilst everyone was applauding him.

Kim Jong-Chul was at a Crossroads a few years ago when he was to be potentially tapped to be the next leader, but now, he's just living out his Lonely Years traveling around. News stories said though that he's boarded a flight to Moscow, presumably Comin' Home, maybe then to be left in a White Room.
