North Korea, Sanctions, and Kim Jong-un

Iron Dome on Israel will only protects from small rockets.

A full blown rocket or even ICBM on a neighboring country?
Which is why I find SK's remarks a bit obvious or pointless, as if it's a nuke fired at them they will have no time to react, whereas if it's fired at anyone else....

Not to be dumb or anything but how? Do they have an "Iron Dome"-like system that could divert the missile being fired? Do they have nukes to possibly deter the North and nobody is saying anything? Unless they have a kill switch that fires immediately upon being hit with a missile (and one that doesn't destroy said location(s)) they cannot possibly have enough power to perform a 2nd strike. The only way it's possible is if the North inexplicably chooses NOT to hit Seoul (there are reasons why you shouldn't hit Seoul as the fallout could head back into their own country) and then gives the South a chance to retaliate.

I think the US gave them state of the art missile defense systems but probably not on the level of iron dome. I doubt any NK nuclear missile would be exactly advanced. It would like tracking and targeting something from the 1980's.

As for where they are going to point it, it seems they are focusing on the US. Even Kim wouldn't be crazy enough to drop a nuke a few hundred miles from his own territory. The fallout would trash the whole region.

In other words, hello World War 3.

True, but it's not easy to stop a missile traveling at Mach 7+.

NKs missiles can barely hit .25 mach let alone 7
SK on the other hand, if they wanted to carry out their threat the missile would hit the palace before kims missile left the silo.

Not to mention their backup countries. Even if SK didnt have any nuke, they can call others anytime.

Friends. Something NK lacks. Even China and Russia reluctantly hates its govs, only provide humanitarian aid for the people as a compensation of government incompetence.

...You mean THAAD. It's by no means a done deal. From what I hear, the whole set up is facing a fierce opposition from China as well as the home grown dissenters.

As for those folks here sneering at baby Kim's arsenal having enough capability, it really doesn't matter, as geographically speaking, SK's capital is mere minutes from the NK silos packed with missiles. Once those get airborne, no matter how advanced the defense systems in place are, SK is screwed.

The Beeb article was about the SK military willing to do a pre-emtive strike on strategic NK targets, when there's an inkling of an imminent attack on their home soil. It all reeks of political appeasing to me though, trying to tell your indignant masses that their government does possess means and willpower to execute a large scale warfare if provoked.

Not sure how much an effective deterrent such rhetoric might have on the NK's incumbent, but hey, two can play that game, right?

evidence? those bricks do look fragile tough
The construction of some of those concrete items seems awful.

I call complete bull on the axe, however. I bet it's just a replica without a sharp edge.

South Korea has just confirmed that there is a plan in place to assassinate The Little Kim that couldn't when he tries to fire a nuclear weapon. The plan also consists of bombing districts in Pyongyang where politicians and high ranking military personnel lives.

Yeah, I would like to see a source on that.

True, but I wonder if any of the following countries wouldn't try to shoot down the missile:
Russia, China, Japan, Canada or the United States.

It's not like you can hide an airborne missile that well.

Sure you could, and the point is building fission weapons is easy, building the delivery system is the hard part. So Hard that N. Korea, suck at it.
