But certainly "ruining someone else's race" by "remotely controlling" their car would come under the umbrella of what was stated in the ban notice:

usage of illicitly modified game data and any mischievous conduct against other players using such data are strictly prohibited

But yeah, if that were absolutely voluntary and tightly controlled from unwanted access... team endurance racing would be a lot more palatable than any endurance racing I see planned & organized around here.
I myself could NOT possibly do an endurance race that lasts longer than an hour straight unless there was definitely at least one pit stop, and the track was Eiger, allowing enough time to pop into the loo in real life while your goes through those hugely longest ever pit roads..

No... Actually he is correct on this. Many people who are on NGU have tried to figure out if and what makes you get banned through trial and error.

Because even PD with being owned by Sony cannot/are not allowed to do this. If they did they would be breaching Sony's terms of service themselves

IP address will change all the time when using wireless internet - for example using 3G modem - as the IP is assigned randomly by mobile operator in every session. IP ban will only effective with internet user using static IP address assigned by ISP.

So it's pretty easy to evade IP ban, unless PD decided to use PS3 machine ban or PSN id ban ( which will block all access to PSN - unlikely too )

I was talking about the testing in general. Which people have tested. Seasonal events with modified cars/using the secret menu gets you banned. Which with the secret menu you can by pass this.

As far as we have seen, it's just been people who use their hacks on Seasonal events, mainly the time/drift trials and also accessing the developers menu and tweaking their name and flag. Otherwise other people that have been using them away from the seasonal events have been fine.


SO I have decided to test this. I set up a dummy account with a 2,xxx,xxx hp X1, did every time and drift trial available as of 2/1/2013 (Drift with a modified R34 with Z06 drivetrain). I woke up this morning not able to access any online capabilities on that account. I switched back to my primary account and it is still absolutely fine and working.

Here are some results I have from some other tests I have conducted

1.Red Bull X2010 Prototype 2,000,000hp. Raced various seasonal event races possible.Account Status: NOT BANNED
2.Used secret menu to change/alter my guest name and flag. Account Status:BANNED
3.Redbull X2010 Prototype 2,000,000hp. Raced seasonal time trials, golded all. Account Status: BANNED
4.Hacked Nissan R34 w/Z06 drivetrain, no Wing, Lowered. Did various drift trials. Account Status:BANNED

Thats good to know , that was the only part that worried me yet.

Although i had a hacked car in the DT#58 the rally drift event just for the LULZ because i hate those dirt drift trials so i thought it would be funny to use a S15 with a R92 motor in it... but was online lastnight and was fine.

Im using a game save with no hacks right now but ill probably go back to the old save soon enoff when things cool down more.

This too. Honestly I don't think those ever worked.

But the grief report by going to say players meet>person's online ID>click triangle>then grief report. That would be a better test. But that would go to Sony not PD. But doing that but you would really be asking for it.

The fact is the report button did nothing since Day 1 that the Feature was added.....

The reason is i never did one single damn Time Trial with Hybrids, and i didnt use the guest thingy in Secret menu...

I was going to post this earlier today, but showed it to Famine first to get his OK. Kitten has subsequently posted some of the same stuff, but here goes anyway.

Having been to NGU to see what's going on, I have to say that the game we know and love has changed forever. Unless PD release a complete re-encryption of their code through a patch, this is here to stay. There are 1000's of members and extensive reverse engineering being done to discover the whole codebase, meaning you can build a car with any combination of parts from different manufacturers - most of which will be ridiculous and probably dysfunctional (that's why rooms freeze...)

The motivation for modding GT5 seems clear:

I love this game and think it's quite good enough as it is, but to clear up some of the questions being asked here, and to show the extent of the damage being done, here are some facts:

What can be modded?

Change A-spec/B-spec level
Upgrade/downgrade Credits
Move game days (in case you search for a specific car from the UCD)
Gold Licenses
Gold Special events (good to do Vettel, as DS3 player)
Gold A-spec/B-spec events
Change current car to NCD/OCD
Disconnect your borrowed car
Enable special menu
And of course do a big amount of things to your car to hybrid it

What gets you banned?

Its a great shame because GT5 code was never written so that it could be sensibly modded. This isn't Skyrim. Perhaps the guys who do this could do us a favour and make an app to tell us if a given playback is mod free? It would help the online racing and TT communities to stay pure.
