Notice of Account Ban measures

I think it's perfectly legitimate to ask for clarification when someone posts half-sentence remarks without complete information or at least some indication of what they're referencing.
:boggled:

I told you I "didn't know how". Not sure why that was so confusing. But it's been explained for you anyway.

No, and I don't think they are either.

I am saying that he addressed the ip part anyway 👍

It's confusing because I wasn't concerned about HOW people were getting around the ban... but wondering what the reality is about WHAT the ban entails.
IE: Simple PSN ID ban, PS3 Console ID ban, or IP address ban. ^^ ???

Hope that clears up what I think is unclear in everybody's posts about this. Which kind of ban is happening?
(People have mentioned all 3 now.)

The answer is.... nobody knows. Is it a PSN ban? Nobody knows. Is it a PD server ban? Nobody knows...

.. people who say they've been banned don't supply that information. It's all very vague. Some say they can't access GT online at all, others say they're banned from DT's and TT's only which would suggest a partial PD ban rather than a PSN ban.

Its all very vague.

N.B. I don't believe anyone has been banned via their MAC as its very easy to spoof a MAC, most "ultimate bans" are console ID bans, this can't be spoofed, at least not with OFW.

I'm honestly not sure what's so confusing about it. It's not a console id ban and it's not an IP ban (because if it was either of those it wouldn't be so easy to get around), and it's obviously not a complete PSN ban (because if it was Sony would have announced it as specifically that. Not PD). They just banned specific PSN accounts from accessing the GT5 online servers, which is exactly what they said they were doing.

@Watermelonpunch: I'll spell this out for you.
PD can ban you from online events by flagging your save game with a ban notice. It's written into the savegame code as you are playing the game. This has nothing to do with PSN or Sony. It's identified on PD's servers and you are refused a connection. Your username is also blacklisted.
To get around this you must make a new username and import your old save game using an editor which changes the userID and removes the banning flag. Then you have a new username and your old save game intact.

If this problem increases or if PD seem unable to control it I have no doubt Sony will get involved as their PSN ToS is also breached by these acts.

I'm wondering if this thread has any further purpose actually. PD has shown their hand and their cards are not too good. We all know the state of things and further discussion seems to approach GTP's tolerance limit.

Just to clarify, there is no need to 'import' your old save. You could start from scratch or play one of your other game saves created under a different user name(yes we all have them ;) )

That means those people who circumvent the banning measure by PD will only make things worse and might end up forcing PD to use even more comprehensive banning measure or release another patch with more drastic changes. Worse comes to worse, PD will take the easy way and disable game save copy, which will solve the hybrid issue easily ( no more duping and borrow glitch )

It'll stop duping and borrow glitching, but I don't see how it can stop hybridizing, at least with those who keep backup saves that are unlocked. Just add the hybrids, copy to the PS3 and boot up the game.

Of course, but I was considering that most people have save games they are afraid of losing.

And you too turb - no complete thought here either.
Get around what? IP ban? PS3 ID ban?

I have no idea why you have such a hard time following what is going on in this thread, it is perfectly easy to follow what is going on. Maybe you should look inward and not outward for the problem.

OK. STOP. Stop accusing people of lying and whatnot. I know if it's on the web, it really cannot be believed, but I have nothing else to go on. So for now, I believe. My posts could possibly be incorrect or false, but they also can be true, and other's posts can be incorrect. Your posts can be incorrect. Hie's can be correct or incorrect. Ever heard innocent until proven guilty, I have no reason to believe that what Hei is saying isn't true, but there is no real proof in any post in this thread. Until someone can find definite proof (preferably on NGU), then I am believing what is here.
Innocent until proven guilty?

Every hear of the Patriot Act?

They won't dare ... if that happens, then GT5 will suddenly be dead!
:scared:

If PD decided to disable save file copy with a patch, I presume they would also not allow previous version save file to be used. PD might also add a check routine in the patch that will make sure the integrity of save file data ... if they feel their banning action do not make any difference at all, I think PD could do it.:scared:

All the previous savegames are compatible with previous versions (barring the DLC), even 2.10 save will load into 1.0. It must be deliberate.

New update not allowing older savegames? Does that mean everyone would have to start again from scratch?!

Imagine if you bought GT5, played somewhat on it, then went online, were forced into an update, then found your previous savegame was now unplayable? How about people who play but don't go online regularly and don't have the latest patch? (It happens, it took me a long time before I went online with it)

Can't see it happening honestly. It'd be commercial suicide.

And I think the only way it would be possible would be with a PS3 firmware update - not just a GT5 update. The save copying is a PS3 software ability, you can do it with any save file, not just GT5.

I also don't think Sony would go to those lengths for just GT5. They would lose too many users of other games, not just GT5. It would commercial suicide, yes.

I don't see the issue with that, if I went online and update my GT5, then my save would be updated too, why would I need to use older save game if I have auto backup with the updated version ? I never have to load newer save file while having older GT5, and in case even if I have deleted my game data, PD could have just disabled older save data on newer GT5 version and still allows newer version on older game data version.

Incorrect, I think I have some disc based and PSN games that have their save game file locked, no copy possible, only backup to PSN Plus ( cloud save ) - copy protected save file is a feature set by the game maker.

Hmm, okay. My bad - I thought because it was something you did in the XMB that it was a PS3 software thing, rather than per game.

I never knew that too, but when I tried to backup all my save game files into my USB flash drive last year, some of the save game files can't be copied :( You should try to go through all of youe save game files, check if they are all can be copied, if you have many kinds of games, I am sure you will encounter one or more with copy protection.

I don't have that many save files on my PS3 - just GT5 and Skyrim I think.

Yeah, there are many exceptions to the save game backup ability, just like on the PS2. Red Faction Guerilla, for example, is saved locked. So is Duke Nukem Forever.

This issue is so massive and so confusing that I don't think anyone has it straight.

I don't believe anyone is condoning screwing over Sony and actually destroying the experience for anyone else.

The only thing that is contentious are the hybrid, because for those who have tried it, it is an intoxicating extension of the game.

@post with copy protected saves/none copy protected saves.

Most EA games are.
And Battlefield is because their save data isn't actually on your PS3 it is on their server

^ Yeah, my BFBC2 only have a player profile saved on my PS3 :)

Now I'm worried if PD will lock the save game files when they release another patch :scared: what are the odds ?
