Notice of Account Ban measures

^ Yeah, my BFBC2 only have a player profile saved on my PS3 :)

Now I'm worried if PD will lock the save game files when they release another patch :scared: what are the odds ?

Yeah, they can do that ... absolutely, hope only for SONY that many people will quit GT5.
I will for sure quit and not sure if I want a PS4 and GT6 in the future, if that really happens.
:ill:

@ toronado and sir whoever it was.
There were people mentioning IP & PS3 ID banning.
I thought they were wrong, and I was surprised that people just let the innuendos stand unchallenged without any reason.
I was asking for someone to clarify that instead of just letting people repeat the same old innuendos with no reason. So sue me for trying to set that straight. :boggled:
Not to mention the people claiming that it has to do with remote car control griefing.
(EDIT: which was confirmed as NOT the case by 3-4 other people in the thread already.)

IMHO, if anything is going to effect everyone, it's going to have to be a game save check upon login.
I don't see any reason they couldn't do this. Why not?
But obviously nobody knows if they actually will.
(ANd I believe it would have to involve another update if that were to happen...)

Status Update: Unlocked the secret menu and changed my credits and credit cap value, also unlocked "hidden" parts, like the power boost, nitrous, and higher RPM turbos. Still unbanned. The secret menu cannot remotely control another users' car. This is now confirmed.

lmao! Can we trace the origina of that rumour to this thread?

Yes, yes we can, in great part to my ignorance. I admit it, and I have unlocked the "secret" menu and there is no remote control option. Nothing of much use to be honest.

 Did it spread further? ^^ :boggled:

*sigh* I imagine that people will be saying there's IP bans and they heard it in this thread. And then someone will arrive to claim they got around the IP ban by accessing PSN via satellite internet from a boat in the Bermuda Triangle.
(The above is all complete nonsense joke. fyi)

 Yeah that's what everybody reported after looking at that... Including in another thread about the secret menu.
It was much ado about nothin' sounds like.
But I suppose it's much more exciting to contemplate that someone can take over the world in a secret menu. Well especially by way of explanation of something odd that happens in some pub lobby & seems inexplicable. The exciting explanation is going to be the first to catch attention. (When it was probably just plain old boring annoying lag at fault.)

It's confusing because I wasn't concerned about HOW people were getting around the ban... but wondering what the reality is about WHAT the ban entails.
IE: Simple PSN ID ban, PS3 Console ID ban, or IP address ban. ^^ ???

Hope that clears up what I think is unclear in everybody's posts about this. Which kind of ban is happening?
(People have mentioned all 3 now.)

@Watermelonpunch: I'll spell this out for you.
PD can ban you from online events by flagging your save game with a ban notice. It's written into the savegame code as you are playing the game. This has nothing to do with PSN or Sony. It's identified on PD's servers and you are refused a connection. Your username is also blacklisted.
To get around this you must make a new username and import your old save game using an editor which changes the userID and removes the banning flag. Then you have a new username and your old save game intact.

I explained the banning process very succinctly for you and even detailed the process of getting around such ban, but you chose to be rude to me. People have problems answering the innuendos you speak of because it entails walking a fine line with GTPlanet's rules and regulations. I took the time and trouble to detail this. You should be grateful, not rude.

From another site. (GT5cheats.com)

"Reading up further on this from various sources, it seems that doing any of the following actions will result in a ban from PD:

1) Accessing and using the Developer Secret Menu
2) Using a hybrid car on the Seasonal Time Trial competitions
3) Using a hybrid car on the Seasonal Drift Trial competitions

Simply using a hybrid car to play in online lobbies/rooms, or using one to do the regular non-trial online seasonal races, or using one "offline" within the game, does not result in a ban from PD.

This information is regarded as being correct at time of posting, but may be subject to alteration as and when further feedback is obtained."

You basically Reposted the same thing i posted couple pages ago.

I have one ready to copy and paste after someone comes into this thread with nonsense. Like the "oh we are all banned?", or "is it safe to still use them?", or the famous but ignorant/annoying comment which "i am glad all of you cheaters/noobs are banned haha that's what you get".

so i can use hacked cars in online lobbies without getting banned correct?

Yes, but your best bet is to try and find a lobby which is dedicated to hybrid cars to avoid people spamming reports on you.

But, what's stopping some sour nut from joining just to report players using hybrids?

Even if the room says it's alright to race them, I'd still be cautious.

Once again... Wise words from Ice Cube were "if you scared go to church"

I went to church, only because Gangsta Rap made me do it.

:sly:

Aaaanyways, I bet PD is taking those reports more seriously, nowadays, instead of just making it another button to press, so that's actually good.

Hahahaha good one.

And it may seem like that might be true

Thats why its just better to keep any and all hybrids offline unless you are willing to take the chance of getting banned. Pretty simple concept really.

Would a private lobby be a viable alternative?

I missed a few pages, and sorry if this was already answered, as the search didnt help me on this.

Even if someone were to see you in an online room, how would they report you? The gt5 website's contact section is worthless, and there is no in-game feature to do it. So, must just be another scare tactic that people who hate hybrids created? So, unless someone from pd sees you, which probably wouldnt happen, how would someone be banned?

Whoever said the report thing must not of thought this through (if any of you started that, i hope no offence was taken, just what i noted :scared:)

When you're in a lobby you click on the person in the list, and there's an option to "Report". (Same way you find the "Reject" if you're the host, for example.)

The PSN web site also has a Grief Reporting page. (YOu have to be signed in to access it.)

They will never ban anyone based on anecdotal reports, just won't happen. Way too labour intensive. Any banning will be based on game data sweeps under fixed, generalized criteria. As in entering a TT or DT with a hybrid. They may expand it to Open Lobbies in the future, you never know, but again, it'll mean banning for anyone that enters a lobby with a hybrid, regardless of whether they have 1 or 50, whether they are a nuisance or not...etc... not whether JoeSourPuss163 reported you.

I feel dumb now :dunce:.... I was host today for a lobby (VERY rare occasion) and i remeber seeing that, cause i almost clicked on it instead of reject... Cannot believe i didnt remember that.

Thanks for your help, also 👍

I don't know if I'd count on that.
I have heard people talking in pub lobbies on the mics on several occasions about having gotten their psn ID banned & had to make a new one, because they had basically been reported for annoying too many people. Well, obviously they didn't say it that way  But what they described was that they were griefing, and wound up getting their psn acct shut off somehow.
So what's to stop 20 people from reporting someone for griefing with hacked cars and them getting banned?

And sorry, but the report button is not just used by "sour pusses". Most of the stories I've heard where people used the Grief Reporting was because they were essentially being stalked. The person would send them numerous PSN messages harassing, each time they were blocked creating a new account to continue the onslaught.
If you're the victim of that sort of thing, I'd hardly call it sour grapes. 👎

I think they were talking about people that ban you for no reason what so ever or try to report you for the sake of reporting you.
