Sony has dev kits! http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/12/playstation-4-oculus-rift/
Is no one discussing the 1080p Rifts they are showing off at E3?
(Link above mentions it. Really hope PS4 supports the Rift.)
What are your experiences with the Rift until now?
Thank you for your quick reply. Can you tell us your opinion about using triple screens and/or the Rift regarding playing racing games? And is motion sickness an issue here (my biggest concern)?
...
As for PS4, I don't see any reason for Sony to offer Rift support as it serves no benefit to them, unless they have an investment interest. If that happens then it would likely kill the Rift in it's current guise and become a PS4 exclusive accessory which would be rubbish.
Of course Rift support would benefit them if it's the next big leap in output devices as many are predicting; if the Rift is a massive hit with consumers and PS4 supports it but Xbox One doesn't, the Rift will drive PS4 console sales. Is that not a reasonable prediction assuming the Rift's success?
Why would it likely become a PS4 exclusive device? There is virtually zero chance of the Rift not supporting PC, regardless of next gen console support.

It would need to be exclusive to Sony because it would otherwise be a third party competitor to their tvs. That is also the reason why Sony would hesitate to support it on the console at all.
The best thing about the Rift is the immersion, this is the ultimate package, motion and complete immersion in the game!!!!!
Do you want to feel like you're in a nice cockpit in your living room or actually IN THE CAR?

I get what you guys are saying about being in the cockpit and all, but I just cant see it being very practical in racing until they make the switches on the dash clickable. I dont think it will matter how well you know your setup ,if your eyes are seeing the interior of the cockpit your hands will be lost. You might be able to find a button sometimes, but in the heat of the race youll be grabing blindly. Your hands are gonna go where your eyes are seeing, not what you remember. Now if your plan is no hands off the wheel racing it may work great, but I think even using a shifter will be difficult.
I've only had my Rift for about a week, but the testing I've done so far has been quite positive. I've been able to find buttons every time I need them. It's helps that I'm using the Fanatec CSW with the DSD button panels attached to it, but I think people will be able to use the buttons on their wheel just fine. A button box might be difficult but wheel buttons should be second nature after a few hours of testing.
But I'll give up the world's best button box for the immersive experience the Rift has given me.
