Skid recovery force is ON, but even expert drivers might find it difficult if...

I just about stopped reading at that point honestly. Make it a god 🤬 option PD, your losing the interest of the 'hardcore' players with this kind of stuff.

What's so bad about skid recovery force?

What's so bad about skid recovery force?

I'd say it's the fact that it's forced on players by the game's regulations. It's okay to use it if you're not a good driver and you want a safety net, so to speak, to avoid spinning out. But other, more experienced drivers prefer to have full control of the car, something a forced SRF does not allow. The key word here is "forced"; if this was a changeable option in these events, it would be far less controversial than it is now. The problem here is that PD refuses to let players use such a option the way they want.

Why is SRF forced on? Why not make it optional?
Some of us like the challenge of driving with aids off, having an unrealistic aid that cannot be turned off totally ruins the experience.
Agree.

I honestly do not understand what possible line of reasoning exists that would make them force it on instead of optional on any event. It's mind boggling.

Beside it's not confirmed SRF will be on with no way to switch it off, but if it is so, might it be to "help" the AI in rainy/slippery conditions? That might be the sole reason for such a decision.
Or...I don't know...they could make it optional and let us decide what level of difficulty we want? SRF should never ever be forced on, ever, in any "simulator". Ever.

I obviously agree, but all they said about rain and difficult conditions and SRF made me think that it's AI more than experienced drivers having issues with it :D

Yeah, I don't think any experienced drivers, even if they had problems, would resort to SRF for their handling woes. :) Just saying. Perhaps that's where the challenge lies; having to drive with an undesired option... Either that or, as you said it, to give the A.I. a sporting chance.

I'm guessing these events will be very easy for half and very difficult for the other half. I'm sure there will be some secret tire strategy needed to ace them and once that is determined, it will be a free for all.

Drift Challenge!!
Weeeeeeee......

"Survival Race"
Wow is it some sort of elimination race or something? Anyway, new modes are always welcome PD :)

Actually, that "Survival Race" is a Endurance-esque Super GT race that involves pit changes and changeable weather. Think of it as a smaller scaled version of the Suzuka 1000. ;)

I think this needs to be emailed, tweeted and Facebooked to PD every hour of every day by everyone who feels this way until they finally get the bloody hint.

I give it until somewhere mid way through GT8's lifetime.

We don't even know the full details on the release, and you're judging it from one little screenshot.

Just having a bad day & was kind of hoping for some better news that's all, it's just me being....well....grumpy :)

TBH I am looking forward to the GT500 rain events, I'll be running that alot with old & new cars for the challenge & replay values.

I think it's the way PD portrays these events that annoys me more, like its the best thing since sliced bread & that this is what the players have been waiting a year for, not the actual events themselves.

Not really like the best thing ever, just communicating to us that special seasonals will be released.

Probably echoing some previous sentiments here (sorry not gonna read the whole thread) but this update again feels like second prize. I welcome new events so sure, any update is good, but are we ever going to see the features we were promised so long ago? The longer it takes PD to implement them, the less cost-effective it becomes, as interest in the game and the PS3 gradually dwindles.

It really seems to be the story of their life. They are always one step behind, when they could so easily be one step ahead.

And I'll echo my last post. The contents of the update have not been officially announced. Any complaining at the moment is jumping the gun.

And im not going to notice that the minute I load up GT6 & its got a NEW icon next the seasonals & news section.

They haven't bothered communicating with us that much over the past year about big updates so why now & over some seasonals ?

@R1600Turbo I asked if we would see any of the big features and lamented how PD seem to work at such a snail's pace, I didn't say we wouldn't see the features but I guess you are right, I should save it for when the update is out, or not :)

Because they're special holiday seasonal events with higher payouts?
