Can we get a little clarification on this? I admit to not having a huge amount of time to dedicate to this. I've run about 10 races (so, 30 laps), and performed well enough in some of them to consider them acceptable. In other words, I feel I drove them fairly well. But I don't think I've ever had an entire race where there wasn't at least a little contact. Nothing serious, but a tap or a nudge certainly. Most specifically, the AI cars are having a tendency to barge-pass - to cut inside under the assumption that they will be fast enough to get past me in the bend. But then they fail at that and collide with me - their front into my side - 100% their fault. Sometimes this is just a tap, sometimes more. At what level of contact is this a "non-clean" race by the standards outlined here?

My understanding is that any contact, at all, for whatever reason, renders the replay and submitted time invalid.

"100% clean, no AI touches whatsoever"

I'll clarify it for you. There is to be no contact what so ever. Whether it is your fault or not. The problem is that if we start having exceptions to the rule, all hell will break loose and people wold start arguing over if it was their fault or not. Having the rule no contact means there are no grey areas.

It is hard to get clean runs, but I have so far clocked over 300 runs on this, and tbh there are very few clean runs. It is in the end of the day good practice as driving is about been aware of everything around your car, not just in front of you.

Had a few goes at it today, not been on GT5:P for about a month now, so I didn't expect much, but what the hey. These times are not completely clean though, I've yet to run a 100% clean race, because I have either - run off the track, tapped a barrier, tapped an AI or been punted by an AI. Ah well, practice makes perfect. These 2 laps were clean though, just the lap preceeding was not.

Division 3 Silver
Sixaxis
Lap 2: 1'54.xxx
Lap 3: 1'58.xxx

Ultimately, this is down to luck, whether the AI has decided to get good exits or spin in the middle of the track determines how well I do. Generally, I feel the most time is lost trying to navigate the start of lap 2 cleanly, as thats where I'm usually ahead or behind the main pack.
Driving good laps on this track is in my opinion pretty easy, racing good laps on this track is what's hard. I'm not really sure this is such a great example of learning your racing manouveres, because real opponents wouldn't blindly attack you, although it is a good way of learning to anticipate the driver in front, and apply the appropriate additional braking or steering, etc.

I think once I've run a clean 3 laps I will submit, because this race is too much of a headache to spend vast amounts of time on racing cleanly. I'm confident that my times are fast enough, its just avoiding the AI. I've had a couple of laps I felt were probably going to end in the 1'51-52 range, but never been able to finish them because of some idiot Lancer deciding I wasn't there or because I lost some grip.

no little taps, wall scrapes and 4 wheels of the track. If you notice on the 1st turn there is a run off area which is Tarmac but it's not part of the track so you will have to be carefull in this as well.
Grimreaper you've stated that you have overtaken the last skyline into the tight right corner but did you go far enough into the run off area on the 1st corner.

Also on some replays you won't notice any bumps, scrapes but change it to a different view you may then notice them.

I'm only getting 2 views, in car & track camera, a rear view would show a lot more of what we need to look for but I can't seem to bring that view up.

Uk,

Trust me, I am now pulling this move every time I run. My settings have a big say on this being possible.

Firstly I go nowhere near the run off in turn 1. I exit that turn alot fatser than the last car. This is why I get close to it.

Then there are two opportunities that arrise from my position, both require being on the right side of the track, Out of the short chicane. The first is that I get that good a run out of turn one I simply drive past the last car and make the hairpin first. The next opportunity is that I end up side by side into the hairpin, and simply out break the last car into the hairpin. The second opportunity is the riskier as there is little room for error, but it can be done, although it is hit an miss as to wheather you touch. It is about getting the nose of your car into the racing line, If you manage this the last car sometimes backs off.

So to sum up, it can be done, and done cleanly. 👍

I will attempt to capture vids of my overtaking at these corners. I will need sum guidance as to how I post the vids though. Obviously If I post vids they need to be cleared by Sphinx, as it is first lap footage all be it just the first couple of corners.

Am I only one to be little pissed that Stage TWO is on Expert Level PP750 but with STANDARD PHYSICS?
I check online last night, and its on STD... :( I am really disappointed that we are having race even with STD physics mode... I know that may change due to updates from PD, but I hope we either go to F430vsGTRvsVette or HSR 800pp PRO without use of Ford GT tuned, Vette TUNED or S2000.

By the way. I started the Current stage one. I am really happy with it :)
but I am not doing as good as other players so it seems :( hehe oh well
Can I not enter the Events? In about week I am starting my school again, And I will find it hard to play GT5p and my PS3 Unless I will have a decent schedule. So by not entering will it take me out from GTP caln?

PS.
In in event one, Daytona road course. On a turn turn, the turn that is part of the oval, I went down and over the yellow line to not hit another AI driver, does that count?

It may say standard but entering the game it is deffo Pro.

there about 5 or 6 diffrent views to watch on the replay.
just press select on the pad or wheel and it will bring them up after pressing select each time.

So It is not using Standard Physics? I hope not I will double check that, because in the TITLE it clearly says STD physics mode...
I will Give it a shot then to see if this is Professional mode once entered.... lets hope it's a glitch

I dont know what STD stand for, but 750 suz expert is profesional:)

STD = Standard Physics mode... its making game to be easier and more arcade.
PRO = Professional Physics mode... its making game to be more accurate to real life's car behaviors. More of a simulation.

I know that;) what I ment was if STD dont stand for standard physics, then I dont know what they mean:dunce: looks like a glitch..

By the way, its been like that for over a month now, its a typo by PD, all Expert events are still in pro physics, if you go to the menu where it lets you pick your car, you can confirm it for yourself ;)

Interesting seeing where people are relatively so far, and what division they're all in 👍 Incidentally you can replace the question mark next to my name with Sixaxis as that's the controller I'm using. Again, will be interesting to see what controllers people are using to get the times.

Looks like we're succeeding in sorting the men from the boys.
So true. And I am afraid I don't like the outcome :scared: but of course :)

Good man you're helping out here Michael  Imagine one WRS event with 406 posts for one combo

Sorted. Unfortunately, as I explained earlier, in multilappers Luxy does not display the used controller correctly but only and always as a question mark. In case of hotlap events, though, it is displayed accurately.

/\ Yea I'm not sure what Luke has to tweak to fix that but no real big deal imo.

"100% clean, no AI touches whatsoever"

Ah, got it. Bummer. I'm going to pass have to pass on this then. Don't get me wrong, I understand the logic here - it doesn't leave any grey-zone and you don't have to worry about judging "was that clean", because it will never be in question. But, while I can make the time to practice and have some fun with this, what I don't have time for is repeatedly running races in which I drive perfectly well, only to have an AI car barely nudge my rear-bumper by not bothering to brake in time. If the AI was perfect that might be another story, but I just can't spare hours of my life battling for a "clean run" against a flawed AI.

On a side note: I picked up Ferrari Challenge. While it does have some good points, the AI in that is so awful that it makes even GT4 look wonderful. I've spent several entire laps with an AI car actually glued to my side. It's really sad... But, if you want to feel a lot better about GT4/GT5P AI give it a try!

Here are two vids showing two different approaches of how I manage to get past the last car. going into the tight right hander on lap 1.

Sphinx has approved the vids as they are footage of lap 1. There are no times showing.

The first shows that if you get a good run out of turn 1, you can easily just drive straight past the last car before getting to the turn.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LHbH23EBc0s

The second shows that if you don't get such a good run out of turn 1 you can still make it, although you end up neck and neck around the turn. Riskier but still doable.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg7xOcO7ZpE

Hope this inspires people to go for it, as I find that by doing this the whole race turns out easier as I seem to meet the rest at ideal points on the track.

Bear in mind that my settings and driving style are different. 👍

Enjoy the vids.

Grim:tup:

P.s. There is no contact in these vids and are considered clean. I can post different angles of the replays, if needed for anyone that has a doubt.

And I have not race in that one yet? I was stuck to HSR and F430vsGT-RvsVette challnage.... :ouch:

Well I better hop on it before it goes away.

grim @ nice overtake, but dont you lose alot slipstream? when I do that I get slower T1... and whats your speed in turn one and bus stop..? ? if you drove like that all the way you would have beaten me.

I find that nine times out of ten I end up right behind the next car so he provides a tow then all the way to the straights. Although I have managed to pass the next car aswell two turns later at the horrible right hander, just before the left onto the straight (Banking). But tbh I just stay behind the next car until entering the banking where he gives me a boost upto the back of the next six or seven cars which I get past before and after the bus stop leaving me in position 7 at the finish line. Then I find that most the time the infield is relatively clear on lap 2 until the horriblr right hander leading to the banking. Then by the time I get to the bus stop I am in first place or right behind the leader ready to pass out of the bus stop. Third lap is then obviously clear.

I am doing 140 mph in turn 1 before hitting the brakes. On lap 2 & 3 i am hitting towards 180+ into turn 1. Not sure about the bus stop speed, I will let you know tommorow once I turn the PS3 back on.

Recheck my post. I have edited it with the times. 👍

I will post my tune up tommorow, as I can't remeber it.
