uk86ze is still miles ahead of me, but based on lap 2 and lap 3 I'm still 2nd best of div.3. After some racing the other day though I'm not so sure about my lap 1, so I'm going back to put in the hard yards.

Interesting vids, thanks for posting. Not going to bother trying to copy as I've submitted my time already - the time I've submitted is what I'm reasonably capable of and is therefore representative of my race pace, rather than turning it into another time trial with hundreds of attempts. Means the competition in my group will be more realistic!

But anyway, to the vids. I've actually got very close to passing that first Skyline into the right-hand hairpin before but I always brake a little earlier so I don't hit him, as I'm never close enough. Whatever setup you're using is giving you a fantastic run on them though.

I have to point out too, that I'm not using racing line so judging my braking distances is a little more down to intuition. I used to use racing line but since the last physics update I vowed that I'd not use it again. I also do all my driving from cockpit view. And never use traction control. And use sixaxis.

So really, I think my times are okay considering I make things hard for myself :P

I don't use the line either. I also use a sixaxis with no assist, and all my driving is done from the front of the car veiw where you are low down on the road. The replays were shown in them veiws so as people could see the car to prove that there was no contact.

:idea:embarrassed:k I had a little think about this event, (:ouch:didn't hurt too much though)NO AI touches whatsoever dam annoying if they're not your fault, :boggled:- right? Well what if damage is coming :cool:(which I think it is),and say EG::mischievous:somebody hits your turned wheel and it's not your fault, but your race is over cause you can't steer properly.Using mirrors and avoiding contact is just as vital as not contacting and is in your own interest as a racer, so getting used to doing this now is as good a time as any.
Anyway I find it extremely satisfying :rolleyes:as a racer(Well I like to think so) to achieve totally clean races anytime, anywhere with anyone.👍

anybody passed a car before the first right handed hairpin on lap one, i managed to make a clean pass just before and in the little kink before the right handed hairpin. Alas maybe like others do not have the time needed to continuously practice...wrong word, i mean look for those three fast, CLEAN laps, getting to pissed of with AI clipping my sides, rear etc. All the best to those that do take part

Just 2 quick questions here, how do you find out the final race time from the replay, and is there a way to pause and fast forward replays?

I have saved the replay so it's just a matter of where it is. I've obviously gone over the replay a few times, and I can't find it anywhere. Can somebody please guide me on where to find it or how I can get it?

GTP MOOSE.
there about 5 or 6 diffrent views to watch on the replay.
just press select on the pad or wheel and it will bring them up after pressing select each time.

I'll check that, I was using the O button to change views & it only gave me the 2 choices.
Thanks.

yes, i made it clean, but isnt easy :ouch: thats the 1st key to make a good lap... but theres still another keys 👍

i shouldnt say that, you are the enemy on this "war":scared: just kidding...

It's old fashion I know but, you could add them(the laps) up yer?

:scared: Here I go. After a week of AI stories I'm gonna finally jump in and give it a try.

Div 2: SixAxis
L2: 1'53.167
L3: 1'53.145

Pretty happy with this at the moment since I was running 1'56.5s last time I gave this a try, and dropped about 10 seconds off my previous race time. Still more to be had though. Using mr_VOLCANO's setup with TCS at 2.

.......... and have some fun with this, what I don't have time for is repeatedly running races in which I drive perfectly well, only to have an AI car barely nudge my rear-bumper by not bothering to brake in time. If the AI was perfect that might be another story, but I just can't spare hours of my life battling for a "clean run" against a flawed AI.
I feel pretty much the same way about this. I had enough grief battling the AI while getting the classes complete, with the ridiculous penalty system. And now we have to jump through even smaller hoops for this challenge.
The car is fun to drive around here, but the AI.?. gimme a break. For instance, I can get alongside and occasionally in front of the last car before the sharp right on lap one, only to have it drive straight into the side of me, 10, 15 times in a row. Sure, i can understand the rules, but the fun factor is rapidly diminishing, and if i can't have fun, why would i drive ?

I knew it would be "challenging" but, this car on this flat track has a VERY steep learning curve. My goal right now is trying to stay on the track a figure ut how early I have to brake so the car won't push so much.

I think the main problem here is that the final results are depending on the distribution of the AI cars...now the main order of them is not good for me, so unfortunately I don´t see any space to improve my time anymore...

LAP 2: 1:52:562
LAP 3: 1:52:550

Bear in mind that my settings and driving style are different. 👍

Yeah, you seem to wanna kill the engine while downshifting. Wouldn't want to be in its place :nervous::scared:

Anyway, nice overtaking. I managed to overtake it cleanly once at that corner, but it rammed into me every other time I tried it. Now I just stay behind it and overtake it after the infield, although I lose time because it slows me down. :ouch:

Leaderboard updated

Lap 2: 1'55.973
Lap 3: 1'54.889
What is your division and controller, please?

I also lack the div/contr info from Mines_GTR. Please guys, stick to the rules OK?

EDIT browsed thru the Registry to find the division info. This is not going to be a habit tho :irked: I just want to keep those black print (missing division info) away from the board.

Div 2: SixAxis
L2: 1'53.167
L3: 1'53.145
That's how it's done 👍

If nowhere else, go to the XMB and look up your replay. There you'll find the total time. But it should be found in-game too somewhere.
Speeding up or pausing the replay like in GT4 is not (yet) implemented in Prologue.

Woops, forgot to add that.

Division 4.

Controller: Logitech Driving Force

Lap 2: 1'55.973
Lap 3: 1'54.889

FINALLY got a clean race!

Division 2 (Gold): DualShock3
Lap #2: 1`53.079
Lap #3: 1`53.500
Total: 3`46.579

Here are two vids showing two different approaches of how I manage to get past the last car. going into the tight right hander on lap 1.

Sphinx has approved the vids as they are footage of lap 1. There are no times showing.

The first shows that if you get a good run out of turn 1, you can easily just drive straight past the last car before getting to the turn.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LHbH23EBc0s

The second shows that if you don't get such a good run out of turn 1 you can still make it, although you end up neck and neck around the turn. Riskier but still doable.

Hope this inspires people to go for it, as I find that by doing this the whole race turns out easier as I seem to meet the rest at ideal points on the track.

Bear in mind that my settings and driving style are different. 👍

Enjoy the vids.

Grim:tup:

P.s. There is no contact in these vids and are considered clean. I can post different angles of the replays, if needed for anyone that has a doubt.

I refer you to my previous post. I can pretty much make this move every race. 👍

I gave it a try and have yet to get a clean run. My best laps were with one hit by a Lotus at the start of lap 2 with a best L2 and L3 of about 1'55.6xx :ouch:

Nice to see you around Colby

No need to do the Total math tho, Luxy does that for us.

Yes i watched your vids, impressive, i actually meant, completed the overtake by the time they have passed the little kink where the pit lane exits, i think its the metal barrier on the left??

I have attempted that a couple of times. You need a fantastic run out of turn 1 so as to get your nose into the race line for that one to work. It is very tight as the last car tends to squeeze the space available. My aim is to make it stick and then take the next at the right hander. Come close a couple times but I have yet to make it clean past the little kink.

It also looks like there is an opportunity in turn 1. Yesterday I made turn 1 stick at such speed that I actually made it past the last car only to be touched by the last car.

👍

If you don't like it, don't do it. Simple. 💡

You don't need to get past the last car so early to get a good time. I spent two hours on my run and don't pass the last car that early. Just because some here do, doesn't mean we all have to in order to get a good time. Look at my lap times on the leaderboard for a 2 x 1 hour sessions.

It appears to me that many are coming here, seeing the top times, struggle to match them or even get close and then slate the combo out of frustration of not being able to compete at the same level. If anyone can't get close to the top drivers after 2 hours then you won't even after 6, 8 or 10 hours.

Yoda
Insane the event is,... facing the dark side you will, may the F... Luck be with you....

Please take down my splits.

Upon closer inspection I have an AI tapping my right rear ever so slightly on lap 2. :grumpy:

Edit: replace with these splits:

1'56.612
1'55.917

I will submit a time based on the above.

Your statment doesn't bode well for me. I have run hundreds of laps so far, but I can see possible improvements in my race. I currently see that I could easily get a further 2 or 3 seconds out of each lap. At the moment I am running 1'50 & 1'51's, and I am convinced the car will easily do sub 1'50 lap times. I have once done sub 1'50. So I will continue, until I am satisfied that I can't get anymore out of the car.

Overall it is down to personal preference, as to how much practice you need to come out with a challenging time. It took me most of this week to start getting consistent clean laps. At first I thought it was just an impossible task. Practice makes peferect for me.

Knowbody should get disheartened by the task in hand. Look at it as a learning curve. I never did my own gears or I used to have all assists on to help me around in the past, but through meeting you guys on here in the past 12 months and running in events like this, I now run better than I ever have.

Thanks for all the hard work Sphinx.

People just need to stop acting like children when things don't go their way or if something is tough. I hate this corvette and I hate the track but I have seen it as practice and a challenge to improve myself.

👍
