Bigracer the times youve updated for me are not the fastest overall.
could you please remove those times and replace with my old times which are the fastest overall as i dont want to mislead anyone. i was just stating that ive hit the 1:50,xxx.

Lap 2
1:52,227
lap 3
1:52,675
Div 3
gold
Broken DFP

This is getting ridiculous for me, every time I do a clean race always, my laps 2 and 3 are in the 1.52's. I'm slowly plugging away to get into the
1.51's 👍. I might have to be abit more aggressive in some of the corners.:)

Here we ago again another slight improvement,
Division 2 Gold
Steering Wheel (DFGT)
Lap 2 1.52.217
Lap 3 1.52.158 👍

Oh damn! forgot to ask 2 questions. When on banking are you allowed to have 2 wheels under the yellow line ? and also if the 2 wheels are allowed under the yellow line how much of the car is allowed to go under ?

As far as I have understand, if you always have 2 wheels on track, (within the yellow line) you will be fine.

Ok, here is my preliminary time after 15 races or so:

GTP_2Fast4Stig, Division 2, Silver, DFGT
Lap2 1:51.688
Lap3 1:51.959
Total: 3:43.647

Love it when every new session (quit to Mypage, restart) is different, keeps you on your toes. Had a couple of races where I had to slalom around two Elises, making a 360 before my nose. LOL :sly:

This was the run with the 2 skyline coupe in the back. I ended up queuing in lap1, had an ok lap 2 and made a stupid mistake at the chicane at lap 3. Still, it was a clean lap so I submit it.

Traffic on this track in worse than Dublin!

I have tried Holdens tune and it is not for me. I think it is more for Wheel users than sixaxis users.

Here is my tune.

Please somebody try it and let me know how it feels.

Power, -13
Weight, 99%

Ride Height, -20 / -18
Spring, 6/7
Damper, 2/3
Toe, -0.06 / +0.07
Camber, 2.0 / 2.0
Brakes, 8/9

All Aids Off, except ABS-1

Gears.
1, 2.660
2, 1.780
3, 1.348
4, 1.061
5, 0.851
6, 0.692
Final, 4.037

Enjoy 👍

Yours Grim.

P.s In reference to Tagger you can always take the weight back out and you will find that with this tune you find there is less screeching from the tyres as the weight is no longer trying to pull you off the track in the in field. Just another option.

Mr Volcano, if you are there, I am currently hitting 115mph in the bus Stop, whilst running this tune with no weight.

The biggest differences between mine and yours are in the damper and toe settings. I can't remember mine at the moment but they are different by enough of a margin that I noticed. Otherwise, we're not too far off from each other. And, I turned all driving aids off hoping to squeeze a little more time from my laps too. The greatest benefit I got from trying your setup was the idea of maximizing HP at the expense of added weight. Since most of my time is made on the banking, it made sense to follow your lead there. Great times you've got posted Grim! Cheers!

I'm done with this event.
I joined the GTP_registry to have fun & this event is not fun!

I understand the reasoning behind it, to make us better drivers but when,
You pass an AI clean & ...
He brakes way too late & hits you from behind, tries to pass you back by diving inside & hitting you in the side.
You make a great run in the infield & ...
the AI slows down & ruins your time because you can't pass it or it'll just ram you.
You go to draft past on the straight &
It jumps out in front of you at the last second making you swerve to avoid contact, swerves in to you as you pass ruining the race or just plain brake checks you.

It's just not fun! :ouch:

I got a couple of clean runs so I have something to submit but, they are no where near my fastest laps, when I go back & look at them some idiot AI does something stupid & a touch ruins the whole race.

For the experts this might be a piece of cake but for an average driver like me it is no fun at all.
This event gets an epic fail from me. :grumpy:

I hope the next event is actually fun to do!

I spent some more time with this over the weekend.

I was able to improve quite a bit, not in my overall time, but in my consistency of producing a clean run (most were still dirty, but my success rate for a clean lap 1 increased to ~25%).

The problem I ran into was a lap 2 logjam on the infield. I found that it pretty much erased any advantage I'd gained on lap 1 because I had to wait until the short banked section (before the bus stop) to pass this gaggle of cars (usually Evo heavy) that clogged the works.

Any suggestions for how to deal with that? Or is the only option to keep trying different lineups?

grid has very much to say. In my run I dont overtake any cars in corners (except one who do a mistake). find a grid with a fast last car, (50% chance). then dont push him to much and he will keep his pace high..slipstream until first straight. well thats my way, have overtaken cars before T1 but dont get faster times.

You're probably right, I used his tune and it's a little understeery on turn-in, but I just got used to it in the end. I usually use the TLD tunes when I'm racing and they all display similar characteristics, but they seem to work for me so I use them! Personally though I'd rather have a car that's a little loose on turn-in and more neutral on the throttle because it allows me to be smoother.

I too was getting quite frustrated with this event, even if i do/don't submit my times, i can go away from this event knowing that i at last raced a car with no aids, i use to have all aids on and use auto, bit by bit they are getting turned off, then tonight i turned of the TC leaving only abs at 1, also managed to get my fastest time to date...division 5 here i come

The biggest personal gain I got from this was racing aid-free for the very first time. And, I learned a lot about throttle control and taking better lines through the corners. So, even though the time I posted probably won't make it to stage 02, I'm happy with what I accomplished. But, I can understand anyone getting frustrated and letting this event go by. I was down to my last bit of patience with the AI when I finally ran my first clean race. That's the one I submitted.

Hmmm, that tune looks awfully familiar. :P Anyway, I see you have very sensitive brake settings, doesn't it affect you in a really negative way coming into turn 1?

Hi,

I might be wrong, but the purpose of this event was not necessarily for you posting a time.

After about 6 hours attempts (the average time I can spare for the WRS), I wasn’t able to manage 3 clean laps in a row, not that my driving was dirty, but more of the AI issues you already mention. Even thought that monumental “failure” got on my nerves, I don’t regret the time spend behind the wheel. (by the way I succeeded the event many times regarding PD’s rules)

Mainly because of the car choice and intended “mismatch”, this S class event was a rather tricky one regarding my personal driving abilities. I suspect it to be a “warning sign” to the hundreds of newcomers here (I’m part of them) of what is expected regarding their behavior on the track in future online races. There will probably be more events were I will not be able to submit a valid time, but that will not prevent me from enjoying the WRS, as it will enlighten my favorite game with new perspectives and from time to time improve my racing abilities.👍

Sorted and leaderboard up to date.

EDIT thanks to Luxy/Luke's kind cooperation the colour of Div5 as used in the leaderboard has now changed from another shade of blue (or purple) into red. I hope this differentiates the divisions in the board better - it does for me with my partial colour blindness anyway :)

I originally started with your tune and had been messing about with it all weekend, adjusting everything to get the best out of it I could. Look what happened, I ended up coming full cirlce and ended up back where I started. Can't beleive it, I thought I had hit on something, and actually come up with a tune. 💡 Credit to you 👍

I find the brake settings fine for the actual first turn, as they allow me to get past the last car easily before the tight right hander. As for other laps going into turn 1, It can be quite scary approaching turn 1 at 180mph+, as if not approached correctly you can easily loose control, but it is eased by the toe settings. That helps to keep it from spinning.

Arggh! Just had a half decent run, had a 1'51.8 on lap 2, a good lap 1, but on lap 2 at turn 1 I only had 3 tyres on the track as I had a moment's hesitation on the brakes and ran wide. Lap 3 I ran wide again on turn 1 but without running off the track then made a total mess of the bus stop.:ouch:
Now I know I can pull 1'51s, and I have a week to get that race right.:grumpy:

mr_VOLCANO, I tried positive front toe and it didn't work for me, at least not the way I hoped, so I still use -0.18.

lol its like steering a ship around a track!! Its real good fun with no aids on and has a good soundtrack to it-was playing online the other nite and was racing a s2000 and i beat him! but all corners he zoomed past me then i took him by his slipstream (this car fairly goes in a staright line)

Finally got the AI how I want them to give me the ideal lap without compromising too much so my ps3 is staying on till I can get a fully clean run down. I'm sure it won't be the fastest time out of my division in the end but this car/track combination is probably what I am weakest at. I don't do well with over steer usually.

im not the slowest of all people like but i cannot get the AI cars where i want them without contact!! i had a slow lap because of them and my fastest time was only around 1.53 on the 2nd lap, thought 3rd would be faster but u get along the ring bit where ur going flat out and the other cars are thinking the same as you (pull out and overtake) lol hard one here! p.s. lotus elise tuned would be ideal for that track! :embarrassed:P

my new times with Grim_Reapers tune which I have to say was a handfull.

Lap 2
1:51,788
Lap 3
1:51, 901

Half hour sessions.

Dfp div 3 gold

anyone know the price of a wheel and does it help ur times?

sixaxis can be touchy

DFP about £45-£60
G25 which I've just ordered a new one for £145.

Ime about 3-4 seconds faster with the wheel but look at Grim Reaper he's still faster and he uses a pad.

Most people will say the wheel us much better as you have better cpntrol.

No slang words that promote laziness, ie; “r”, “u”, “plz”, etc. will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the forums.

Just a reminder. 👍
