Must say lap 3 is the hardest in a sense. Sure in lap one and two you somewhat expect the AI to stuff you up in one way or another. But for lap 3 there is the fear that you finally after 50 dirty runs have managed to get your first 2 laps clean and fast. You need argue with yourself between trying to push hard and trying to not stuff up.

There were so many times my lap two was stuffed up approaching the bus stop or even earlier on by braking too early into turn one.

Nice times yannc 👍 My lap 3 time was slowed partially because I was so afraid of screwing it up after all those failed attempts on laps 1 and 2. Then, when I finally got a clean run going, I was racing too conservatively on the 3rd lap. I was so happy to finally have a clean run that I posted just what I had and left it at that.

Felt exactly the same way!

I think I speak correctly when I say never make an event involving AI again. It would be OK if it was the same line-up every time, you'd learn their tactics and learn to avoid them. Problem is, I've tried at least 50 times now and only gotten the perfect line-up once, and I had to go to sleep before ever getting in a perfect lap. It's not fair when some people can fluke better conditions than others.

Have been trying but, getting three clean laps without contact is proving quite a challenge (for me at least). What are the consequences of not submitting for this event? will i be removed from the GTP registry? Can finish first, lap time 1:53 but, the AI always taps or nudges me at some point in the three laps and messes the whole thing up.

You won't be removed, hell, you don't even have to participate. GTP Events are always optional. I'll submit, but unless I get that miracle line-up on the weekend and put in those 3 laps, it will be a good 2-3sec slower than what I should be able to do easily.

It also makes it hard when there isn't anything to use as braking markers on the track.:ouch:

Hi,

thats what I thought at first, but finally realized there are some track and environmental details that do the job.

By the the way, should your avatar reflect part of your personality may I eventually suggest you to stay away from that event. How many shirts ruined so far?

I don't get that mad at trivial things like a racing game, but for other reasons I gave up wearing shirts ages ago.:P

I disagee. Different line-up's suit different drivers of differing abilities. It's true that one has to dig around a bit for a line-up that is more suitable to ones own liking, but that's a part of OLR. The Board Challenge (the pinnacle of OLR) has always included AI race events and whilst the AI remains a part of GT, it will also remain a part of OLR.

Obtaining a clean run in this event is easy. However, obtaining a fast clean run in this event isn't. If you're struggling, then ignore what times others are posting and run your own race, run to you own ability, not to someone else's.

In preparing for our first official GTP event I could've played the easy ball and simply presented an easy Time Trial event whilst we wait for private rooms. Instead I decided to push everyone to their limits by presenting an event that would push drivers of all abilities to the limit, and those who are willing to be pushed and come out on top are those who will be rewarded by going onto stage two of this event.

No one ever said it would be easy.

I never said it should be easy, and even with the right line-up you still have to work. Let me put it this way, I want to race, and I'm spending more time looking for a line-up that suits me than I am actually racing.
It doesn't bother me too much, if all the events were straight up time trials it would get boring after a while. I just figured it might be something worth taking on board.

Big Racer there is an error. You have given Superwally my times. Superwally's times are different to mine.

Sorted That was my mistake not Bigracer's :ouch:

Time update, probably my last one, cause I'm quite happy with it:

Lap 2: 1'50.849
Lap 3: 1'51.111

Division 2 gold, G25 user.

Edit: it is my final time update, cause I've already submitted my total race time to Sphinx.

I agree.

On a different note: The drivers posting 1'50's and 1'51's simply amaze me. Impressive indeed. I would love to watch a race among the top 10 drivers for this event.....on the Daytona Road Course just to see how you all would sort it out with each other. That would be interesting.

I am enjoying the event, love the track and the car is not so bad (actually one of the best cars for the Buttkicker), just don't think i'll have time to get in a clean race. Will try my best until deadline regardless.

I'd also like to say thanks for all the hard work put into these events. It is much appreciated, cheers.

Well Ive submitted,
I dont think it will get me through but hey.
Some of you guys are just amazing,
I got into the high 1'51s thats it.
My submitted times:
1'52.129
1'52.126
Pretty good lap variance. lol
Oh, and DS3 all the way.:)

Hi guys im managing 1,52.xxx but thats on standard settings if you guys wouldnt mind could you give me some tips or even a setting to try out, Im not used to setting up suspensions and camber and what have you. It would be a great help and maybe a good place for me to start on tuning as I am absolutely useless at it.

Slight improvement:

L2: 1'50.699
L3: 1'50.985

At last I got 2 laps in the 1'50s. Still, I made a minor error on lap 2 and a slightly bigger error on lap 3 so there might be a bit left in me yet. You all know how hard it is to leave it alone when you can see a few more tenths!

I think more people need to post some times! Don't tell me you're all going to 'do a Timo' and post your 1:49s on the last day. That would be no fun :sly:

That's the best variance I've ever seen. AND, if you kept lap 1 variance to that tolerance you very will may be representing your Division. ;)

If you go through this entire thread you will find numerous tunes for the AM Vette - for instance, check post #247 for one of them that numerous people have used and posted very good times with.

Minor error? Slightly bigger error? In that case, I must be having catastrophic errors and colossal errors! :)

Nice times Prudent (and others too)!! ..and if you're referring to me, I'm not a threat this time :) ..just too slow for you guys. 👍

Okay, here's the suckiest time so far, but at least I got a clean lap. I was actually running 1'53's, but the AI somehow kept interfering, so after the 5000th dirty run I decided to keep it slow and easy. :) I didn't even finish first, but I'm glad I actually submitted a time. ;) Very easy going. I think some of you guys are actually faster going in reverse.

Lap 2: 2'00.119
Lap 3: 1'58.589

Division 4 silver, G25.

Don't feel bad Arosa. It's hard as hell to get clean runs as you well know. It's the reason I posted my first clean run and went on to do other things like play with my Mustang on the London and Suzuka circuits. Otherwise, I'd have gone mad.

Thanks for the info LinkPark I have tried out those settings and the car feels better already. Just cant get the hang of the new handling though, i think i need a slightly softer suspension.

I don't believe you :P

Fair enough though mate - see you on the next one. 👍

I think I'll submit tomorrow. mr_VOLCANO's time is very good indeed and I'm happy just to have got within a second of it.

I gave you the other one because it worked for me. If you like it a little softer then look at TLD's Tune.

i just completed a race, that was clean, and my quickest. Yet after saving my replay, i notice the servers were down, so my ID doesn't show, and i don't see the split times appear, only the lap times. i can only assume that my race is now invalid ?
1'52.029"
1'52.706"

Hi ripping
Hope you get your time logged. It is not easy getting a clean run with a hot time.I must have done 15 races with the AI tagging me on lap 2.
1'51.786
1'51.248

But all credit to Sphinx for making it tough - that's how we get better!

pretty quick times there joeninety... i wouldn't have expected anything less! 👍

yeah.. its not easy dodging the bullets... its getting on my wick like S-7 (?) did, (the F40 round Suzuka).
i did a 1 49 lap once in the last few weeks, but my usual inconsistency lets me down, and i never saw that time again. But you know you have those days where you just feel...'on it'? I think today might be my day... hope the server comes up soon. But might end up getting an update and doing TT's in the Citroen.. :)

Well, I am definitely not getting a time in for this. I got what I thought was a good, clean, respectable lap in but upon replay saw I was rubbed, or it was close enough to not be able to tell for sure. I leave for the Petit Le Mans in the morning so I won't be able to work on it anymore.

Didn't matter anyway as my lap times were off from what everyone else is posting.

This one is for Sphinx.

I put something stupid on my PM submission.
"Why don't the split times add up to the complete race time"!

Forgot that 1 min equals 60seconds - Duh!
Does that mean i will get demoted?!

One significant change from spec III for this event: PP limit has been raised from 650 to 700.

Physics has changed slightly, and the one race I did with a 650pp tune was a bit slow, though felt similar to the spec II race. With a 700pp tune, however, the AM vette is a rocket (didn't finish a complete race, however, so I don't have a time comparison).

Sphinx will have to rule on allowed spec III settings, but I wouldn't count on being able to turn in a 700pp race result.
