If we are to use 650pp then there would be little chance of catching anyone, therefore all 3 laps would be raced alone, and that would mean different times -no slip, no off line no baulking all these add up to a totally different event!!!!

One significant change from spec III for this event: PP limit has been raised from 650 to 700.
The update also specifies this:

Events - event prizes have been increased and difficulties have been readjusted
Now if the difficulty for this event has been readjusted (e.g. it's easier or more difficult to pass the AI) this may affect laptimes for people who have not submitted yet. Or maybe it has no effect at all.

Anybody have any thoughts on this or tried it out already? Is the event easier, more difficult, or the same?

Well, here's my new times:

LinPark / GTP_LinPark
Lap 2 1'49.791
Lap 3 1'48.805
Logitech G25
Div 3 Silver

Its still not that easy to get a clean race but you can run much faster now obviously. It took me alot of tries to get to my current leaderboard total of 3'44.158. My new combined time of 3'38.596 was obtained in about 1 hour of racing after the update hit.

We'll have to see what Sphinx decides.

The update looks to of put a spanner in the works with this event. Clearly there Linpark has shown that it is much quicker. :sly:

I think sphinx will need to have a think about this as some people may of submitted already. 💡

Personally I would just let everyone re submit, as for the extra PP, that would have to be Sphinx's call.

^^ This is with 700PP right?

I think Sphinx will have to allow for SPEC III, otherwise how can you be sure no one is using above 650PP?

Well, I submitted yesterday and won't be home this weekend either...If we are going to redo it under spec III it may be an idea to extend the deadline. Otherwise it would mean that you had to complete the event in only 3 days.
I can see Sphinx having a hard time with replays as well, as surely they would be compatibility issues with Spec II and Spec III...

Well, here's a suggestion then.
I guess a bunch of people will have already submitted (me included).
I would wager that a lot of people already have a "banker" sitting in their replay folder.
If these people now submit their times already achieved before the update, then they're all on the same playing field.
Sphinx will be able to check, because the replays will be tagged with date & time.

Everything post update is a different competition.

I won't be overly chuffed if my pre-update efforts are for nothing.

I just packed my wheel and seat away yesterday as was very happy with my time, would have probably been top for div 3 gold. Have not done the update yet and to be honest if I have to re-submit again I think I won't be able to meet the 6th of October deadline. I think Sphinx will probably extend the deadline to the 13th.

Personally, I hope he doesn't extend the deadlind, as this event has been my life for the last week. I think he should just let everyone resubmit and let us all "Adapt & Overcome" the recent change. We are all winners and we all have the ability to over come this obstacle. Wussy's ask for more time.

I'm just downloading the update so I'll post again soon. However;

If everything went pear shape, my backup plan was to allow SpecII & SpecIII, but to treat them separately, Stage 1a, and Stage 1b for example. This means that the top 15 (plus driver X) from each Spec will now proceed to Stage 2(32 drivers overall). Although this will double my workload for Stage 2 I think it's the only fair option at the moment.

Because this update is close to the deadline I would say a deadline extension for the new Spec will be almost certain.

I'll post back soon.

Sounds fair enough. 👍 Would this affect the 'you can submit only once' rule? E.g. can the people that already submitted for Spec II also submit for Spec III too or not?

As I see it at the moment (I'll confirm everything with a first page update), everyone will be able to submit both Spec's. Obviously it would be pointless for someone to run SpecIII if they have already proceeded to the next stage using SpecII.

Sounds fair to me. 👍
Just one question;

Will you post interim results regarding Spec II?

Having already submitted my time, I would need to know whether I need to have another try with Spec III.

I wouldn't think so. If you think that your spec II times are not good enough he has already given you the option to send in the spec III times aswell.

I will post the results for the SpecII as soon as I have complied them. The results should be posted the following day.

Lap 2: 2'00.119
Lap 3: 1'58.589

Division 4 silver, G25.

Above were my spec II times, below are my Spec III times (I am working on a new tune for Spec III):

Lap 2: 1'52.342
Lap 3: 1'50.722

Division 4 silver, G25.

Ehh...maybe I should try again with new physics..major improvment!

Hmmmm... quite a large difference between Spec II and Spec III... is that because of the tuning or the new physics do you think?

Edit-- Or were you having a REALLY good day today?? :)

I think it's more the fact that the PP moved from 650 to 700. Top speed must be much higher on the straight now...

You should. :) Expect a major drop in laptimes. :)

Yes, yes and yes. :)

Partly, take into acount that the car is a lot more slippery now on the infield due to the changed physics, so you gain a lot on the straights, but the infield becomes harder.

hmm looks like this new GT5 Prologue update, has put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Just curious because I can't make this out from the verbage added, can someone win both SpecII and SpecIII for their division if their times are the best?

I have to say now this event is quite a bit more fun - I now know what mr_VOLCANO must have felt like flying around the track and taking the lead prior to the bus stop on Lap 2. The car, when drafting, can reach speeds in excess of 190 MPH which makes for a very fun entry into T1. I really think to be fair we have a handicap in Stage 2 - something like:

Div 1 Gold - 650PP
Div 1 Silver - 655PP
Div 1 Bronze - 660PP
Div 2 Gold - 665PP
.
.

You get the idea. :)

Nicelly done Sphinx.... I will submit my Spec II now and play the Spec III to the end.

Too bad I would have love to improve Spec II as I was loving it taht way !!!

Anyway... good luck to all 👍

I will now submit my Spec II time.

Absolutely gutted :grumpy: as I was homing in on Volcano's time, but oh well we now have a week at Spec III.💡
