Leaderboard initiated

This is the first version of the leaderboard for the first GTP Race Event for GT5 Prologue. It is copied from the GT4 WRS Leaderboard after kind efforts made by its original creator, Luxy/Luke

Here are some directions for reading/using the leaderboard.

1. It only exists pending more sophisticated functions currently worked on by Vaxen, Pentagram and others. Please check this. Also, please feel free to leave your name in that thread to volunteer for any work needed to speed up the process.
2. Maintaining it is quite time consuming so a team of 'updaterers' is currently being formed. Two members will be assigned for each division. They will be announced later on so you can contact your own division updaterer for questions regarding the leaderboard.
3. Please post only the splits or laptimes as determined in the first post of every event published by Sphinx or any other race steward; you will find those splits or laptimes in the leaderboard for that event.
4. Please do not edit your posted splits or laptimes in an original post before a 'leaderboard updated' indication by me or any of other leaderboard update members.
5. When posting splits or laptimes, please also clearly state your Registry division and used device, either in the post text or your signature. If no division is stated, your details will not be copied into the leaderboard. In the leaderboard, the controller device can only be displayed as 'DFP' or 'DS2'.
6. If anything is interpreted wrong or overlooked please mention it in the race thread or PM me.

Thank Jerry for his devotion to GTP  and have fun all!

Top job steven/Bigracer(and others)👍👍

Great work Steven. 👍👍

Pig of a car & pig of a track to drive it on. Hate the infield section with this car. The two for me are a horrible match.

I feel a 48hr session coming on at the weekend with this one. I have attempted a couple of races and keep getting punted by the other cars. Whats that all about? Are PD trying to get us use to online racing with real punters? It is as if the AI cars don't see you.

My determination will see me through this. I have yet to run a clean lap, but I have never run this car, never really liked it not dramatic enough for me. I like cars that are all shouty and loose to make me feel like i'm doing something.

That is my rant. Look forward to the competition and TBH credit goes to Sphinx as he is getting us to learn other cars and tracks and taking most of us out of our comfort zones.

All hail Sphinx.

Since Event two is a ONLINE time trial, 750pp at suzuka... And since we have 5 divisions, would it be nice to have different car classes for each division? So we can have all kinds of different car classes and more diverse then just one car.
Example
Division 1
-Tuned Viper
-Tuned Vette
-Tunded GT
Division 2
-F430
-GT-R
-Vette
Division 5
-Mustang GT
-Ford Focus
-Integra

I mean The list does not have to be exact, but I would LOVE to see different car classes for each division. I am at division 4. Since I am one of the lower divisions, it would be nice to see lower/slower cars for these divisions, and for the PRO division 1, it would be cool to see them in SUPER tune cars.

Thank you both a lot.

The 'others' that have gracefully consented so far are:

Div1: Jump_Ace
Div2: Jake, EDK
Div3: Denur
Div4: Ren-Tec (from Div2)
Div5: Blitz187

but I am building a team of 2 members for each division to spread the workload as much as possible.

Nice idea, but not for this event.

I'm attempting to keep things simple at the moment, but I can assure that each event will be different and perhaps we can do this soon.

I didn't see this asked previously, a bit of a noob question.

Once you leave the infield in the major straightaways/banks/etc, would being outside the yellow line on the left (area between the grass and the line) constitute going out of bounds or is that fair game?

Just want to make sure. Thanks!

I think that as long as you have 2 wheels to the right of the yellow line, then you are fine. The blue racing line does actually cross the yellow line as your going round the first banking after the infield section.

Yes it would "constitute going out of bounds"

Well I can do 1:54.8 laps but in about 10 tries I still can't make 2 clean laps. :ill:

Get to know your opponent, the AI. Learn how they drive, how they react when driving close to them, learn what lines they take in all the turns and just as importantly, always use your rear view mirror. (Mirror then manoeuvre) 👍

How can you tell if someone does/doesn't use the clutch.
As a pad user I may be buying some more pads Tommorow as 1 of them may be having an accident with the wall.

I like what you're doing with this event Sphinx, it appears this event my possibly be used to teach people how to race in and thru traffic and being aware of their position on the track.

My guess is by the time private rooms roll around alot of us will have improved greatly making for some good clean racing, or am I totally off base

No, you're spot on. A hard car to handle well if you're inexperienced, an unpredictable AI (like most online races) together with a touch of mystery that will keep people guessing. 👍

Who could ask for more? Oh yes, I know, but I won't go there. :sly:

Being able to use setup changes has made the drivability of the car in this event easier for me, than the previous challenge, but to keep 3 laps totally clean and fast is the real challenge .I've managed a good overall time (IMO as other drivers laps are showing),but the lancers with their entry speed is difficult to say the least,to avoid contact.

but to keep 3 laps totally clean and fast is the real challenge
For me and my setup, being fast is not the biggest issue, the real trick is keeping it clean. I'm having a lot of 'squeeze the buttocks' moments when entering the bus stop chicane while the AI is there entering too. :D

I'm willing to share my initial setup(subject to change at any time), but it may not suit any one else ,if they decide to try it.

ride height F-10 R-9 / spring F9 R6 / damper F7 R5 / toe F+9 R+10 camber F3.1 R3.0 T.C off ABS 6 gears (in km) 122/173/233/274/320 final drive 2.968

Some setting omitted on purpose.

If the AI decides to smack me in the back during a race does that count as an AI touch? It seems like that's an unavoidable thing with this AI, especially in Lap2 when I have to navigate through packs of 4 or more cars. Even if I late brake it seems like the AI doesn't want to brake at all and then SMACK!

Does anyone have any tips/pointers on the AI's noteable quirks that will help me get a clean run in? Thanks in advance.

First clean race:

GTP_Vaxen: D2 Gold, DFP
Lap 2: 1'54.954
Lap 3: 1'54.540

With Hyperuk's insane times, here in D2G we're all fighting for the at large spot.

Sweet. Can you make a prediction for the month when your data entry application will be up & running?

Any chance of a suggestions box for the Prologue events?

Leaderboard updated

First clean race:

GTP_Don: D2 Silver
Lap 2: 1'56.335
Lap 3: 1'54.787

ABS 1 - rest off ... RH -6 / -2 ... S/D 4/6 F&R ... -0.10 / +0.20 ... C 1.5 / 1.2 ... Steering 44 - 6 Gears 66 / 99 / 135 / 176 / 220 / 292 Final Drive 4.737

Nice drive but hard to get a clean lap !

Good Luck to you all!

Don

Doh!!!
I've had about three hours on this project up to now, gradually whittling my time down. Just now I got a really sweet run through all the AI and carved a whopping 4 secs off my total time. Result 👍
Watching the replay back, I noticed the lightest of taps on my back bumper by an Elise. I didn't even notice it during the race from the driving seat, and thought I'd had a clean run.
But contact is contact, right?
So not a clean run then :grumpy:

Hey Hey

Had a few goes at this, it's a nice combo for sure.

Lap 2 and 3 were in the 1'51.xx.

Where and when you meet the AI seems to dictate your lap times, in three separate races my difference in total race time was like .3 of a second, which is pretty small considering its a three lap race where you have to pass 15 cars.

Oh yeah, if you have a really slight (i.e. no in game penalty) rub against the wall going down a straight or exiting the banking does that 'dirty' the lap?

Since you are still driving on tarmac I was under the impression that driving on the levelled surface instead of on the bank was OK. This is where I drive when i overtake the AI. If it is not allowed to drive in this place I think you should make it more clear in the rules since it's pretty special for this track in particular.

Its against the rules in nascar to driver below the yellow line and hence against the rules in this race.

I believe it's OK to straddle the yellow line?
Sphinx - please be kind enough to clarify.

Yes that is true but i will leave that upto Jerry to decide and my view to straddle the yellow line is ok as long as two wheels are still above the yellow line.
