Thanks Sphinx for putting next event up, Im stiill trying to get my head around this i've read the whole thread so far so still a little confused sorry if i sound stupid. So we need to do S4 Event and get 1st place with the Fastest Time and once we are satisfied with it we submit our time to you? I think i read by you in a previous post that if GTP Members do not take part they wont be penalised or removed? Is this right? I may not take part in this one but i dont want to loose my place on my Division or have any disadvantage not taking part? Sure i'll give it ago but even for me i find this very hard. Sphinx if you could i answer this it would clear thinsg up again sorry if sound stupid.

1st clean race. People should watch their replays In different views as in some you think you've raced clean and then to change it to say the chase view you notice a scrape against the wall .
My time 1:56.145 1:56.006
Div 3 gold & pad.

Its against the rules in nascar to driver below the yellow line and hence against the rules in this race.
Are we using nascar rules?

Or are you simply referring to the following statement:

Where white and yellow lines are placed along the edge of the track determine the boundry of the track. There are however some areas where this is not the case, therefore, please use common sense to determine the boundary in these areas. However, if common sense fails then ask in the discussion thread. The excuse that you didn't know is not good enough at this level.

How can you tell if someone does/doesn't use the clutch.
As a pad user I may be buying some more pads Tommorow as 1 of them may be having an accident with the wall.

When shifting up through the gears look at the throttle display, notice that the blueish display turns red in between shifts. With the clutch there is no red in the display, resulting in faster shifts. I believe this was first spotted during the GT Academy event.

Yes we do the S-4 event.
No we don't have to win the event.
Submit your time when your satisfied but obviously before the October 6th deadline
Just do the best you can. 👍
We don't have to race every event, race the ones you can or want to.
Once you're on the registry, you will remain on the registry. The only time it would be possible to be removed from the registry is either through cheating, continued violation of the GTP rules and guidelines (coming soon), personally request to be removed from the registry or if we have another qualifier, which would most likely be when GT5 Full is released.

Above all have fun.

Oh yeah, if you have a really slight (i.e. no in game penalty) rub against the wall going down a straight or exiting the banking does that 'dirty' the lap?

Yes, touch the wall and your run is dirty.

I believe it's OK to straddle the yellow line?
Sphinx - please be kind enough to clarify.

The yellow line is what defines the edge of the track on that section of the course. Therefore, seeing that you are allowed to have 2 wheels off the track, then it's safe to say you are allowed to have 2 wheels past the yellow line.

So we need to do S4 Event

Yes.

and get 1st place with the Fastest Time

No.You can finish in any position.

and once we are satisfied with it we submit our time to you?

Yes, once you are satisfied, and you are sure your run is clean and in accordance to the rules, then send your time to me via PM, using the already stated PM subject title

That's right. You will also see this on the first post of this thread:

:: Only Open to Qualified GTP_Registered Members ::

:: Members are not obligated to take part ::

By not taking part you will not be relegated or removed from your division of the registry. Also, if you don't take part it's important to note that you also have no chance for promotion, or even the possibly of being the first drivers to take part in an official GTP Online challenge.

I hope I didn't miss anyone's question?

I do think it's a 'Dirty' lap 👍

No AI & wall touch normally :sly:

Edit : Aaargh you are too fast Sphinx ;)

Quote from Sphinx' rules and guide lines :Where white and yellow lines are placed along the edge of the track determine the boundry of the track. Seems very clear to me 👍

Update:I was still on previous page , I see now it has been clarified my mistake

Thanks very much 01GTP & Sphinx for the replies clears it all up and i'll give it a shot on the weekend ;) cheers

Lap 2 1.52.386
Lap 3 1.52.990
Hopefully some room for improvement before the deadline :)

Thanks for spotting, but I have to say, I don't like your tone or what you could be implying?

This is how I roll. Around in my parts, most jokes play on serious aspects, then the rest are so stupidly stupid you have to laugh for the stupidity of it.:P

But it will be a looooong time before I trust the mods again, sorry but that can't be helped. Good job on organising the event though.

10 tries so far and no clean runs:ouch: This is mainly down to small wall touches and unpredictable AI.

I've been racing the lineup with the two Tuned Skyline Coupes at the back. Can anyone suggest a good line up?;)

10 tries?
Just getting warmed up then 👍

I seem to get the two Skylines at the back every time. It seems that the spacing and mix further forward varies.
I think there's a fair element of luck with this. It all depends where you catch up to the AI. I think I've witnessed them employing "operation stack" on the home stretch once.

You're certainly a strange fellow.

Their whole landmass is upside down, you know. I think they must have to use velcro or magnets or something on their feet to stop from falling off. That's gotta make you a bit unusual isn't it?

How the %$#& does anybody get 1:51 times? Even on my last lap with no AI cars I can't do better than 1:54.5.

I know, I know... I'm sliding the tires. Smooth is fast. Smooth is fast. Smooth is fast... :dunce:

Asked and answered all by yourself  👍

Its about getting a good first lap and the AI cars in the right place. On the seconds lap you can have a clear infeild section and catch the lead AI pack on the straight to get your slipstream. If you get this then you will get a 50, 51, 52.

Right I've messed up big time :nervous: I did this event earlier on with AM Corvette and it was my best effort thus far,I forgot to right down my final race result time :ouch:
Now I've wrote down on paper my each lap time try to add it up and im pretty positive it's not the right time. If anyone can please help me out to get the right time please PM me.

Many thanks 👍

I'm pretty positive that the results table comes up again when the replay is finished. Have another look.

Right I will double check. 👍

No just watched the replay again and it doesnt tell you the final race time

Stage 1 is a fun event. I started working it last night after work. The AI definately needs to learn some driving etiquette. So far all of my runs have been with no TCS and ABS set to "1". Despite the car being easily upset by steering corrections or improper braking points (it's not very forgiving), I've had a blast working on improving my times. I've managed to start placing in the top 10 finishers, albeit the races aren't always clean.

I am very disappointed that we aren't allowed to use the G5 clutch. It is extremely easy to miss a gear using the clutch. So, don't see the benefit or added advantage of using the clutch versus the non-sequential shifting or the paddles. But, I'm a nooby here relative to Sphinx and the other veterans. The reason for my disappointment is that it's just fun to really work the gears. You have to be extra smooth to pull off a decent run using the clutch. Or, at least I find I have to. I tend to mis-shift frequently if I'm not concentrating 100% on what I'm doing.

In spite of the clutch restriction, this is a lot of fun. I'll go back tonight and turn laps without the clutch. There's something about driving this old V8 beast that just feels good. It's like a houseboat trying to turn it without spinning the wheels. Thanks for putting this together for the community Sphinx. I'm looking forward to future events already.

I don't have a G25 so I don't have a dog in this fight, but didn't they fix the power-shift "cheat" in the last update?

Oh wait... Stage 1 doesn't require updated software. Never mind.

Adding up the lap times will be the only solution I think, it can't be that hard. Deadline is 6th of October, so you have plenty of time left to make it right;)

Maybe another G25 owner can furnish some feedback on this. I'll try and test some tonight to verify but I'm still mis-shifting if I don't use the clutch properly no matter what direction I'm shifting (up or down).

Yeah thanks 👍 looks like that is the only solution, although I am not that brainy :dunce:
And also worried if I get the wrong time and send it to Sphinx.
