Can we please clarify when the timer starts in different versions for Mission 34?

I am playing the PAL version and the timer starts at 118 seconds, the lead car starting three seconds later at 115.

;) dont know if anyone cares but today i completed Mission 34, 5 times in 6 attempts, a one time i won by 8.5 seconds!:dunce: 👍
I used the Driving Force Pro wheel which is much easier for me to use now than the Dualshock 2 controller :yuck:

can people please clarify starting times for M34?

Yes mine starts at 118 seconds and the first car starts at 115 seconds

Timer starts at 126. First car leaves at 123. So PAL users get an 8 second head start. No wonder people are finishing even while taking a penalty or two.

that is strange and unfair on you guys, Speedy_samurai, have you completed M34? if you have you must be a great driver 👍

I have finished it. It took me about 8 hours of driving over 3 days. Great driver? Maybe, maybe not. I did manage to put together one dynamite lap, though.

anyone who completed the mission 34 with the 126 second start is at least a very decent driver because it is not an easy car or track to get used to.

NTSC JP = 123 Second Head Start (From posts found in this topic)
NTSC US = 123 Second Head Start (From personal experience)
PAL Vers = 115 Second Head Start (From posts found in this topic)

This 8 Second difference is huge and should make Mission 34 relatively easy in the PAL version.

The only missions I have left now is that one on Nür which I haven't even tried yet, and with the old hondas on suzuka. I @#$#@$##@@ HATE waiting for 90 seconds to try again, gets me out of my concentration every time. I just drove onto the grass AGAIN.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! Just got a +0.024 time with the NSX.... :@ :(

:P try to beat 0.004
that sucks! lol
..made me mad.. owel got it the next time over, just rammed the leader off the track :dopey:

I did a -0.004 once in the mission with the Subarus. That was a close one...

Such a shame too, weren't all the tests and stuff in GT3 much HARDER for PAL users? I always remember PAL people bragging how they were better cause they had to get lower times for the licenses. Now it's the other way around and WE can point and laugh and say all you PAL guys suck because we have it much harder off than you do!

It has nothing to do with sucking or not, it just means you guys will be sitting in front of the tv longer with sweaty hands and all. :dopey:

Not quite right. I have 123 seconds head start (PAL). But I've checked with a friend of mine which has 115.

There's also a difference in our covers. Mine states "not to be sold seperately" - referring to "only beeing sold with new PS2's" - because I was a bit too early at the store at the date of release. ;)

Still I have the extra PAL-cars, so it's a PAL version.

Damn.

I just finished all the missions (with exception to #34)....and I tried it twice. The 2nd try I stayed on the track the whole time and went pretty conservatively and I am 30 seconds off! Damn! lol

By the way, what does PAL stand for..... It is FAR too general of a term for the search to help me with...

Yeah seriously.

Mine (US) is 123. Took me awhile to get it, but I can do it pretty consistently now... but not after about 8 hours of practicing the mission...

But passing it was very very satisfying.

this is getting out of control did famine do the list of the missions yet

Dude, why do you need the list of cars for all the missions.

A: does this matter that much...
B: what are you gonna gain from knowing this...
C: why dont you just go into mission hall and read the descriptions or enter them if its that much of an issue...

???

I'm guessing you dont have the game yet or something... I'm just confused on why youre so interested on knowing this (seemingly semi-useless) bit of info.

I don't think anyone would use the full name of PAL so you'll probably have to put up with putting PAL in the search. I don't even know it what it means.

It might mean "Product Always Late"

haha

I'm pretty sure it has to do with a geographic region. A sensible first word could be 'Pacific...' but after that I am stuck.

i use the PAL version of GT4, if i did have your version of the game i am happy to say i would have completed Mission 34 because i came first by 8.5 seconds with a 5 second penalty, and the time difference is only 8 👍 :dopey:

by the way, is Mission 34 the only mission with a time difference?

"Phased Alternating Line".

exhorst - No. All of the 1 Lap Magics have a time handicap. M34's is just the longest.

Talk about hard luck, I finished 2nd trailing that beat up Honda by 0.025, AND THEN, 0.025, in the 1 lap magic JGTC NSX. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Then I need to finish mission 11, which I just came within 0.7xx. Plus 15, 17, 18, 23, 26, 29, and the dreadful 34, which FYI, has a 123sec headstart (NTSC, Chinese ver.)

I hate [Bergwerk] with a passion, I can never get that 1 stupid corner right. :ouch:

So, probably the one you get with your PS2 if you buy a GT4 pack, you have 123 secs headstart, and if you buy it without a new PS2 you'll get 115 secs headstart. I had the 115 secs headstart, and won this one with 0.3 secs. Cost me all afternoon though. But now I know the track well, so that's good. I'll try it some more time, look if I can win by 8 secs, that should be possible.:)
