the last 5 (except nurb) are really easy. i breezed through 30-33, then came the nurb with the bloody SLR..

god damn that race ****s me.. YOU HAVE TO WAIT 2 MINS EVERYTIME U RESTART DAMMIT... i was going crazy. i seriously got up, went to the couch, and punched over and over til i got my anger out.. it really got on my nerves

Thought I'd update my progress report since I haven't posted anything on my status in a week or so. Waiting inbetween 2 minute tries now. Previous non-crash attempts have been .2 behind and .3 behind, consecutively. .3 behind was with a 5 second penalty cause I hit the #2 place car

yeah how damn annoying was it when you tried to overtake you hit the *&%^$&#!! that you were trying to pass and got a penalty. That cost me M34 but i came back and on my second attempt of M34 i beat the first guy by over a second.

Done all the missions in a day and a half. The hardest I found to to was mission 11, 23, and 34.

I cut the grass on some of the corners. You also need lots of practice on the track so you know where all the corners are and how to take them. Towards the end you draft the cars and eventually reach the lead car. You know you've done well when you see 5th place about 2/3 around the track.

I see that you and Cosmic posted the same thing....based on your nationalities, I would assume that you both have the PAL version of GT4. I am playing the NTSC U.S. version of GT4, and we get to start 2'03" after the 300SL. Is there really that much of a difference between the two versions?

It's actually 1min 58secs for me, just checked. I thought 1min 55secs was the time.

Wait a minute! Do Pal users get an extra 5 seconds?! I had to wait 2 minutes and 3 seconds after the 300SL left, but the Pal users got 1 minute and 58 seconds? Man, no wonder so many people are coming on here to say they did it. It took me about 3 days on/off.

Sorry if I don't sound sympathetic, but to be blunt, if you can't do these missions, you dont' deserve 100%.

Why should 100% be easy?

As for waiting on the start line... uh I think that's the whole point; it makes the race more difficult. GT3's difficulty needed a kick up the backside. Maybe GT4 gets that in these challenges.

It's not as if it will require a perfect lap. At the time it seems like a perfect lap, because you do not have the skill or insight to see where you have been losing time, making mistakes. In reality, you can always make a few mistakes and get away with it - *if you are good enough*.

There will be 3 stages:

Beginner: You can't achieve the laptime even if you don't make any mistakes, because you aren't good enough.

Intermediate: You can't achieve the laptime if you make any mistakes, because you aren't good enough. You can achieve the laptime if you don't make any mistakes, because you are good enough to do that.

Expert: You can afford to make mistakes and still beat the time, because you are good enough.

To be BLUNT, your being a JERK, I dont think you A-Spected the 24 hour races, I think that there might be a small few that do, I dont think you did. (Prove it with a screen shot with the race time and A-Spec at the bottom of the screen) Untill then YOU DONT DESERVE 100% EITHER.. Or anybody who A-Specs a race for that mater (by your standarsd)

dont bomb on people who arnt as super skilled drivers (we cant all be real race car drivers and tuners)

Or are you not good enough to win a 24h without B-spec?

I will be A-specing one of the 24hr races this weekend.

However, you're being harsh. F310B's point IS valid - if 100% is so easy that everyone can do it, where's the challenge? If you're one of the "few" people who can do it, hurrah! If everyone can do it, why bother? To complete any game through to the bitter end SHOULD require some skill - or even the odd shot of dumb luck. It just so happens that in Gran Turismo you acquire the skills to complete the game the more you play it.

So kick back and actually read what F310B said, not what you thought he said.

Alot of games have dificulty levels so those with less skill, can enjoy the game, & the hard core fans and high skilled drivers can also have a challenge.

I woke up this morning, after going to bed .7 behind, .2 behind, .3 behind after a 5 second penalty, and .4 behind. I played 3 games, upon the third game I tossed my DS2 against the wall, shattering it into pieces.

I came to the conclusion that my DS2 had been worn out, due to the fact the X button was no longer "analog", and you could either mash it 100%, or not have any response at all. The R2 button was what prompted me spazzing out on it, as it failed on one of the important shifting sections.

Needless to say, I plugged another DS2 I had lying around which was brand spanking new, and ran a 9'12.861 in comparison to the 300 SL Coupe's 9'13.218. Guess I have another spare parts controller now

This is the mission hall thread, I was referring to the imo, hardest and most challenging mission in the game -- #34. It's the equivilent of running ~7:10 in one of the most horrid car setups. My bad for not stating that in the post but the majority of people who read the thread who've seen my posts will know what it means 👍

No - he was saying that complaining about a part of the game which is necessary to get 100% completion is silly. You must either pass it all or not expect to get 100%. It so happens that Mission Hall is quite tricky - and required for 100%. If you cannot DO Mission Hall then, very logically, you don't deserve to get 100% because you cannot do a part of the game which is required for it.

If the game is too hard for you - but others can do it - it isn't the game that's at fault, but the player. However, the player can remedy it by getting better - or else what's the motivation to actually get better?

There's 99.84% more of Gran Turismo 4 than just Mission 34. Those with the requisite skill to pass Mission 34 can get 100%. Those without can get 99.84%

Looks like there's a difficulty level so those with less skill can enjoy the game then.

You have to pass certain sections in every other game in order to complete it, so I don't see why that should be any different in GT4. Besides, there is so much to do in GT4 that you do not have to pass Mission 34, other than for the 100% completion.

Obviously, if there are people that can pass the mission, and plenty of people have, then it is not impossibly difficult. I am still nearly 10 seconds off and nothing I do seems to improve my time, but that is my problem and not the game's, and it means I just have to practice more.

Hi all...

I see u people have troubles with these missions, but i have to say that these missions are fine with me. I would like they are more difficult. The one i had trouble with was mission 23 (arround 15 times), and those with laguna seca (about 10 times; but it's because i don't like that race at all ). The other missions took about 3-5 times, just to get me car feeling, and the last one i see u have big trouble i passed from 2nd try It's because i like nurburgring and know it very well. In first try i got used to that mercedes, and gearing, and cars (in)stability, and i 2nd attempt i did it. around 4 sec in front od the oldy mercedes (his time was 9:16). That's it. Oh, i have Driving Force Pro. Maybe thats the secret. Personaly, i don't know how can somebady drive with gamepad, but thats only me. I know that if u give me gamepad, i wouldn't last even the first corner

I personally dont care, and I think that 80%+ can be done b-spec, only 2 sections require actual driving. And people shouldnt brag about getting 100% if they have B-Specting through the game (I dont beleve anybody finished the whole game so far without a b-specting a race), and then bash someone having trouble with the 20% that cant be B-spected. Why dont, you live and let live, try not bashing anybody!

(and I know you dont want to back up your post with a picture, that would be something a man would do.)

Much better than gameshark, it has all completed codes for every race in the game, every license, codes that lets you have every purchasable car for 1 credit, lets you get 1 trillion credits, accelerate cars up to 16x faster making 1/4 mile runs in under 2 seconds!, and a whole other bunch of stuff

HOWEVER, the CD only works for US version of PS2, it won't work on Japanese/European/Australian PS2

but when I become frustrated with a race, CodeBreaker is right by my side
besides, like I said, the game ain't even about the races is about the cars and how you hook them up.
I just wished that the upgrading of a car had more of a street feel to it, like NFS Underground 2

Today I needed all afternoon to finally pass Mission 34. After all afternoon trying, I beat it. Finally. I beat the 300SL with 0.3 secs. Overtook him at the start/finish straight. A few times I was very close, got it at 3 secs behind, 2.4 secs, 1.8 secs behind, so it was close but just missed... After many times though, I finally got the mission to a good end. (With Dualshock controller, no steer or whatever)
