Slipstream Missions are the probably the best out of the lots for me. So nice to hear the effect and the thinking need in doing the Skyline one was excellent.

But im stuck in 11-20.... its those one where you have to catch up with various cars but i always end up second. Does anyone have any tips about what I need to do?

Drive faster ;)

I'm by no means fast, so that, apart from "More practice", is basically all the advice I can give you..

Wow sounds awesome, I've only got a controller though...
I think it's fairly safe to say you'll be missing out with only the controller...

One thing I found in Seattle II with the Superbird, when going through the chicane leading onto the straight, 9 out of 10 times, I could, by snapping the wheel, go through the "hole", flat out, resulting in a MASSIVE powerslide with the wing just inches from the wall 👍 .. I'm sure there's people out there who can do it just as precise with the DS2, but I could never master that - with the DFP, it's a breeze (Well, not exactly a breeze, but you get my "drift" ;) )

I feel i pretty much know the course now, for mission 11. However, despite many attempts, i still cant catch up in time with the leader :(

11 is which one ?... It's been a few days since I did this one...

I liked the Missions very much.
The Goldtimes at the Licenscentre were all to easy.

The most challanging Mission was 34. I needed 1h to do only this. I did it finaly in 9:13.

btw
I have a Replay of Mission 34 in 2 Parts. I can upload it if you want?

EDIT:
Mission 11 is Toyota 2000Gt @ New York

Ohh.. Right... The most important part of that track is definitely the roundabout - screw that one, and you're screwed. You should be able to pass the last car before the 180 leading onto the straight - it takes a few attempts but it's not that hard. The 2000GT is actually a nice handling little car...

Ah cheers... the roundabout is hard for me to tackle....being a racing noob skidding around with a controller :)..... I'll try different approach next time

Just make sure you don't stray from the inside curb. IIRC, 70-72km/h is tops if you want to hug the inside...

And you'll LOVE Paris Opera in a Pug 206 Rally Car 👍

mission 10 is the long straight road with 3 cars, rite?
use the car in front of u to gain some speed before you pass them... (is that what slipstream is?? bad english... sorrie...)
you should be able to pass the 2nd car and catch up with the first car by 2nd turn.... then if you make the final turn right, you'll beat it by some decimal seconds... i think i was 0.2 sec ahead when i won it..hehehehe.... just bump the other car out of the way if all else fails.. :P

If that missions are so hard like you say, it's better because the game will be longer!!! Only a month for release in Europe!!!! AAAHHHH!!!!! I WANT I WANT I WAAANT!!!!

Does anyone have any good advice on strategies for the Drafting Mission, the one with the skyline GTRs?

I tried a "leapfrogging" style, but those stupid AI drivers can't get their act together for a bit of team work - the fools just bang into one another and don't get anywhere fast. To get that going at all, I've got to overtake, then position myself directly ahead of the last guy so that he can draft me, then I've got to watch out and get out of his way when he starts to catch up, otherwise he just crashes into the back of my car.

I haven't been impressed with the AI from this game, but this mission is a bit ridiculous when the AI cars are too stupid to get some decent drafting going.

I'll try it again regardless, I'm sure it isn't all that hard.

I've been giving that Mission a few runs lately. So far, the closest I've come is .898 seconds off... Find another GTR and just stick to his ass keeping it floored - On the final stretch, fall back a little and slingshot by the one you've been following, entering the last turn. I'm fairly sure that's the strategy.. And you gotta keep bumper to bumper with the one you're following - And I MEAN Bumper to Bumper...

I completed the SLR/Nürburgring mission some days ago. It is my view that only a small percentage of players will have the skills necessary to unlock the R89C.

Notes:
If you want to make it:
-You will need to pass the SL65 on or immediately following the carrousel.
-Don’t worry too greatly about the SL500

-You will need to pass the 190 E at the beginning of the main straight (about 13 seconds behind 300SL).

This will allow you to get past the SLK before the final corners.

If all goes well, you will be bumper to bumper with the 300SL at the final turn. Victory is in sight.

The R89C is yours!

The End.

This is certainly the Test to own all Tests.. DAMN !.....

Mostly because the SLR handles like a pregnant pig on a spinning dancefloor covered in soap... Man this car sux0rs hard...

I seem to be only able to beat the Cube slipstreaming mission... I can't seem to get anything better than 2nd on the minivan and I can't get within three seconds of the GT-R one.

Can anyone give me some advice as far as these missions go? I'm not too sure how I can improve on my Honda minivan... do I have to co-operate with another van and let him slipstream me? If so, which one? The first I overtake, the 2nd last I overtake? All of them?

I figured out with the GT-R one that I had to 'join the pack' as far as slipstream, but it's kinda hard to co-operate with the AI. Also, if someone can give lap times or split times, that would be a HUGE BENEFIT.

No point in doing laps two and three if I'm a couple seconds behind schedule after lap one, you know? I'd rather restart and get it right, but I don't know whether to continue going on with the current attempt. Nothing more annoying than spending five/ten minutes on one mission and then realizing you're still only going to come second, you know?

Meh!... .350 off in the GTR test...

i got missions 21, 22, and 24 but can't get the Skylines to co-operate with me....
i tried passing them and let them draft me.... nope... they're too slow to do that....
tried following them, nope... i can go faster if i just leave them alone and go on myself...

they are so dumb... i can drive avg 260km/h without their draft, but only avg 255 when in their pack..... some help plz...

all the other 3 missions just stay in the path of the car in front of u and then slip pass them when u get close enough... may be 1/3 - 1/2 car length... then u' should be able to pass...

For the slipstream ones, the only advice I can give is to resist the temptation to try to bump or be bumped by the AI.
Keep it simple. Slipstream past them, then just keep going. They will eventually catch up, get in your stream, and pass you. It might take awhile, but trust me, they will come. Once they are past you, get behind them, and repeat.
It might seem like it is taking too long, but I did it that way and won no problem. Polyphony wouldn't have made a test where you HAD to cheat by bumping the AI. Just leave the other cars alone, they will get the job done for you.

I assume that once you overtake, you switch the view so as you can line yourself up for the other car? Or do you just stick to your line and wait for the other car to overtake? And when you see they're going to overtake, do you try to move out of the way or is it better to stay still?

Of course, let them slipstream off you, but the slipstream is wider than just the width of your car, so you don't have to stay right in front of them. But definately let them pass you, so that you can slipstream off them again. There is a temptation to have them ram you from behind, so that you can get a brief increase in speed, but that is slower in the long run.

Think of it like this: After they pass you, you will DEFINATELY be able to catch them. If they go faster, its the same as you going faster, because no matter how fast they go (in this test), you WILL catch them. So, getting that bump from behind is just as detrimental as you slamming into their rear after slipstreaming, because it slows them down.

WHOA....just finished the 23 mission ..finally :)
...and I think that is by far the best slipstreaming mission ever!!

so basically you just use the 4 skylines in front of you to catch up to the last skyline..

once you have reached the first banked turn(assuming you have been drafting the only skyline in front you), just draft any of the 4 skylines in front of you..
(*)then once you past them, just line your self with the closest skyline at the back of you...let THAT skyline draft ..once its close to you, leave way for it to pass you....then again draft and overtake the skyline that just passed you..

repeat this(*) UNTIL your close enough to draft the "Pole Position Skyline" :D:D

This ends RIGHT here !...

Is there ANYONE out there, with GT4, an Xport or the like, who has actually PASSED Mission 23 in Mission Hall ?... I'm getting seriously infuriated by this test. I've tried it like 30 times, and the closest I've come is .142 second off... This was by following the Black Skyline, bumper to bumper, and the cutting out right before the last corner... My initial theory...

The record at granturismo.de is 1.7 seconds off my best.. Where are those 1700 milliseconds.. Class ?... Class ?... Anyone ?... Bueller ?...

So someone - Please please get me a replay of some sort to show me how this is done...

(I only need to beat this one and 34, and that won't be for another week since we're going to Spain come tomorrow morning)

Thank you for listening.. This will be our Final broadcast for this evening..

Give me ten mins and I will upload a .max replay of the said mission.

Ok, here it is. You will of course need the save converter and the Chinese/Asian version of the game.

As you can see, this mission is not really about driving…in fact I would say that it is artificial bollocks that has little to do with real world racing.

Enjoy Spain.

So how many times should one "slingshot" before reaching the head Skyline in a timely manner?

So how many times should one "slingshot" before reaching the head Skyline in a timely manner?

The slingshot should take place twice a lap (giving you about 280 on each straight). However, once in the curve, I knock it back to fifth so that I don’t lose them completely.

Drive using your rear-view mirror in order to line up with the car eager to pass. Easy...
