I think that it wasn't too bad. Then again, I usually care more about gameplay than graphics. Keep in mind, it's still a work in progress. Besides, we get the Adapta Subaru team, so that's a plus. đź‘Ť Hopefully we see the Monster World Rally Team.

The Monster WRC team was seen in the E3 video while on the driver selection screen.đź‘Ť

Graphics look decent, but from the video the physics look weak and what's up with the road constantly being the same width?

Even though it's still a WIP, the final product won't vary too much as it's only a couple months away from release(according to the release date posted earlier).

Some new info about WRC title for PC\X360\PS3.

Physics are likened to those of CMR 1 and 2. Detailed mechanical and cosmetic damage. Real WRC locations (stages based on locations not carbon copies), the character of each Rally "stands out".

Right. WRC is obviously loosing popularity amongst the manufacturers. But, it'd be a little silly to release a game like this with only...two cars to race. I mean, can you imagine if GT5 was like: 100 tracks..and 2 cars...WOO! Yeah, not impressive.

Bro, GT4 had 2 dozen + rally cars from the 70's till 2k5 the more they add the merrier even if this season we only have 2 manufacturers(3 in Bulgaria when Peugeot made an appearance), but we need them real point to point stages to try out them spanking new physics and VFX\Day-night cycles.

The graphics (screenshots) seem to be very good. I think it's fair to say that we have to wait and try it out ourselves before we can judge the physics engine.

If thats the case then I may be interested again (yes I know I'm fickle), as I loved the arcade balance that CM1 & CM2 managed. CM1 still ranks as one of the finest arcade rally titles ever, still have my PS1 copy and still play it.

Ditto.
I still play my copy of 1 and 2 on my PSP.
Nothing in a game has ever topped the CMR Rally School in CMR1!!!

Looking forward to this alot. Long overdue a WRC game, like F1, and RBR really was the last proper rally game.

Anyway, heres a little wishlist of mine for the game:
- Good length stages, between 3-10 minutes in length.
- Plenty of stages, if theres 13 rounds, 7 or 8 stages per round should be do-able.
- Narrow roads, old CMR games were too wide, didnt feel like a rally, narrow forest and country roads would be ace.
- TV style cam views, like the roof cam and centrally positioned TV cockpit view.
- Good tyre wear, its a huge part of rallying and never seems to get simulated.
- Stage wear, slippy and hard to go fast on gravel if your the first runner, more grip and more rutted if your the last.
- Good weather system, changing weather throughout stages, puddles, sticky mud etc.
- A good career mode, it does say huge career mode so is it too much to ask for the JWRC, PWRC and even Super 2000?
- Realistic damage system, if you clip a rock and roll into a tree, rally over, punctures, damaged suspenion, leaks etc, all the most common rally ending things should be present.
- Be able to create your own team, driver, co driver etc and be able to choose what car you run and its livery (probably a bit much to ask considering the licensing).
- Spectators are hugely important, standing close to the road, almost in the way, helping you out with minor offs etc, all adds to the rally experiance.

And for one last cool feature, small RTE events for changing tyres mid stage and so on, make it more of a challenge to get back on the road and moving.

:)

Add to the above list: when you have a major crash which involves rolling over close to spectators, show some of them being trapped under the wreckage whining "EEEEE I shouldna av got so close to the bloody road .....help me oooot man me legs reet trapped, like."

Umm - is it meant to be in fast forward!

Deeply disappointed, at this rate I'm going to have to dig out my PS2 copy of RBR again.

Scaff

Thats exactly what I did yesterday :) And I was suprised how good the physics still is compared to todays standards! And after all my GT5p driving last years I even drove better then ever before on the France stages. I understand you are good in tuning, if you have some suspension tips for the France stages can you please PM me? Tuning is so complex in RBR.....

I'll probably rent it, but I was originally planning on purchasing it straight away but all this physic's talk and the environments looks pretty poor as well makes me just want to rent it. If I rent it and enjoy it then I might consider buying it. But that era of the year looks to be quite expensive.

an instant difference now I can hear my co-driver and actually predict the corners. From struggling with understeer, suddenly it clicks, I'm really starting to feel the handling. If I was to compare it, I would say it reminds me of Colin McRae 1 and 2 releases in the late 90's, the inertia feels right, especially on the looser surfaces. Then there's the judicious use of the handbrake, critical in hairpins and some negative camber corners where understeer can really affect section times

I'm still on that CMR2 thing, cant get over how much better it is than its successors minus the graphics, but the stages are really well done and just long enough (average 5km).

I heart Kenya!

That would be a good compromise, if it handled like CMR2 instead of say CMR2k5, although after seeing the Mexico stage through Aztec\Maya ruins in the desert (even though most if not all pre-Columbian sites are in the dense jungle surrounded by lush greenery) I can only hope the locations wont be so cartoony in their individual character (ie: Sliding across the halls of Buckingham Palace in Rally GB.)

I say we give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Past videos looked better than this. I suggest waiting for reviews before making the final judgement. Meantime let's keep looking for news/reviews on the sim. It's not like we have many choices for WRC out there :(

Cheers.

Seems like a decent enough car list for this style of game, was hoping for a little more in the terms of classic cars though. Will be interesting how the career mode works, hopefully it utilizes the other classes.

One thing that did confuse me though is this.
How accurate is each stage in comparison with the real stages it is based upon (Width, twistiness, obstacles, etc.)?
Milesonte did visit several rallies and took over ten thousands reference photographs, leading to stages that visually reflect the real WRC stages. No full-length WRC stages are included.

So they look like the real courses, but aren't?

^That pretty much means all course will be fictional (surface wise), only some surrounding will be real.

Disappointing trailer- agree with Scaff. But I guess the game is still WIP (although very near completion) and I've been wanting an official rally game for a long time, so almost a definite purchase for me.

Hoping for a demo.

Good to hear they are planning on releasing it here.đź‘Ť

Career mode also sounds like a good setup.

Still waiting to see how gameplay is though.

i'm going to buy this, even if it sucks. i need a rally game on ps3 and i don't even consider ****** stuffs like dirt.

I have been playing WRC4 again recently and its just making me a little more excited for this game:D

It looks like they are using lot of motion blur. Shift had a stupid blur and over the top effects IMO. I think some location will look good but it will lack polish and gfx of other top looking games. I think gfx are ok

It's too bad the gameplay doesn't look that good in motion.

Those screenshots make it look fantastic, but the physics look awful in all the videos we've seen.
