Ongoing PSN outages

Yep something is definately up with the network at the moment. Its not your internet setups.
The intemittant PSN log on problem turned up at the same time as the ID=2.0 carry on. I've been getting it and we are starting to get more people coming forward with the same problem. Lets just hope a firmware update is not far off.

Out of curiosity what version PS3 are people getting this problem with? I'm using a Fat 60, may have nothing to do with it but who knows?

For those who don't know the hacker group that goes by the name Anonymous has been attacking Sony's servers for the past several weeks in response to the legal actions taken against the jail breaker / hacker geohot who publicly made available a jailbreak / encryption keys ( for home brew) for the PS3. Same individual who wrote the jailbreak for that iPhone you probably have.

Whether the current service outage is a result of their attacks is unknown, as Sony likes to be extremely vague with their consumers, Sony says they will keep us informed.

I also read a probable update is on the way! Fantastic.... Not.

Are you guys on AT&T? I just moved and when I went to register my service, they tell me they were having problems with their servers 2 days ago, same at the bank. All are on AT&T!

Okay so I was able to read up on the situation. But what I'm not clear about is if this affects our personal PS3 security. I mean can they hack my account and steal any info, wipe my HDD? Or are they strictly attacking the Network, trying to keep it turned off?

Its strictly the network. They cant acces your HDD unless you have PS plus in which case there is a 1 in a billion chance they could access the cloud files. (which are limited to 150MB)

Anonymous is not concerned with any data you may have on your PS3. There are strictly directing their attacks towards disrupting Playstation service in retaliation against the legal situation I already spoke of. And yes they settled out of court.

Officially Sony has only stated North America services are interrupted at the moment. But there are UK members that are reporting connection problems as well.
