Oookay, who is up for another tuner challenge?

Uh oh, Tori's Spoon, no way my Tigra stands a chance...........maybe you could intergrate this challenge into the story later? You'd have to buy some of our cars though.:sly:

well, i did try to balance the Spoon as much as possible, it works on me, but IDK if it works on others..,

So I see Kurei and d24/7 have also brought Hondas to the FWD party, good stuff. :D

did you forget? i'm a Honda fan :).., and my Spoon has yet to show its real potential..,

As far as I know there's nothing against it, I'm using it to simulate the effect the 'swapped' B16 my del sol has on the chassis (weight balance, etc), so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to

Your Spoon EK9 and my del sol should make for good rivals 👍

oh i love a good rivalry.., :mischievous::cheers:

Ballast is perfectly fine.

I see.., may have to look at the ballast weight again later, not sure if it's 120..,

This competition is being overrun by Hondas, my Renault may be in trouble. Thats ok, I didn't put much effort into the fwd class.

maybe because we prefer Honda's over any FWD??

I was actually contemplating entering a Chevelle with the instructions to drive it in reverse.

did you forget? i'm a Honda fan :).., and my Spoon has yet to show its real potential..,

Of course I didn't forget, I was simply amazed at the amount of FWD's with H on the front of them. :D

I currently have a couple of cars I wish to try out for N3, gonna have to wait until Wednesday though when I am free of college. :yuck:

Well the reason there's so many Honda's is Honda makes great FF's, I'm just bummed I couldn't build something like this to bring into the competition, would've destroyed you guys

If only engine swaps were possible in GT...

(wait until 3 mins into the vid, that's when he gets agressive)

I decided I am going to join the AWD party, I found an interesting car to tune. I'll probably release it in a couple days. Whens the challenge end?

Also, this is not a car I've talked about in the past, this is one I figured out drove quite nicely last night and decided that I'd enter the challenge with it.

It'll spin until it finally can put its power down then it'll blow past the Corvette at 200mph. :sly:

Not IRL!:P Like I said, it's all a matter of boost in GT4.;)

I only got your 'Vette to go 178.8 mph on the top speed run, but it reached it before the turn, and was still pulling hard as it bounced of the limiter in 6th.

Ah, I tuned the gears specifically for GVS, that should probably be noted when testers are testing.

If Roj's Supra hits Grand Valley first (or any other track for that matter), the amount of wheelspin won't leave any of the track left for testers... then he'll win by default :nervous:!

Yeah, well, I iz specwalz, I has an A.
For english I presume?? ;)

Yeah, well, I thought you were replying to Roj's mention of college.. never mind.. I was going to chuck in a Suzuki for FWD but I gave up on it :(

You always was the odd one out. :dopey:

Oh come on, it's not that bad, is it? I only have 357bhp! :nervous:

I should have done a Toyota to fight off the Honda's. Honda's everywhere.

But mad respect to the CRX del Sol. I love those things. Tuned and sold at least 4 of them. I keeping coming back too them though.

Hey, you said so here:
It'll spin until it finally can put its power down then it'll blow past the Corvette at 200mph.

And besides, my 350Z has similar power yet no wheelspin that I know of. But then I couldn't test it completely on GV due to some unusual craters... ;)

I meant that in regards to the top speed discussion between the Supra and Corvette, when both cars are making max power. :P

This is just a minor request: Can all tuners please put 2 things on their tuning lists. 1) The name of the actual car (no trick tuner names!), and 2) Where to get these cars... because I'm somewhat bad at finding them.

If it's second hand, just a simple early 90's or late 90's will do!

No horsepower caps but it WILL be run on S3s and I want driveability to be a large portion of grading over brute force and speed. Now if a car is ridiculously easy to drive AND fast as all hell, then obviously it will do well.

Ok, I'm not trying to beat this dead, but I think that your clarification allows for my tune. The GSX-R/4 is a concept car, no arguement there, but as I asked for verification about concept cars and/or prize cars, you stated that they were ok, but prefered them to be relatively easy to acquire. So then I settled with that car for my N3 tune.

No horsepower, downforce, or weight balance restrictions were made clear as well.

Your post about judging and scoring pretty much clarified that there was nearly no restrictions about a tune, other than the tires and nothing greatly out of hand such as full blown F1/race cars and the like.

It took quite a bit of time to get that thing dialed in at least to the point that I got it at. I did some of my best driving and got some of my best times on the Nurburgring against 180-200 A-Spec opponents. Will it do any track equally well? I really doubt it. But it is fast, and handles like I like it to.

OK. I have another entry for N3. It is not a concept car, but was soon adopted as a rally car by the company, and can be bought, like the Renault, Peugeot, and Lancia cars in the used car lots in the game. Then again, the Black Cars can be bought there as well, but we all know those are definitely not allowed. What about these 'rally' cars? What about my alternative to the GSX-R/4?

D

PS- This brings to mind the panel and methods of judging this competition. I know that everyone participating is at their own level of experience and skill, as well as the hardware and familiarity they have with it. Seems to me that the judging would be biased naturally in favor of less technical "ridiculously easy to drive" over the "fast as all hell" variety to me.

I dunno, but I sorta got turned off there, but I don't give up too easy neither.

I've used proper names for all my tunes, I'll add the 2nd point you made onto the sheets. 👍
Must have been all that torqqqqqqqqque my car is making, you know, big V8 and all.:sly:
You forget that the Supra also has torque, but at the same time, probably outhandles your Corvette. :sly:

A FTO eh? I was thinking of one of those early on. Then an Accord Euro-R (TCv3 entry). But then I found the wonderful world of the EP Civic Type R. ;)

So a Mitsubishi enters the world controlled by Honda (and Acura because RJ is a newb :P). This'll be interesting.

Oh? Our bad. We'll drive the other way and get the earth rotating again. 👍

Homologation specials, sure. The rally cars that they were made into? No.

I dunno, but I sorta got turned off there, but I don't give up too easy neither.

The entire point of the Tuner Challenges is to make cars that are easy to drive quickly. Not all-out maximum performance possible, but rather a rounded package.

Now then, as to why I don't like the use of the GSX-R/4...

It is an unfair advantage as I mentioned in my previous post. And I don't feel it fits the spirit of the competition.

It's not that your car is over a P:W ratio cap or something to that effect... It is more that including this vehicle gives zero chance to anyone who attempts to use anything different.

You may not be aware of this, but the GSX-R/4 is known on this site (as far as I can tell) as a glitch in the PD programming; almost on par with the Dodge Ram, according to the 200-ASpeccers. I haven't got around to getting the car, so don't have my own opinion, maybe a search for "GSX-R/4 " will give you a general consensus.

Also, it is a bit of effort to get the thing. While it is a prizecar, you need to do two race series to get it, which is a pain for me cause I want to review as many as possible with very little time.

This also raises a philosophical question re: reviewing. Should an average tune of a weapon like the GSX-R/4 beat a brilliant tune of an inferior car with a comparable power/weight ratio (or whatever it is)? I am, of course, not suggesting your tune is average, Spectral, as I haven't tried it.

I will be putting up entrys in each class when I get them finished.
Don't expect anything phenanomal , but quick DS2 built :mischievous:

I agree, and the category (FWD, AWD etc) to which they belong. I'm keeping a list of the cars by category and have had to look many of them up, particularly Mister Black.

I'm guessing your car does not have 750Nm.:P You doubt the Corvette's handling ability?

Yeah, well, thanks to you two testing your cars' torque, the earth's stopped rotating the right way...:dunce:

Oh? Our bad. We'll drive the other way and get the earth rotating again. 👍

I thought the Sun stayed up extra long that one day during testing and set on the wrong horizon.

you guys don't mind if I edited my EK9's setup?? i made corrections, made the ballast HEAVIER :mischievous:

@ mcsqueegy, VTiRoj, Paulie -:lol: funny stuff you got there 👍

*off-topic - great news! i finally have a flash drive!! :D:tup:👍
