I really enjoyed racing a variety of cars when we were doing the tournament style. With that said, it was becoming more of a chore to break in a car and get use to it. I think some of the Alfa racing was getting really competitive because drivers were becoming more comfortable with the car over time. Personally I would prefer more of a commitment to 1 car for 4 weeks or 2 cars for 6 weeks.

^ For the exact reasons you stated we will probably just stick to the Impreza TC. Getting cars broken in is a real chore and I don't want to force you guys to employee Bob every week.

To add to this...

I feel like the Alfa Cup was by far, the peak of this group. It seemed like every night we had great turnouts, and the racing was so intense, the best I've ever experienced with this group. I felt like I had to run my absolute best every time I was on the track because the level of competition was so high, and when I came away with a good result, I was very happy with it.

I never felt the need to get butt-hurt or complain when I didn't have a good result, as long as I raced clean and was raced clean by others. Some of the best battles I had were for mid or rear pack finishes. The biggest flaw for me was my lack of skill/experience.

With all this talk of handicapping, and trying to even things out for everyone, I just feel like things are getting watered down. I improved so much as a driver during the Alfa Cup because I had to in order to remain competitive, and I think my results throughout the season showed that.

I really didn't enjoy the different car each week format, it honestly just felt like open lobby racing. It was a chore to break in multiple cars, and attendance definitely suffered when this was implemented.

I know there is a lot of house keeping for Brandon and a couple of others, but I really feel like the racing will continue to suffer here unless we go back to they way things were during the Capp Cup/Alfa Cup days. There are solutions to take some of the load off, like independent incident reviews and others that I can't think of right now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if it isn't broken, don't fix it... At least to me, it didn't appear anywhere near broken.

This. So much this. Find a car a lot of people like, and do things like you did in the Capp/Alfa days. It'll be fine.

So the idea of a split season with the street and race version of the same car doesn't appeal to anyone but me?:banghead:

Preach. I was burnt out before and needed to try something different, but being removed from it has made me appreciate it more. This will be the direction we go, not exactly as before but pretty close.

Maybe just back down the number of races per week, which will cut down on what you have to keep track of and organize Brandon. Same successful format as the capp/alfa, just less races per week, might save the burn out.

I'm in eitherway.

Prefer one car. If I wanna try new cars I go to open lobbies. At this point though. We kinda all dabbled in a variety of cars.

Yes, I got to scratch my itch for racing other cars and it was a nice change of pace. It also made me miss having one car we all connect to and get to know intimately. And....now that I have a proper Subaru it makes me really want to race a proper Subaru. :) I also think that going to an AWD car could lead to better racing because they're generally easier to control and should help people stay out of trouble. In theory anyway. 👍

Oversteer is part of awd, but so is walking past soccer moms in Escalades in blizzards. I still have the 97 Impreza Outback I bought in 98 and I love the thing almost as much as my dog (who only has four paw drive). Cant wait to run some subies with you guys.

I've been testing it on several tracks and certain turns that are problems in almost all cars are easy in the Preza. And if you get offline it's pretty easy to correct and dial back in, I think it will make for some good racing. It's pretty dang fast too. I've been driving it on sports softs and it has plenty of grip with an occasional touch of slippy.

Which car is "it" we're referring to?

Can we safely say the odds are heavily in favour of this car for the series? Or is it a done deal? I assume we're talking about spec racing yes? Any more details you can give at this point?

I'd say it's a done deal. Same car spec racing, tuning prohibited, SS tires, 4 week season with points, long races (likely with pitstops).

Likely tracks:
Nurb GP/F
Spa (possibly with mild weather?)
Suzuka
Laguna Seca

Win!!!!!
