I didn't know I was lagging at all arie, and I am really sorry for that, If i noticed any lag I would have pulled over for you, so once again I am sorry.

So yep fair enough Oni, I'll see you guys later, don't know whats causing it and have no way of fixing it. Have fun with the rest of the series.

Yeah i don't know what to say mate. I make sure for qualifying to watch everyone for a few laps each to see if there is any lag. You only have very minor lag during qualifying by that i mean there is no warping just more the car looking like its stuttering a bit. Nothing that would cause a concern in a race.

But as the race goes on it just goes crazy. Even when your out their by yourself cruising around with nobody in sight. I have absolutely no idea why it happens.

Any new comer or someone thats a wild card driver that wants to move to full time spot I am happy to donate my R8 and the tune that comes with it (although there is a 99% chance you don't want the rota tune).

That is provided Oni permits it.

No need to feel sorry about it Rota mate as you didn't know what I was seeing. Really don't worry about it at all.

I did feel that the GTR was setup up right for Suzuka to possibly have my best chance of challenging for 1st place with my softs but "stuff" happens. Would have been nice to come away with a win but at least I gave it my best shot.

But I was fearful for my life when I finally did pass you at the chicane. You must of overshot your brake marker but you were on the track, then off the track, then back on the track.

I was just waiting for your car to warp through mine but when I opened my eyes I had some how made it through. Then I think I had about 9 laps to make up 20 seconds gap on leader. In the end I finished 5 seconds behind Oni.

It would be a real shame for Rota to leave the series because of this. Have you made sure you have done all the usual suggested list of things to do to avoid lag (like isolating the connection or going wired). I'll be happy to try a few different things with you to try and help if possible.

hey rota when you join oni's lounge do you click on oni's icon or do you click on someone else?
I've found when i click on oni's icon my car acts weird like last night i click on oni's icon and had a bad night.
Try clicking on someone else to join the room.

Arie man I missed my braking marker hard, ran off then just waited for you to pass as I knew I would have put you off big time, I was wondering why it took you so long to realise and go through haha

No point trying to fix it boys, not worth testing things for only to continue to have issues and ruin someones race, I was hard wired last night and the only person on the internet in the house.

Already looking at iRacing series to take up my monday night race night, have fun and i'll see you guys around

I feel your pain Rota, at the end of our season 6 I was starting to lag. Not sure why. all PC's are off in our house. Internet test is good....I think it is a PSN issue or playstation issue.
I have struggled to complete an internet test on my ps3. Tho since the update the other day my conection does seem to be better.
We have also notice sometime you only have the issue when certain people are in the room.

Try logging into Oni's room early. That sometimes helps (god knows why!?!)

Hey rota maybe someone in your area is stealing free internet off you and monday night is the night, try closing off your wireless ports.

haha Vel, I was 2nd in oni's room last night

Red, I was the only one hard wired in the house and turned off the wireless on the router, no stealing going on here.

Rota u were fourth in room i was second..anyway if rota does not fix connection before next race can i steal his spot in the series as a full time driver? Rather u try sort it first google how to change modem settings to fix it like port settings etc. I just wanted to get in first to take the spot beforr another wildcard does. If that makes sense lol

Nup, haven't played around with ports and stuff on the router, can not be bothered messing things up I would have to spend hours figuring out what to do and don't have the patients or willpower to

Mate i don't know how to do it but google is powerfull easy as dont wanna see u drop out without tryna fix it urr the main one to chase in ur r8 :)

Exactly.. Rota your the carrot all us rabbits are chasing. It doesnt take much to fix port forwarding. You just need to log into your modem and add the required ports for GT5 and PS3.

Here is a guide for routers: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Just look up which router is yours and follow the guide.

Here are the ports for GT5
TCP: 5223
UDP: 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658

Here are the ports for the PS3
TCP: 80, 443, 465, 983, 5223, 10070-10080
UDP: 3478-3479, 3658, 10070

Exactly times two, good guide Oni, or alternatively you can just hit the thing with a hammer (effectively) and assign a Static IP (if you've got DSL) and drop it in DMZ mode (all ports open). Also seems to be equally effective in fixing the lag blues. :)

While I think of it the other thing I did a while go it replace the standard filter with Netgear one, the cable from the wall outlet to the router and the cable from the router to the PS if you're going the hard wire option, seemed to give me some extra speed.

Great guide Oni.... I did this for my connection when i diest started playing GT5 online and def does fix a lot of lag issues. I hope you can sort it out Rota... When you post your times on here I set my tunes trying to reach your time (although my Suzuka tune ended up being woeful)

Alternatively go get NBN. Fibre optic straight to house (which I now run) will stop all your lag issues :)

mrtaital
Work won't commence near him until next year

Assuming an Abbott government doesn't torpedo the rest of the current rollout program (which incidentally won't be completed for at least another 8 years at the current rate there going) and turn it to their 'visionary' FTTN.

I will be right pissed off it it was scrapped, im struggling with ADSL 1 speeds here!

Mate you should see the crap speed we get in rural areas, I was told for years I was on pair gain which a system of sharing phone lines between multiple houses, this was a kick in the guts for ps3 online gaming.

Then one day I was told no all good, had good net since

Well it's 6:45am and this horrible meeting has been dragging on for 30 minutes with no end in sight....So anyone turned any laps at la sarthe yet??

I haven't had any time to set foot at Le Sarthe yet. Come to think of it I actually haven't raced there in while.

So far all I have done is reset my top speed via the test track. All I can say it takes a hell of a long time to get there in the GTR! :grumpy:

Lets hope Rota gets his router all sorted. Then we'll all know what a seriously quick lap time is and we can still look forward to his weekly tyre nominations.

if anyone fancies some more racing on a Tuesday night...we are doing something you guys may have visited before ;)

This is my problem boys, don't think there is anything that will fix my lag

Just don't understand why the bad lag has started now, I know int he past I have had some slight random lag spikes but I knew what that was, it was others in the house using the wireless, when that was turned off I didnt hear anyone saying anything about me and lag in the challengers and SS's last season

Do i win?

Yeah you do MrT. Your only slower than 55% of AU while Rota is 77% slower than the rest of AU.

The problem is not the download speed but the upload speeds. You need to be able to send enough data to all 16 people in the room at the same time.

Going through the replay and watching Rota most of the way, you didn't really start lagging bad until near the end of the race. The start was smooth as was mid race. Once Toiv started catching you on your hard tyres thats when it got a little laggy (nothing major). As it came close to the final stint the lag switched to warp speeds.

Not sure what else there is that i can think of doing to increase your upload rate. Maybe our resident network guy Sir Cactass can lend some of his knowledge?

I never test tune for de la sarthe won't do laps till qualify. Gutted had a crap run at suzuka wasn't fastest out there was trying to get passed taital for awhile at start he was holding me up. Bring on monza!!!

Ok Oni, if it was only towards the end, I might have an answer for that, and it would have to do with someone that was meant to steal the internet at 11, they possibly could have flicked on the wireless on the router a little early... :ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

I was talking to cac aswell and he was wondering what room settings you have it on now? did it change since last series??

anyway whatever the change is there is no easy fix for sorting out that horrible upload rate
