Correcting an accidental double post - opps! :dunce:

Given I've got space to use - quick shout out to Oni for a quite remarkable video production of epic proportions! Also Arie - some of the most life like images from an ORS race i think I've ever seen. Top work gents.

RH for my starting compound and looking forward to seeing everyone on track tomorrow night. :dopey:

ORS GT | ROUND 2 | RACE INCIDENT

Jol and Moon - Tunnel incident - Final Lap
.

A final lap incident was logged for investigation where by an overtaking manoeuvre performed by Jol on Moon resulted in the gain of position while Moon had minor contact with the wall and loss of position.

Prior to the overtake in the tunnel. Moon runs a little wide at the right hander and gets a less than ideal exit. Jol, following closely behind has a good apex at the same corner, is earlier to 100% throttle, and with technically superior car speed by default over the GTR - gets a run on Moon in the short straight to the entry to the tunnel. Moon sensing a potential threat looming, moves to the middle of the road reducing the gap on the right hand side to the tunnel wall, however Moon doesnt close the gap completely...

As both drivers enter the right-handed-tightening-tunnel-radius corner they are, in affect, side-by-side. We observe Jol's speed is now too high to take the corner without using some of Moon's side of the road (despite a momentary lift of throttle), and Moon not expecting Jol to gain ground so quickly, hasn't reduced throttle to be able to negotiate the corner without using some of the inside of the track that Jol car now occupies...

Jol's greater momentum allows him to nose in front of Moon whilst simultaneously drifting to the outside of the track. Consequently, Moon has nowhere to go as Jol's car moves across and in front - ultimately reducing throttle and then applying brake to avoid serious collision with Jol and / or the outside wall.

In this instance, we rule this matter as racing incident given the side by side position of the cars on turn entry. We note that Moon did have opportunity to fully cover the inside line through the tunnel given the pressing threat to position. Further Jol's superior car speed, position and tire grip all lead us to conclude he has technically won the corner and the right choose his exit.

General observations not specifically related to the above.
While Jol and Moon's incident is adjudged a racing incident, drivers are reminded of their general obligations to ensure they are balancing competitive aspirations against giving fellow drivers enough racing room in the spirit of ORS fair racing regulations. :)

Any questions, don't hesitate.

Cheers,

Jas

Jas... I really enjoyed reading that hahaha, it's like I opened a bloody F1 biography and sat in the library for a quiet read! top notch action written down there hahaha Should have a weekly post about the most intense part of the race by jas! :D

no PS3 for me so unable to join tonight :(

it is not broken, just it is set up over a mates house, will collect it tonight

Oh dang =( haha cars run in now also gng do some laps soon early finish at work for me. Great photos arie is that 3d tv?

Well what an emotional roller coaster the Rome round was. I managed to gain a few places from last due to other peoples collisions only to hit the wall all on my own eventually. Then as soon as I exited the pits I spin and hit the wall again so I settle for last.
Race 2 I start first and screw up on the dog leg lap 1 and take damage. I was so angry at myself. So I still manage to hold pace as I am on mediums but then on lap 16 while in 4th I screw up again and settle for second last.
Race 3 mrtaital joins us and so its a SLS front row. I make the jump off the start between them but mrt holds and we fight for a while with an Audi I believe along for the ride.
Then out of nowhere someone breaks a bit too late on the back straight and I get 3 little red circles of damage lol. I managed to hold pace with the damage for about 10 laps and manage to keep it in 4th.
Well 13th and 4th are not the best results but I am going to bed a happy man!!!!

A final note: apologies to anyone I may have bumped accidently. I tried to make sure if I did bump someone, that I made no gain out of it.

Edit: good photo op race 1 lap 9 or 10 at the dog leg, I lost it spectacularly while breaking on the ripple strip lol

Hey, very intense 3rd race, Hatfield I looked at replay and it was me misinterpreting the massive tow I got from all 3 of you, that's why I would like the stewards to look at that crash on lap 7 of the 3rd race, and I am happy to take a penalty for it as it was my fault.

Gutted net went down was lookingi forward to another race. ( race 3 ) to battle it out with rota again. After the start race 1 loosing to many positons that i had to gain back. Managed to gain them back and picked up 2 more to put me in second. At this stage when i got into second i was 5.7 seconds down i think so i thought ill try push rota to make a mistake by cutting his sector times down and make him chew his tyres but he managed to hold on. Good drive rota. Would been better battle if those 4wds didn't luanch so hard. Good stuff lads surprised everyone made it through chichane without drahma at race start

What a fun night

Race 1, Went hards for the first and got a dream run. Keeped out of trouble and maintained pace for a 4th place

Race 2, Started out great, had some awesome battles with jon and jas unitl a crash in the S which I nearly got around sent me to the wall. Still finished 8th

Race 3, Meds, maintained pace and was lucky to see one by one the cars in front go out. Had Mrt and Red in front battling for first so I sat behind and maintained pace to save the tyres for the push to the end. On the back straight corner it looked like Red was lossing traction and slid into Mr T and they got both had damage. Passed Red under breaking and Mr T soon after for my first ORS win ... whoooo

Great night ...

For the new members of the series, please remember to allow some space to the car in front while yiou get use to racing in our series. Until you understand each drivers habits its wise not to push to hard. Maintaining pressure at times is better than diving in and hoping your move pulls off.

Brief summary of my Rome sprint round

Race 1 - RH tyres.

I started near the back and took it easy for the first section of the lap, expecting there to be incidents ahead of me and cars stopped on track. But we were able to get through without major incidents, so the race was on. I just did my best to hold consistent and clean laps and finished in 11th

Race 2 - RM tyres.

Had an incident in the first corners complex. I was able to hold pace but the car would wobble at speed, I was reluctant to pit unless truly needed. But soon realised that I had to, I was going to cause troubles for others drivers being how I was. So i pitted. Figured my race was done, I drove a bunch of good laps and spent quite a bit of time with Oni, some good racing there. I had noticed guys in pit lane from time to time, then 3 or 4 laps from the end I suddenly noticed I was in 6th spot. Huge surprise considering my poor start. I was able to hold position and take a 6th which I was happy with.

Race 3 - RM tyres.

I did a few careful laps at the start, wanting to avoid damage etc. By about lap 4 or 5 I had a bit more room, warm tyres and started to wind it up a bit. Of course that's when I go and put the thing into a wall all by myself :grumpy: I had right front dmg. But not too bad I was able to drive about 1.0-1.5 sec off an okay lap time. I choose to stay out. I'm surprised that I didn't loose too much time to the leaders ( I want to watch that replay to see why ) I went from about 18sec behind to 32sec down in the 15 laps driving with dmg. Finished with an 11th.

So both the last 2 races made me think how I could have gone if I had not been damaged.

All up pretty happy with my driving.

Oh and congrats to Moon for picking up a race win. 👍

FYI race results page shows Suzuka next and then Le Mans but the fastest laps page shows Le Mans and then Suzuka.

So which is Round 4?

Click on the main banner on the opening post (the big one with the Audi and other GT cars in it) whenever your in doubt as that is the one i update and control. Sometimes i make changes which Cac Graphs hasn't picked up on.

Regardless the tab with the championship results will always be the most up to date sheet. The fastest laps sheets etc generally get updated later on.

Suzuka is the next round.

Just an oversite by me Hat. I had asked Oni if the "le Sarthe" round could be shifted, but I missed the "Fastest Laps" table when changing the columns around afterward.
This has now been corrected. (Obviously not spending enough time checking the tables and graphs.)

Cac.

Felt the need to give a big thumbs up to both Cactass and Oni 👍

The quality and level of info in the series graphs & spreadsheets is highly impressive. I had a good look over them today and appreciate the amount of work you guys put in. It really adds to the ORS.

Just wanted to give it a mention.

FYI I am practicing in my lounge this morning. All welcome. Although I have turned off damage as I am doing tire life tests but we can turn it on if we want to have some race practice :)

ORS GT | SEASON 1 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

Round 4 we head to Japan for a 35 lap race around the Suzuka Circuit.

ORS_GT_S1_R4_zps3ef298e1.jpg

The ORS white line rule applies at all times during qualifying and racing. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently or frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS GT season 1. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding pit exit you cannot cross the pit exit line when exiting the pits. Please use common sense when you merge onto the racing line. Remember the car behind has right of way when you exit the pits. You may enter the pit at speed without incurring a penalty.

If you do have an off be wary of the reduced grip level once you've rejoined the track. Also when rejoining, please aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

You must ensure your car is set to the ORS GT Specifications as shown on page 1 before scrutineering begins. Once scrutineering has started you are prohibited from entering the tuning screen. Failure to comply will result in an immediate -15 point penalty each time you enter the tuning screen. Failing after race scrutineering will incur a -25 point penalty.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for Monday night.

rotamasta7 - 25kgs (1405kg)
redness-63 - 25kgs (1405kg)
moon95g - 35kgs (1415kg)

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Now finally all drivers must make sure they submit their tyre choice for qualifying/race start by 11:59pm tonight. Once your tyre choice has been submitted you cannot change it.

Regards,

Oni
ORS Committee

Had a local help me out while testing at suzuka...

Update: After doing a quick test my avg lap times on mediums were in the high 2mins (2:00.7xx to 2:00.9xx) with a best tyre shredding qually lap being a 2:00.659.

Anyone else have some lap times for everyone to compare and check their pace against???

Great shots Mic! You really know how to capture the action. The details on the premium cars look awesome.

LOL at Rota's tyre nomination. Don't know how you keep topping yourself every single week mate.

Thanks for sharing your times Rota. With regards to lap times my best last night was 2:01.9s. With averages still low to mid 2:02s.

I will be online later tonight to try and improve my consistency. Hope to catch a few guys online for some practise laps.

Oni, Please put me down to qualify on MEDIUMS tomorrow night.

Thanks for the thanks, guys.

Anyway I'll be putting on HARD tyres for the start of Mondays race.

Also getting the image above I had an awkward moment. I did a GIS for variations on 'hard tyres', and 'hard racing' and then 'hard man' and after hitting return, "Oh Cr@p I think safe-search is off!! what am I about to see??"

It was fine.
