Oni,
Just noticed that you've now changed to Sunday qualifying. ...I can't make that, so I guess it will be starting from the pits for me ...:-(
Cheers

Good to see you back Rod!!

We had to have a change, qualifying was starting later and later each week which would see a reduction of laps or a much later finish then anticipated which would make it close to midnight for our chaps across the ocean.

Scrutineering is a must in this season due to the variations in all cars and their tuning but only takes 3-4 mins before we do set out to qualify.

edit: I would love if GT allowed us to start from pit lane!! But alas no :(

Not a problem Rod. You will be required to start from the back of the grid on your chosen qualifying/race start tyre.

Lol... Thanks mate :-)

I understand the reasons behind it, but unfortunately it makes much harder for me. ... But that is okay, love a good challenge. ..lol

Looking forward to the race

ORS GT | ROUND 7 | QUALIFYING RESULTS

Congratulations on Pole for tomorrow night Toiv. Looks like tomorrow will be another close race for all.

ORS_GT_R7_Qualifying_zps389b417b.jpg

It was really interesting how qualifying finished up yesterday. Well done Toiv on finally breaking the RRR lock down on poles.

Judging by the times, tonight looks like its going to be some really close racing in all 3 sprints. Only 0.296s split between the guys on Mediums and only 0.370s split between the top 5 guys starting on Hards.

@Mic, Nice photos there. I really didn't miss rear ending Jol by that much from that angle.

@Taital, Awesome photos there capturing the action and telling a good story there. Really love the shot of the glowing brakes also.

@Rod, Good to have you back racing with us again mate. I feel that you and the Mclaren will get along just fine.

Nevermind..

Great finish time cactass. Ull rip past me and gtv off the line anyway

Funny i beat Gtv by .001 lmao close

From my testing yesterday my medium tyre times would put me in P1 and P3. Race 2 or 3 will be intense..

Taital, Lost and I didn't really run any practise races after everybody left the lobby last night :sly:

Qualifying times become irrelevant if you are building castles in the sand, touch the grass and spin 180 degrees, understeer into the tunnel wall or if you run wide going down the back hill and slam into that little concrete barrier that sticks out at full speed. :indiff:

Yeah I know the one, found it in practice. It's got a very helpful arrow painted on it to remind you of where you were meant to be going.

Haven't been reading the rules again i see :P

Yes scrutineering is both before and after qualifying and races.

Well the surprise round at GVE had ups and downs. Mostly downs for me though :(
Race 1 I started 14th and made my way up the grid off the line thanks to 4WD.

I didn't have the pace of most other drivers but I make a wide Lambo so had some good battles in the pack until an accident ahead meant I had nowhere to go except into the side of lost. So Race 1 I came 15th.

Race 2 with the reverse grid saw me 2nd next to Rod who missed Race 1. Off the line he got a really good start and I couldn't take him into turn 1 and away he went from there. I held a good 2nd until somebody managed to get by and then soon after jasr and asuka caught up. Once again however the wide Lambo proved to be hard to pass.
As I was poised to take my first ever podium, lap 16, asuka was a bit too close going into the tunnel and tapped me in the braking zone. Luckily no damage was taken however, the very next lap the same happened but with more force and jasr hit the other corner braking for the slow right hander as I was wobbling with the damage from asuka. I pitted and managed 11th.

Race 3 I got a good start and had a hold your breath moment threading through some cars. After all was sorted I had 5th then 3rd then 4ththen 5th again until evan got me where asuka had the last race. I went on as the damage was minor, however he got me real good going into the final hairpin and I took massive damage.
I pitted and started going around again, spinning once and losing more positions until collecting mick as he had damage in front of me and couldn't control the steering.

A disappointing round. :(

a very arverage night for me :(
no pratice, race one on hards went ok, i was happy to sit at the back and get in the flow of things. then, while have a great battle going into on of the last turn I notice MIK in front of me suddenly go flying into the outside barrier! Must have a been a lag hit, I slowed anyway but in the process I spun myself and had to pit. rest of the race was a right off with a few spins from pushing too hard. (I was on hards)

Race 2, Mediums,
The GT-R was quick on the turns, but I got swamped into turn two (I think i tapped a Ford GT so kept to the side out of the way) anyway, a loanly race on my own at the back, then was following Mr T in his closing laps and as he finished his race his B Spec took my out. no biggie, it was very funny but still :)

Son number two woke and that killed my final race.

The Nismos on Comfort Softs were awesome, that they were grat races and some bonkers drifting too!

then was following Mr T in his closing laps and as he finished his race his B Spec took my out. no biggie, it was very funny but still :)

Haha yeah! I'd just crossed the line and let out a sigh of relief for having a good result and all of a sudden BANGGG i thought "WTF WAS THAT?!" then i realised that you were behind me as i crossed the line, in A-Spec i pulled over to the left and backed off (like they do at Bathurst to achknowledge the crue but the B Spec had a different idea and just turned left!!

Ironic though because the same thing happened to me in Race 1, I came across the winners at the wrong place, I had to overtake second whilst turning into the tunnel and then toiv's car was in the middle of the road in the tunnel and I didn't know what side to try and overtake on and I nailed him from behind, got front and engine damage but was lucky I had enough gap to protect it despite a hairy moment at the last corner (sorry ev or mic!)

Here is my race summary:

Race 1 – Some how avoided the carnage in the tunnel. Had a great battle with Oni and Jol on Hards for pretty much the whole race. Good work by Oni to pull away and bad luck by Jol to go wide on the last lap. Happy to finish relatively high on the Hards.

Race 2 – Managed to stay out of trouble again and was enjoying a good race against Hatfield and Jasr until Lap 15. Not sure what happened but for some strange reason my front end just gripped unexpectedly going into the tunnel which caused me to hit the inside wall. Bounced off and unfortunately collected Jasr pushing him into the outside wall.

Then the incident between Hatfield and I on Lap 17 happened. From my replay review, I have tapped the Lambo’s rear end going into the tunnel. With all momentum lost, I tuck in behind Hatfield but Oni has the speed as we all head out of the tunnel. Oni takes the outside line for the tight right hander which I only realise at the last moment. The Lambo is on the brakes a fraction earlier than I’m expecting so with Oni blocking my left side and a wide Lambo blocking my front side the only place for me to go is right to take the unplanned inside dive.

Unfortunately I was unable to avoid contact so immediately let Hatfield back through after the next left hander. Turns out the Lambo’s damage rendered the car undriveable as it starts grinding the wall. I felt at the time it was a racing incident so continued to race. As I said last night I’m happy for the Race Stewards to independently review the incident and judge accordingly. Actually looking forward to a detailed technical report from Jase.

Race 3 – Knew it was always going to be a tough race with everybody on the mediums. I do recall seeing Rod on the starting grid but didn’t realised he dropped off my screen as I was too focused on racing. Thought he might of D’cd again. Hopefully it didn’t cause other guys too much issues. Pushing as hard as I could just to keep up with pink thing but couldn’t hold on in the end.

Ballast Allocations for Sprint Rounds

I have noticed that I have been allocated ballast based on overall points for all 3 races. However I feel that this is slightly unfair as it doesn’t reward consistent driving and I don’t benefit from all the those points in the championship standings but am slugged with the weight penalty regardless.

Overall Points
186 TT-R_Toivo
166 asuka611
160 Oni_chan
159 mrtaital
150 jasr73
148 GTP_Vanquish

Counted Points
136 TT-R_Toivo
125 Rod_AUS
118 mrtaital
116 Oni_chan
116 asuka611
113 GTP_Vanquish

Hypothetically speaking if you won 2 races and came last in the other race or couldn’t complete it for some reason or another you could potentially avoid ballast all together.

Therefore I am proposing that ballast should be awarded based on “counted points” from this point forward. Hopefully you agree with my logic and consider the rule modification.

Hey

Race:1 Very disappointed in being held up and or blocked by cars being laped, poor form.
Race:2 Just cruised around on hards and finished 10.
Race:3 Should have realised that the cars in front of me would all have the red mist on.
HATS tried to put he's car into a gap that was not their and hit lostvan who hit me making me spin, had fun sitting on lostvan's tail for about 9 laps .

Hey Guys, great to be back!:)

Loved the race last night. It was just awesome to see on these great cars on the track, specially the fact that was 16 of them!!!!

Thanks a lot for the help getting the car setup Jon, the car felt great and I would have struggled without your help, so again, thanks mate!

I was frustrated when I got booted from the room just before race 1...I was really looking forward to it, but at least got the last 2 races.

Race 2 was really lucky for me, as I had pole for missing the first race...managed a nice 8s gap from second which Mr.T managed to quickly get down to 3s with about 2 laps to go making me very unconfortable....at the end it all work ok.

Race 3 starting as a waiting game (I also remember seeing Arie at the start, but just like him, I was too focused to noticed that he disapered later)..I hold back a bit behind Mr.T and Oni and once it was safe to do so, I start attacking....lap by lap it seens that people were having issues and going to the pits so after a nice battle found myself in 4th.....last lap was very interesting with Mr.T again getting too close for my liking, but again, managed to hold him off enough to cross the line in front.

Once again, great races, great car, great organization....well done Oni, awesome job mate:tup:

Looking forward to Spa

Go Team Mclaren! lol

Sorry about that. The gap looked to be there for me and just as I was about in it the back end of mine just tapped the front of lost but only barely. Then I let off going into the first corner as 3 wide would never work.

(faintly, in the distance, can be herd the sound of a coin being dropped into a coin slot.......)

1. There is no rule defining protocol during a sprint round with regards to ballast. O_o
2. Precident. ORS S9 R3 :- P2-jol_1 = 0kgs, P3-asuka611 = 25kgs. You're getting "lucky" a second time.
3. I agree with your logic. Each driver has to drop 1 whole round each season before deciding the winner. If "Champagne" is handed out AFTER the points are deducted, then so should "Penalties" be handed out AFTER points have been deducted.
4. It's Oni's comp, so what he chooses, goes. (I like it better when it's written down tho. ;) )

Race:1 Very disappointed in being held up and or blocked by cars being laped, poor form.
CHEERS redness-63(;)

Appologies for the hold-up out of the tunnel. With all the excitement of having a loose, followed by not being able to avoid Lost, pitting for Hards, and cruising around in 8th spot, I couldn't see the top or bottom runners on the name list, so when I saw you and MrT battling in the rearview mirror, I couldn't tell if you were up the front or coming up the pack after a major issue. I tried to hold a partial covering line coming into the right hander after the tunnel, but got steamrollered.
Sorry. I always jump out of the way once I know I'm down the bottom.

Arie - As per previous seasons when ballast was introduced we combine all 3 races total points minus fastest laps and pole position points (as this indicates their performance during a round) and those with the 3 highest points are classified as podium finishes.

Based on the above that would mean the podium result for round 7 is as follows;

1st - TT-R_Toivo | 186pts
2nd - asuka611 | 166pts
3rd - Oni_chan | 160pts

It's been this way for awhile now so I'm assuming you brought this up to help newer drivers to the ORS in not thinking the rules are made up on the fly.

2. Precident. ORS S9 R3 :- P2-jol_1 = 0kgs, P3-asuka611 = 25kgs. You're getting "lucky" a second time.

I believe Jol came 3rd in overall points that race by only 1 point to Arie. Jol being 175 and Arie being 176. Unless i made a mistake with my maths which as you know happens. Then i apologise for that mistake.

Hey
For those of you who may have had the same problem as CAC i was in first place, VH MIK moved over and let me passed but MRTAITAL did not so i was stuck behind him for 2 laps with toivo catching up and then 2 laps stuck behind CAC. I had to fight my way passed them which in the end cost me lead.

Hey HATS
Not a problem i should have realised that turn 1 would have been chaos and backed off so my bad really.

CHEERS redness-63(;)

So my race summary went like this;

Race 1 - rubbish. Lag spike up the back end finished the race.

Race 2 - cr ap. 2 cars in front bash together on turn 2 and I had no where to go. Smacked the car in front. Race over after only 2 corner. Car wouldn't turn left. knew I would be lapped, didn't see the point in getting in everyone's way so parked it.

Race 3 - sh it. Got a great start, tucked up behind jol. Lap 2 made a small mistake heading into tunnel, hardly lost any speed and then got reamed from behind. Rear Suspension damaged, and banged me into the wall. Could see the trail of cars behind me, so kept off the racing line as to not cause any more prangs. Then couldn't be bothered wasting my only set of mediums for the race so battled on.

All in all - wasn't a pleasant night. Ended up frustrated and rage quit after post race checks.
Hopefully at Spa I can make it past 2 laps without damage.

See you all on Monday.
