Option 2 for me as well, but ill go with anything.

I thought after my qualifying I was a good chance at this track for a good result and got a great start on the first race start. But as normally happens I used all my luck up on the first start and the second didn't go so well. I heard the screeching brakes of arie behind but didn't get a hit so thought all was good but as arie said I still got hit coming out of the corner. Back of field with damage but not quiet bad enough to come into pits, still lost a sec or so a lap but battled as much as I could to keep the pace up. In the end had an ok result considering but could have been much better.

Not problem Arie, was a racing incident in my eyes and just one of those things with these cars. Me on hard tyres with a lambo that is not the best at pulling up and you with med tyres and good brakes.

See ya all next week to battle again.

Option 2

Family commitments make it harder for me to get on any earlier, but I'm happy to go with the flow.

Separate qualifing session opens up having a different car qualifing setup.....
If that makes sense?.........

I'll take your word for that Red. You'll get points for 15th place minus 25 points for missing after race scrutineering.

On to other business.

As you all might remember i suggested we move the qualifying to Sunday evening/night to ensure the race does not get delayed on Monday nights. Therefore i would like everyone to post their preference from the below;

Opt 1. Monday Night 8pm
Opt 2. Sunday Night 8-9pm
Opt 3. Sunday Night 7-8pm

Once we have a time suitable for all we will move qualifying to that day/time.

Cheers,
Oni.

1st preference - 1
2nd preference - 2
3rd preference - 3
Option 1 & 2 will be ok while no daylight savings in effect. Option 3 - I would be late sometimes from getting home from work.
Option 2 & 3 will mean ORS require 2 nights per week attendance and possibly greater lifestyle conflicts.

Gee my race:

I had done pretty good lap speeds during practice. But could not bring that to race night . . .

meme37839779_zps2bf252c5.jpg

Still I think I did pretty well. I could hold and race with the people around me, which is going good with the guys in this series.

Downside: my pit box was right near the pit entrance so the car would almost be stopped, driven in between the pit crew guys before the options box would appear. That didn't help, plus my lengthy 2nd stop, less said the better.

I had a good late battle with Jasr, he was doggedly trying to get by me, drafting and sitting really close. Was pretty cool, the power of the GT kept me ahead. I was on tyres that were 3 or 4 laps older. So eventually I had a loss of grip and an error getting all out of shape trying to accelerate out of the 2nd chicane. So Jasr got away.

I drove clean, with enough positives to take away from that round.

Oh and for the quali options: I would prefer Sunday night, either time would be ok. It might bring a new aspect to the series having quali and the race 24hr apart, you can get an indication of how well you're running, with time to do something about it.

Ok it looks like the majority is leaning towards 'Opt 2. Sunday Night 8-9pm' therefore we will be trialing qualifying on Sunday night starting this weekend.

Room will be open at 8pm Sunday nights. Once all have entered the room we begin scrutineering. Qualifying will still be limited to 30minutes with scrutineering before and after qualifying.

Now with qualifying on Sunday nights it does open the door for a qualifying setup and race setup. I have no problems with this as everyone will still be competing on the same level during qualifying and race in terms of their setup.

The deadline for deciding on your qualifying/race start compound will now be moved to Midday Sunday.

Cheers,
Oni

Gents,

This is a heads up to any wildcard drivers. Due to a work roster scheduling change in order to accommodate family commitments, I will not be attending next weeks race (Round 7 - Madrid), as well as the already scheduled absense from the following race (Round 8 - Spa Francorchamps). :grumpy:

Anyone looking for a race is welcome to jump into my spot.

Tables and Graphs will continue to be updated as information and replays are sourced from anonymous donors. :sly:

Changes at work have thwarted my plans to change shifts, so I'm having to revert to plan 'B' regarding my attendance for the family social event.
What this means, at this stage, is that for this Monday night (Round 7), I will be available again for the ORS race. 👍
Sorry for raising the hopes of any wildcard drivers on a possible vacancy for next Monday. 👎

Thanks mate. I do still feel bad about the fact that I caused you damage as I really should have known better. :dunce: It's definintely a mistake that I will learn from and hopefully not repeat again for the rest of the season.

Sounds good Oni,

Will do my best to get on earlier but chances are I will only be able to log in just before 8:30pm. Hope its not too much of an issue!?

I'm sure there will be a few guys up for some spot races after qualifying! :)

Here is my opening 9 laps

Massive lag spike on lap 2, ALMOST took out Oni as a result!

Then spun on lap 9 pushing too hard:yuck:

ORS GT | RACE 6 | STEWARDS REVIEW

Hey Oni...guys...how have you been?

Hope everything is ok.

Well, I was hopping I could join you guys in one of the next races....please, let me know if and when could I do it :)

Cheers All,

Hey Rod,

You are welcome to join the next race (this monday) and any future rounds if you have the time as unfortunately Vend had to pull out of the series due to work commitments. Therefore if you would like to replace him you will need to jump on the McLaren MP4-12C along side Jon.

Let me know what you want to do mate.

Cheers,
Oni.

ORS GT | SEASON 1 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

Round 7 we head into the minds of PD for a 3 x 18 lap sprint race around their fantasy track Grand Valley East Reverse.

ORS_GT_S1_R7_zps02d8a7e0.jpg

The ORS white line rule applies at all times during qualifying and racing. Pay special attention to all the chicanes and corners coming onto the back straight. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently or frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS GT season 1. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding pit entry, if you enter the pits at full speed your car will get reset costing you valuable time. I would suggest entering between 120-150kph. When exiting the pits please use common sense when you merge onto the racing line. Remember the car behind has right of way when you exit the pits.

If you do have an off be wary of the reduced grip level once you've rejoined the track. Also when rejoining, please aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

You must ensure your car is set to the ORS GT Specifications as shown on page 1 before scrutineering begins. Once scrutineering has started you are prohibited from entering the tuning screen. Failure to comply will result in an immediate -15 point penalty each time you enter the tuning screen. Failing after qualifying/race scrutineering will incur a -25 point penalty.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for all 3 sprint races this Monday night.

Cactass - 35kgs (1315kg)
vh_mik - 25kgs (1405kg)

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Also I'd like remind everyone to be aware that the chat channel should not be used during the race as this can cause distractions to other drivers. If you make a mistake and need to apologize for it then i suggest you PM those involved. The chat channel should only be used by stewards to call race restarts.

Now finally all drivers must make sure they submit their tyre choice for qualifying/race start by 12pm (Sydney time) today. Once your tyre choice has been submitted you cannot change it.

Regards,

Oni
ORS Committee

I watched the Monza replay the other day, grabbed a few images.

Not too many though, but thought I'd share:

@Oniichan: I reckon that I often keep an eye on your great series. All seems very well organized and it's always a pleasure to read your OPs. This is really awesome for Australians and NZ guys to have an organizer like you. I don't know if you're alone to manage all this hard work but in my humble opinion, you deserve a lifetime premium membership. All Oceania community owes you.
Keep up the great work.

Best regards.

Will

EDIT: Actually, you are 2, but jasr73 is already Premium :P

Hey Litchi,

Thank you for your kind words. As you know it has very difficult organizing a racing series and having it take away a lot of your spare time, but in the end it is all worth it to be able to race with such great people from the Australian and New Zealand GTP and GT5 communities.

Luckily i am not alone in managing the ORS anymore which does help relieve some of the workload and allow me to have time to enjoy the series.

In the end what is a series without its drivers and i believe the success of the ORS is all due to its participants. After all where would the ORS be without them.

Thanks again for your comments and recommendation for premium. ;)

One day when Australia gets better internet connections I'd love to take the ORS worldwide and race with you, but until then happy racing mate.

Cheers,
Oni.

A few images from Monday's race.

A few laps later at turn 1 attacking the curbs.

A few laps after I manage to get passed Mik, but he continues to apply the pressure.

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_14_zpsdb6b48b0.jpg

A few laps after our first stop i fall back in the reach of lost, lost was pushing me for all I had left in me, we came across red's stricken car, i turn to far out of the corner and struggle to get the car going in the right direction again.

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_15_zps38461170.jpg

Unable to get the car back i run wide and touch the grass, chaos was to follow.

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_16_zpsd5959b1e.jpg

I spin in front of lost, lost has nowhere to go until...

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_17_zpsfa3fde60.jpg

With my car sliding across the circuit, lost does his best to avoid contact but the SLS AMG is to long and we have contact.

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_18_zpsf75dfe33.jpg

Unsure of how much damage I got from the incident I try and drive on but with my rear tyre facing away from the rest of the car i'm left with little option but to not fight the car and turn with the damage into pit lane.

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_20_zps5f100054.jpg

A new set of tyres mean i'm fighting to get them up to temp whilst under attack from the Dodgy Boys.

The pressure continues from Oni

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_22_zps65d5e7f7.jpg

After I slightly cut the first part of the back chicane I try to move aside and let Oni passed but also try and slot between him and Jasr, wasn't enough room and Jasr and myself have contact, I slide out but manage to keep the car moving and none of us get damage.

AutodromoNazionaleMonza_23_zps79b48e1a.jpg

Reverse angle you can see Jasr react as my car may slide back in his path, luckily it doesn't.

That's all i've captured from the race as I ended up last and there was no other notables besides some crashed on my part.
