Off topic, from the Telstra 500 today at Homebush - couldn't find a C6 or a RX8 unfortunately.

Bowie drove the absolute crap out of that after the CPS lol

ORS | SEASON 8 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

For the finale to season 8 we head to the much loved Circuit de Spa-francorchamps for 48 laps in the dry. The weather forecast shows sleet and this will be included on race start, however the remaining race will be in dry conditions.
See track settings at the end of the post for details.

ORS_S8_R8.jpg

This track is very straight forward with the ORS white line rule for all corners. Take special care around Eau Rouge (Turns 3,4,5) to avoid cutting the white lines on entry, mid corner and exit. If you do cut the corner by accident you MUST let off the gas for 2 seconds and/or if you gained a position you must yield and move back into your previous position. I will note that you cannot use any run offs unless used to avoid causing an accident.

If you are found to be cutting corners consistently and/or using run offs to gain advantage frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 8. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding the pit exit at Spa-Francorchamps, it will spit you out straight onto the racing line if you are giving full gas while in auto drive and cause you to cut the pit exit line. I suggest keeping it at half throttle and some steering to the right to ensure you do not cut the exit line and pull in front of other drivers coming out of turn 1. Once out of the pits keep right. Remember the car behind has right of way so please use common sense to avoid any collisions.

If you find yourself off the track be mindful when rejoining, please be aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for Monday night.

Tier 1
TTR-Toivo - 70kgs
Rod_AUS - 70kgs

Tier 2
Jol_1 - 70kgs
redness-63 - 25kgs

Tier 3
Cactass - 35kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Now finally this track has officially been declared a dry race. Everyone will need to provide me with their qualifying/race start tyre by 11:59pm tonight.

The settings for qualifying are:
Weather at Start: 0%
Surface Water: 0%
Weather Changeability: 0

Race Start settings are:
Weather at Start: 0%
Surface Water: 30%
Weather Changeability: 0

Oni

Med for me if it's not raining.

Hey oni what is the cut off point for a wet race, i mean even if it's 1% wet does that mean you don't have to use all the tire compounds or is there a % when that cuts in like 60% or will you tell us this before the start of the race.

There is no rain for this race. There will only be some sleet on race start (30% surface water on race start) to simulate the sleet, slippery surface which will dry up quite quickly but make the opening laps a little slippery.

mediums please fella and the same for pepper if he hasnt already sent you a message

Just a heads up to all regarding Season 9. As Christmas is almost upon us we will not be able to start Season 9 until after Christmas/New Year. I will put up some filler racing for those that have time. Suggestions are also welcomed.

Just keep your eyes on this topic as i will put all filler races in here rather then make new topics. If people want to do pre-season 9 testing then let me know and i will post the car specifications for Season 9.

how about revisiting past seasons Oni as a filler between seasons?
We did a night of doing this the other week with the OzCoMoBros and it was great to dust off the old cars.

If season 9 will be starting in 2013 and I would like to regain my full time drive please.

Yeah the ORS will have to resume in 2013 as the next few mondays are 24th (day before Xmas) and 31st (New Years) which would mean there would be at least a 2 week break in between round 1 and 2 which i believe is to much gap to keep the momentum. Hence the fillers required for the 17th and 24th.

Perfect Idea Velly!.. Thanks for that.

Here we go the details for the next couple of weeks before season 9 starts in 2013.

Monday 17th December
- Nissan Silvia S15RM (ORS Spec)
- 6 Races, 10 laps each race

Monday 24th December
- Lexus ISF-RM (ORS Spec)
- 6 Races, 10 laps each race

They are not concrete but let me know if your keen or have other suggestions.

Hey Oni,

I will be off on holidays from 24th and only return on the 10th of January, so only after that I will be able to join you guys.

From that point on, and as I previously mentioned, I plan to be full time.

Thanks mate

What a finish to the season, sat on the grid, then mother-in-law walks intot he room as said i need to put the baby to bed (wife is already alseep in readyness of the night shift lol) bugger!
pulled over, got the baby down in one lap, set off but he never settled, took a few stops to get him down (in the end woke up the missus and got her to do it lol)
Ended up 8 laps down, but had a few good little battles (without trying to hold people up)
Looking forward to the next season, it is alway great fun racing on a monday...just hope i can get soem practice in cos at the moment i am just arriving and driving lol

ORS | SEASON 8 | CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
winnersCup.gif

What a fantastic season it has been with close racing throughout the field. I'd like to thank everyone who participated in season 8 and followed the ORS rules to keep the racing honest and close. The ORS wouldn't be as successful without its drivers. It's been a great year for the ORS and 2013 looks like it will be no exception. We have lost a few drivers but also gained more with the inclusion of the OzComoBros brining a new level drivers to the series. Once again thank you all for participating and special thanks to Jase and Cac for their stewarding and graphing throughout the series.

I'd like everyone to congratulate the following drivers for an excellent drive throughout the series to take top honours in their tiers.

Well it was an interesting night for me, got caught out on the start and didn't put throttle down till the 10s mark so i had no revs, knowing the guys in front of me had mediums i had no intention of trying to keep up with them, pretty much pussy footed my way around for the first 5 laps with the drying track on hard tyres. Did end up spinning on lap 8 at the twin left handers by touching the astro turf and spinning infield, it gave me left rear damage but boy did it feel like the tyre fell off as i could barely keep it straight.

Pitted the same lap for mediums, managed to get 20 laps out of them before pitting on 28 knowing i had to do a repeat performance to finish without stopping, went out driving economically but got in a couple of mini races on the way with Jasr, Velly, Saltana (original move on saltana was hampered and caused my car to act violently to avoid a collision, so i pinned my ears back and wanted to get passed him as soon as possible). Saltana ran wide which gave me an easy pass, i hoped he would hold Jol up but sadly Jol got passed him and set sail for me.

I could tell Jol was also saving his tyres as he wasn't catching me quickly, when he eventually did i was struggling with rear grip and did my best to hold him out, including running 2 wide through the last two corners and managing to hold the position on the outside. Jol got passed me and set sail, knowing red and saltana got booted off the server and Velly was on dad duties early on I knew i had second wrapped up.

Absolutely amazing race where i made little errors and was happy to recover from an early pit stop to get 2nd outright before other players were booted.

Congrats to Jol on his title victory and also some amazing battles through this season.

Congrats to Oni for winning in such a competitive and fast tier

Congrats to Cac for, well you should've won anyway haha

I appreciate the help and support of Oni and Jasr throughout the tough times this series and also their work throughout the entire series.

Cac your graphs are amazing and I know how much time you put in to them and I can guarntee we all appreciate the effort you put in.

Looking forward to the flashback races over the next few weeks and I wish all of you a very merry christmas and a prosperous new year.

MrT

During my hard tyre stint this is what i got stuck behind and boy was i scared to even get near them (Arie & Maggo). Talk about new ways to overtake!
