ORS | SEASON 9 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

For Round 6 we head to the much loved Circuit de Spa-francorchamps for a 38 lap race.

ORS_S9_R6_zps7e27f7be.jpg

This track is very straight forward with the ORS white line rule for all corners. Take special care around Eau Rouge (Turns 3,4,5) to avoid cutting the white lines on entry, mid corner and exit. If you do cut the corner by accident you MUST let off the gas for 2 seconds and/or if you gained a position you must yield and move back into your previous position. I will note that you cannot use any run offs unless used to avoid causing an accident.

If you are found to be cutting corners consistently and/or using run offs to gain advantage frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 9. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding the pit exit at Spa-Francorchamps, it will spit you out straight onto the racing line if you are giving full gas while in auto drive and cause you to cut the pit exit line. I suggest keeping it at half throttle and some steering to the right to ensure you do not cut the exit line and pull in front of other drivers coming out of turn 1. Once out of the pits keep right. Remember the car behind has right of way so please use common sense to avoid any collisions.

If you find yourself off the track be mindful when rejoining, please be aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for Monday night.

Tier 1
TTR-Toivo - 35kgs

Tier 2
mrtaital - 70kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

I will need everyone to provide me with their qualifying/race start tyre by 11:59pm tonight.

Finally i have been notified by the stewards that there were some infractions during round 5. Warnings/Penalties will be applied to those involved. As myself was included in the infractions the Incident report will be handled by Jase who will post the warnings/penalties to the drivers involved.

Regards,
Oni

ORS | SEASON 9 | ROUND 5 | STEWARDS FINDINGS

Hi all, firstly apologies for the delay in getting assessment requirements out in a timely manner this week.

This round presented drivers with some tricky challenges specific to the Daytona Road course circuit. Pit entry and exit are unique to this circuit, as is the left-short straight-right complex which breaks up the Daytona circuit proper, not to mention the infamous tightening left hander at turn one. For success in this round drivers needed to be at their very best to maintain good pace whilst managing crash risks, tire requirements, track regulations, draft advantages and fuel.

At this junction in the championship, a number of observations where specifically flagged from the previous round at GVS and in the pre-race briefing for Daytona. Having watched the race replay from a multiple perspectives, the following rulings have been made:

1. Pit Exit Non-Compliance
The following drivers are found to be non-compliant in exiting the pits by not using the correct exit point as communicated in the pre-race drivers briefing.
- Redness63
- Lost on Drugs
As result of these infractions, drivers are to be penalised approx. 50% of their points earned for the round. We would like to add here that although drivers are penalised, this rule was only broken on one occasion for each driver.

2. Collision incident.
Lost on Drugs and Redness63 on Lap 6. Lost behind Redness on the Daytona circuit bank proper leading up to the braking zone for the left-short straight-right complex with closing proximity due to draft. A collision occurred where Lost's vehicle stuck Redness's vehicle from behind at a speed differential of approximately 60 km/h (213km/h/273km/h).

As a result of this impact both vehicles suffered catastrophic damage requiring an immediate return to the pit for repair. It is noted that this is a particularly difficult section of the track given high speeds and lack of obvious braking markers – however given the circumstances, Lost is issued a caution for driving without due care in this instance.

3. Tire Regulations
Adherence to tire requirements during no-tire change windows at the start and closing stages of each race is mandatory.

Oni_Chan is issued with a caution for failure to adhere to the no tire change window regulation at the end of the lap 49 due to low fuel pit stop. To be specific here, a driver cannot change to a 'grippy-er' compound tire once the pit lane has closed in the final stage of a race. For example if driver needs to pit for fuel or damage after pit lane has closed, they must not switch from a harder compound to the medium compound tire. In this case no penalty is applied to Oni given that the error was realised shortly after being released from the pit and current track position was ultimately maintained, negating any advantage.

A note to all: the purpose of race reviews is too ensure that we all continue to compete at the high standard that we are ALL capable of and to encourage an environment of good sportsmanship within the ORS series. :)

P.S. If anything has been missed or you wish to discuss anything concerning the race or regulations, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Jas
ORS Committee

Thanks for the heads up mate. Shame you wont be there as i was hoping to have another battle with you again like Season 8s battles.

Hey gearheads

It was too hot. lt was still 35ºc at 8:30 pm.
My car felt weird,it felt like i was on sports tires and the car did not want to stop, turn, or drive out of the corners properly.
l'd done a 15 lap practice session a couple of days earlier and got into the 2:18s and monday night i could only manage 2:20s.:banghead:

CHEERS redness-63 (;)

Well it was one of those nights for me, consistent pace for 28 laps then I hit the wall, got stuck at pit entry (should look at the replay, I really ballsed it up) then had a drive through with damage, spun and hit the wall heavily that lap, got more damage then pitted. Had to do something off game so i pulled over, resumed, spun and stopped in the middle of the circuit where I got hammered by an unavoidable crash with cac.

Next week please lol

Once again Arie. Well done on capturing the action from round 6. I must say i always look forward to your photos after each round. Cheers for taking the time and effort to take em.

TOP SHOTS MATE!!! the spider man shot is my fav, taits car looks mean

That shot was our human centipede moment when you cut the last chicane and backed off in front of all of us, forcing cac into me, I hit Oni who I think hit you.

yeahhh oni was obviously quicker than me int he first few laps, and i wanted to try and keep racing without getting in the way too much, there was a few times i purposely went wide in some corners to let oni slip up the inside but he never did, then i did cut that last chicane so i tried to keep out of the way of you 3 because it was so tight..

I was happy to sit on your rear and let you control the pace. Was going great until my incident with Cac and i lost all consistency after that as i felt like crap.

I vividly remember that "WTF?" moment when everybody just stopped for no apparent reason, and I ran up mrt's tailpipe.
It was quickly followed by a nervous glance at the damage indicator, and a releaved sigh when seeing no red marks on the screen. :)

Sadly I did get left rear damage, only downside was increased tyre wear and steering wheel angle lol.

When I finally pitted it took me a few laps to adjust back to a straight wheel lol

ORS | SEASON 9 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

For round 7 we head back to Japan for a 3x15 lap sprint race around Tokyo R246/Reverse.

ORS_S9_R7_zps26224cda.jpg

The standard ORS white line rules apply. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently or frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 9. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding the pit entry around Tokyo R246/Reverse make sure you do not enter at full speed as it may reset you and result in some time lost entering the pits. When exiting the pits be mindful of cars approaching. The car behind has right of way so please use common sense to avoid any collisions.

Everyone will need to be mindful of kerb hopping as this will not be tolerated. The most common kerb that tends to be hopped is the chicane (turn 13) before the final corner. 2 Wheels on the kerb are ok but 4 wheels will incur a penalty if you are found to consistently hop the kerb.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for all 3 sprint races Monday night.

Tier 1
Oni_chan - 70kgs

Tier 2
Asuka611 - 25kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Now finally all drivers must make sure they submit their tyre choice for qualifying/race start by 11:59pm tonight. Once your tyre choice has been submitted you cannot change it.

Regards,

Oni
ORS Committee
