The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for all 3 sprint races Monday night.

Tier 2
mrtaital - 35kgs
asuka611 - 25kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Sorry Oni,

I don't believe that I need to be running any ballast for Round 4 because I only got 2 x 3rds last week and actually came 3rd overall.

Apologies to my Muscle Maddness team as it was Jol who finished 2nd overall. :(

Can you please confirm mate?

Cheers,
Asuka

Overall points from round 3.

1st. mrt - 183
2nd. arie - 176
3rd. Jol - 175
4th. Oni - 159
5th. cac - 150
6th. JTV - 148
7th. red - 142
8th. lost - 136
9th. moon - 136
10th. Jase - 134
11th. Rod - 97
12th. Toivo - 79
13th. vel - 35
14th. rota - 31

All races points are combined (except fastest laps and pole) to find out the top 3 podiums.

Therefore going of this data Mrtaital was first and gets 35kgs ballast while Asuka611 finished 2nd and gets 25kgs ballast. As jol_1 finished 3rd no ballast is applied.

Cheers,
Oni.

I've just opened JASR73's Lounge for some practice, feel free to join me.

EDIT: relocating to Oni's Lounge with mics enabled.

Thanks for confirming Oni,

Sorry I was only going off the best 2 races. I'm happy to run the 25kg ballast if its based on all 3 sprint races. Looking forward to more good racing at GV speedway!

40 minutes left to get those tyres in boys. Otherwise you will be starting on racing hards.

sorry rod mate i dont know what happened but was totally my fualt car psyhics felt really wrong, once again sorry for ruining your race was not intentional

Sorrry to hear about your missus Moon, hope she recovers soon!

Thanks all for waiting for me to join...this was the first time I drove the car with a new set up.

My Race
Got off to a slow start, I think it was Jas who failed to start and was almost collect by myself and someone else! I managed to get two places on the opening lap, but I hit the outside wall on the last tunnel giving me small damage to the front left. I came out of the essess and the car was if it was on ice (more like my poor driving!) I couldnt get the power down and was holding up the two guys behind me. I moved over to the side to let them past. Now it was time to get used to the car.
Sent a few laps finding the line and limits of the car, after about lap 11 or 12 I totally messed up the exit of t1 and spun and hit the wall hard! While trying to limp back tot he pits sadly Lost managed to plow into the back of me when I was going slow and keeping to the right.
Pitted and jumped on the Mediums, start lapping about 3 seconds quicker, I was on my own for most for the run..got pretty bored...
changed tyres and come out of the pits in the middle of MrT and JTV's battle. Mr T was infront in T1, I was planning on letting Jon past into the hairpin but coming into T3 my screen froze! when it came back I was in the side of Jon sending him flying!!! No damage to my car, I waited for Jon and followed him out of the hairpin but saw his car was all over the place, I guessed he had big damage :(
Spent the rest of the race saving tyres, maybe too much! had a massive spin in T3 and 4 over the crest of the hill (not hitting anything!) on lap 39
Notice I was being caught but the car behind, lap 43 he was on me, it was Jas..battle for position in the closing laps (finally, my first position race of th enight lol) Had a great battle, final lap, all the others have crossed the lins so on a slow down in B spec so i knew we would be over taking them somewhere. Soming coming into the hairpin Mr T and Oni were in B-Spec, I went for the inside line but they turned in too. So I went to the outside..ended upi running deep! Looks like Jas noticed this too and left enough room for me to get back on my line for the exit of the corner. I went to the right of the track, tried to over take Oni and Mr T. Again b-Spec wasnt making it easy, I managed to get past but looked behind to see Jas being clipped by Oni as he followed me lol.
Jas and I battled into the tunnels, I felt I had this in the bag as we came into the essess. I knew I just had to keep it clean. Coming out of the essess, foot to the floor....no drive! WTF? checked my steeringwheel conection..nothing?!?! Jas hit me a few times as I was going well slow!?!? then I noticed....NO FUEL!!!! doh!
what an ending, sorry for that jas lol

gutted that I ran out of fuel...still, was nice to be back racing (even if it was on my own)

sorry rod mate i dont know what happened but was totally my fualt car psyhics felt really wrong, once again sorry for ruining your race was not intentional

no worries mate, s..t happens! Apologies accepted :)

Had a big damage on my front right....was driving with the steering wheel 45 deg to the right...lol

I was managing to keep up with the guys on hards so decided to keep on going and not stop to fix...but than, not so many laps later I had an encounter with Moon that damaged my rear right! Decided to continue again but tyres were suffering.

Pitted a few laps later and around lap 22 or something the internet went down....

Coudn't be bother to do something after that and just went straight to bed.

Wanted to make a quick note....Oni!!!! Dude!!!! How? Just tell me, how do you manage to do that? lol That was really quick mate, well done!

Cheers all

I think the majority of the race was spent with people driving on their own, i personally had to drive a good 15 laps without seeing someone due to Oni/Arie/JTV being so far in front on mediums yet there was a large gap back to the car behind me on hards.

Had numerous thoughts going through my head as to my race strategy, i originally planned for 25 laps on hards and 20 on mediums meaning i only stopped once (I think Toiv was going for this before DC) I got to lap 19 and i realised the tyres would not be safe to drive for another 6 laps, oni was steaming in at .5 to 1s a sector in to my lead. Coming out of the esses onto the main straight i got loose, gathered it then got a bit right foot happy and spun and hit the wall.

Chose to pit that lap due to damage anyway, chucked on some fresh mediums knowing i only need 26 laps from two sets of medium tyres, rapidly caught JTV and Arie on their hard tyres and was slowly chopping in to Oni's lead. Knowing Oni would pit around lap 30 which would leave him 15 laps on the medium compound i had to make up time quick. Oni pitted around lap 30-31 and i knew i had to get the best times i could out of my tyres. Ran wide at the two left handers just passed sector 1, through the sand i knew my time was limited, pitted a few laps later with 11 to go, i chose to play my wildcard and use the soft compound, after the pit stop i had a decent gap of somewhere between 10-20 seconds to close. I was pulling Oni in at around 3-5 seconds a lap but realise i ran very dry on the refueling (despite putting 5l over the recommended amount).

Caught Oni and just decided that from there on in was tyres and fuel conservation. Kept Oni behind me for the last 5-8 laps and coasted home on what would only have got me a lap at full speed.

The car on softs is a dream, using the soft compound at that track was one of the best options i thought of, and it was all due to the raw speed Oni had last night.

Looking forward to Daytona road where i think my run of 6 fastest laps on the trot will come to an end at a difficult track for heavy cars.

Interesting race. Complete lack of time in the car is definitely hurting my chances. I'm not one of you Aliens who can just turn up and go like the clackers. Perhaps this is a getting older thing...lol. The start was interesting, I think Toiv accidently had it in 2nd (my old trick) as I stormed off the line and nearly up his boot while Vel behind me, flung it hard left and took off.

Pretty careful for the next couple just missing Vel as he got lose out of the essess then gained on Lost when he had a moment a lap latter. In his slip up the main straight and I must have gone in too hot to turn one as all of a sudden Lost's car was slowed a lot faster than I anticipated and I couldn't avoid him....try to serve hard left...Shunt!!! Expletives directed at self! Apologies Lost for the rear ending, totally unintentional mate but my bad. I owe you a new car...

Cursing myself for being so ham fisted, the consequentual trip into the sand trap and slow grind round to the pits with engine / suspension damage seemed like partial justice for my incompetence.

Now well and truly behind on the lead lap, I struggled from there to find a rhythm for the next 30 laps. Another unforced error on lap seven and another unscheduled pitstop didn't help either but did hightlight how much work I have to do on my skills gap. The closing laps where more fun when I realised I was gaining very slowly on Vel and the last lap was a fun chase between us till he ran out of fuel. I was actually thinking of pushing you Vel at the end there as I thought you must have run out and in need of the RACV. :)

Anyways not the best round for me but good learnings to be had. Congrats again to Mr T and Oni, sympathies to Toiv and Rod for getting booted, sorry your injury meant you couldn't stick it out Lost and hope your better half is feeling better Moon.

My race started well enough, qualifying higher than expected. I made a small mistake letting Lost through then getting back past when he and Toiv came together at the end of the straight. I closed in on Arie and eventually took 2nd all the while Oni was inching further away.

Pitted after 15 and after much consideration chose to go to hard tyres for the next 15 laps. MrTaital caught up and passed me so quickly I thought he was already using his soft tyres:lol:

On lap 28 Velly exited the pits in between us and then....

8448425383_81977c7b2b_c.jpg

Major damage.

I limped back to the pits, put a set of medium tyres back on and just cruised to the finish in 5th place.

A promising race turned disaster in an instant through no fault of anyone. Don't ya just love GT5 sometimes

First off to answer Rod. I'm not sure how i got that time but i knew i could get into the 49s if pushed. I do a lot of testing around there and can get into a rhythm around there much faster than most other tracks. One thing i did notice is i was much faster out of the tunnel (coming onto the bridge) then everyone else that race.

Now onto my race. After qualifying strong and starting on pole i opted to take the entry into turn 1 side by side with Red to avoid any traffic jams. As i had a higher line it forced Red to stay low which affected his drive out and ensured i was in front of him by turn 2. After that i just kept looking forward and got into a rhythm to start making a gap. I knew Rod would try tag onto me as fast as he could but fortunately for me we had Red in between us. I know from experience that Red is a very hard person to over take. He holds his lines perfectly which would make it a tough job for anyone to get past him. Knowing that i used it to my advantage started increasing the gap sector by sector.

After a large enough gap was made i just sat in a comfortable zone to maintain the gap and tyre wear for my first 15 laps. Switched to hards on lap 16 and came out behind Toiv and Red who were now on very worn tyres. I managed to catch them within a lap, overtook Red and went for Toiv. Toiv ended up making a mistake out of T1 allowing me to drive off and Red to get in front of him to resume their little battle. I now had free air in front of me and pushed to catch MrT who was now leading the race.

Come lap 30 i changed to my mediums and put in 18L of fuel to last the rest of the race. I now had a comfortable 15-20seconds lead but started noticing someone catching at an unbelievable pace. Lap after lap they were taking 3seconds out of my time. Seeing the gap close so quickly i knew the opted to use their trump card. There was now 10 laps left but the gap was closing to 8 seconds then before i knew it i had MrT in my mirrors. Knowing i didn't have the pace to hold him off i attempted to slow him slightly for a few laps but he managed to have better drive in and out of corners. Knowing this i new 2nd place would be guaranteed as the gap back to 3rd was 30+ seconds so maintained pace and watched a blue Camaro slowly pull away lap after lap.

In the end i was very happy with my result and pace. I planned to use my trump card here but as i started so well and maintained a great gap i chose to save it for another round. Kudos to MrT on a great drive and good race.

Now onto the official side of business.

RACING INCIDENTS

I noticed there were a few silly and avoidable incidents that race. While i am not going to call out peoples names or penalise anyone this round. But i would like everyone to be a bit more focused during the race. The incidents i will make everyone aware of are.

Late Braking from too far back - While some drivers are better then others at pushing their braking to new limits i'd advise not to do this if the gap between you and the car in front is more then 2 car lengths apart. Just get closer the next time. A successful late brake is not when your almost inside their door a quarter of the way into the corner. You should be on their inside or slightly in front by the turn in point not after turn in has been initiated.

Failing to brake early when in a draft - This was what i would call the major reason most incidents happened during the race. Coming down a long straight and braking for turn 1 at Grand Valley can be difficult even without draft but more so with. So ensure you either brake earlier then the driver in front or pull out of the draft before the braking point to avoid any incidents.

We all have a very high level of skill when it comes to racing so the above shouldn't even be happening. I think as now the racing is a lot more closer due to the tiers that its forcing some drivers to become a little to aggressive towards other drivers that are not used to racing in a pack. A little restraint at times from all is required.

Now for a little tip to those new to pack racing. When racing in a pack its not always about who is in front and always trying to overtake. If the driver in front of you has good pace then sit behind them. Wait for them to make a mistake while conserving your tyres. If the start slowing the pace and you feel you like you can lead and increase the pace then go for that overtaking move and start increasing the pace. The more time you spend trying to overtake each other the more time you lose to those in front and behind you.

Cheers,

Oni

ORS | SEASON 9 | PRE RACE BRIEFING

For round 5 we head back to the USA to Daytona Road for a 50 lap race.

ORS_S9_R5_zpsdcc311e7.jpg

The standard ORS track edge line rules apply. If you are found to be cutting corners consistently or frequently then you will be penalised by the stewards. Penalties can range from point deductions, 1 race bans and up to disqualifications from the entire ORS season 9. Ensure you have read all the rules in the opening post (page 1).

Regarding the pit entry around Daytona Road make sure you do not enter at full speed as it will reset you and result in time lost entering the pits. I suggest entering the pits around 140-160kph. When exiting the pits do not cross the pit exit line and keep left. Be mindful of cars approaching. You can use the pit lane behind turn 1 to avoid causing any accidents. Remember the car behind has right of way so please use common sense to avoid any collisions.

If you find yourself off the track be mindful when rejoining, please aware of your position on the track relative to your fellow races. Drivers rejoining the track must give way to race traffic and not become an obstruction.

The following drivers need to ensure they are carrying the below ballast for all 3 sprint races Monday night.

Tier 1
Oni_chan - 25kgs

Tier 2
mrtaital - 70kgs

Failure to comply can results in 1 race bans to removal from the series.

Finally all drivers must make sure they submit their tyre choice for qualifying/race start by 11:59pm tonight. Once your tyre choice has been submitted you cannot change it.

Now enjoy the onboard action from the Top 3 fastest laps during Round 4.

Regards,

Oni

Hey, i'd like to use the hard compound. I'd also like to warn all drivers of the camber that's on the start line at Daytona Road, please be extra careful on the start to avoid slide across the track from it.

Great addition having the videos oni, not sure about the audio though lol, your car sounds like a hand held hair dryer lol

IMPORTANT NOTICE - ROUND 5 PIT EXIT

Please read the following and make sure you practice this before the race tonight.

Due to the pit exit at Daytona Road releasing the driver half way into turn 1 and into the path of anyone trying to brake for turn 1 (which could cause a major accident), All drivers must now manually drive around the pit exit on the inside of Turn 1.

Make sure that when you regain control from the B-Spec driver after exiting the pits that you keep left and follow the pit exit road around the inside of turn 1 and to pit exit. DO NOT CUT out of the pits into turn 1 where the B-Spec driver releases you. This will be the first big test for everyone on manually exiting the pits. If anyone cuts out of the pit lane into turn 1 you will be penalized. There is zero tolerance on this.

The first left out of pit lane is very tight (almost 9 degrees) so make sure you are driving slow enough to avoid hitting the wall and receiving damage. Also after this corner the road will bend into a slight chicane. Make sure you do not cut the white lines and drive on the grass while exiting the pits.

I will be announcing this again tonight before the race to remind everyone.

Cheers,
Oni

9 degrees is such a wide corner, and I noticed you hit the wall after your refueling stop :P

Irony is a bitch haha

I'll start this thing, knowing i had the 70kg around Daytona Road on racing hards I had no chance of placing in the top 10, so I forfeited my laps and just used it for 2 laps of testing as i'd done none besides a few laps on mediums. I also used qualifying to test the pit entry speed and pit exit lane as well as doing some practice starts on the cambered start line, ended up bombing my first attempt on the real grid :P

Race attempt one, as i said i completely bogged down in a mid rev second gear and went to last and just tucked in behind moon and jasr, i seen rod fly off down at the end first hairpin, couldn't see much further due to dust of cars on the grass, expecting to see a race restart called i backed off, the call didn't come so i got on the gas again, as i was approaching turn 1 on the second lap i decided to ask what happened to Rod to make sure it wasn't foul play and the restart call was made.

Restart two was a lot better start for me as i chose a mid rev range first gear start and charged forward and gained two spots, had a cracker of a battle with Jol, Jasr, and Moon for the first handful of laps, eventually pulled away to my planned pit stop of lap 20, pitted for mediums and 30 litres, pushed hard to close the gap to Arie and JTV, caught them and got passed. Middle part was quite uneventful until the last stop, put in 40 litres for the run home on 12 odd laps. Came out of pit lane behind Oni and Arie and knew i had to keep on their tale whilst getting warmth in to my tyres, noticed Oni was struggling so got passed him quickly to stop arie getting away.

Had a cracking battle for the last 10 laps with arie, swapping positions on the main straight every lap before timing my run perfectly on the last lap to take second position.

Thanks heaps to arie, jol, jase and moon for some amazing battles.

Yes it was a great battle to the end Tait! For those last 10 laps its was like a game of cat and mouse. I knew that the guy who came out of the bus stop chicane leading would lose at the finish line. The fact that you were able to keep up carrying all that ballast was remarkable effort. Well done there mate.

While we were battling hard with each other I don't recall any contact that really slowed us down as we timed our passes well. In fact I got my fastest lap on lap 41 which was probably due to a massive sling shot draft that I would have got from you.

So the fact that we could not reel in Toiv goes to show that he was really was flying out front. 👍

The championship table is looking interesting as we pass the mid point of the season. It is certainly getting crowded near the podium as there are a few drivers that within reach.

I'm very surprised to be where I am considering my struggles in Seasons 7/8but will be pushing hard to maintain the same pace and the consistency for the rest of the season (and hopefully in future seasons to come :sly:).

Yeah we had maybe 1 or 2 scratches for the 10 laps, the main one that could've ended in tears, we were approaching the finish line and I just got passed you and you tried to tuck in to get any boost you could and you managed to tag my right rear but it all ended nicely.
