Good win Cactass! The Gallardo was unstoppable on its home track. I would say you pretty much owned that race from start to finish. Really impressive stuff. 👍
Mr T, I do recall you literally jumping out of my way and thought it was a bit odd at the time. Sorry I didn’t mean to scare the crap out of you. I swear it really wasn’t an attempt to take your position. Need to remember two well known facts about the GTR: First of all it isn’t going all that fast by the end of each straight and it does have the a decent set of brakes out there. Maybe I must of caught some of draft without noticing it but I thought it was pretty much close to my normal brake point.
First race incident between Red and I occurred just under brakes at Variante della Roggia (the 2nd chicane). Right at the 1st brake marker Red was still about 20m behind me. Then in an instant his car then magically appeared right in front of me. While he warped back to his original position our cars collided and damaged us both. Who knows how Red saw my car doing in his view!? Strange thing is that I had not had recalled seeing even the slightest amount of lag during practise or the preceding opening laps.
On the restart I was a bit confused on where I was supposed to start but from Oni’s response my understanding was the position on the last completed lap which I took as before the incident. Hopefully this was correct. But it wasn’t my night, and it all went wrong for me on the first lap again.
Coming into Variante Ascari, I think I had forgotten that that we had restarted and the tyres were stone cold, I had my red misty eyes fixed on the SLS’s and Lambos who were literally rubbing mirrors down every single straight, when all of a sudden I was about to rear end Jol. I threw my car hard to the inside and hit the barrier. Thought I had managed to avoid the collision but couldn’t stop in time and continued across the track and still collected Jol. Really sorry about that if you sustained damage mate.
Had to pit and watch the field race away. Thought to myself this is going to be a boring race then saw that Red D’cd. So I kept pushing. Wasn’t making any ground on the leaders but noticed the back markers were getting closer on the map. Oni did his 1st pit stop and I could actually see another car.
Then I think Jol, and the GT’s also pitted and I grabbed a few more spots. While the GT’s quickly overtook me, my tyres were holding up surprisingly well. I decided that I would push the Mediums tyres to the limit and managed to make it to past the half-way point of the race which would allow me to forgo an additional pit stop.
Not sure if that plan would work now since the GT/PSN gremlins decided that I should be booted from the race. There go my chances of challenging for repeat ORS championship podium.
One minor positive thing from being D’cd was that I got the chance to watch an awesome battle between Oni and Lost. Great driving there boys!!!
Velly, You did good considering it was your first Monday night race back in a while. I think you will be solid next week at GV East as it is one of your favourite tracks. Let’s see what you can do with GTR’s transmission. No pressure mate.
Oni, Opt 2. Sunday Night 8-9pm gets my vote. Sorry guys anything before 8:30pm is difficult for me due to family commitments. Like the idea of a longer qualifying session. Perhaps we could just stick to scrutineering just before qualifying and race. I would believe that guys racing with the ORS would have the integrity not to try and use a brand new car each race in order to gain any minor advantages from this.
Order of preferences:
1) Sunday Night 8-9pm
2) Sunday Night 7-8pm
3) Monday Night 8pm
