Im all up for fairness haha but if im running same tyre compound regs as xerx and lost im just going to be last every race, im willing to give it a go, but yeah i think that will be the result... i think maybe the 3 different categories may have to be tested?

Again, I am going to side with the voice of reason on this one Oni...
I know this is a difficult system to implement for the series but despite that and Bonson's suggestion to scrap it I believe we should have a practice race where we test the 3 tier system, we should do it at Nurburgring GP/F because everyone is now familiar with the track so this eliminates any inconsistency due to testing or a lack thereof.
I think if I was to put forward a system it would look something like the following;

Fast Drivers: Run Mediums ONLY!
Xerx, Lost, Oni, Bonson, Toivonen, Rusty, Mike, Waynz, AussieStig117

Medium Drivers: Run Mediums, ONE SET of Softs available from Lap 5!
Willco, Rota, Evan, Taital

Slower Drivers: Start on Mediums, Softs infinitely available from Lap 5!
Mick, Spinner

As I am unaware of Pawel17's pace I cannot place him...
Also, ANY Wildcard drivers MUST run the "Fast Driver" restrictions to ensure no unfair team advantage is gained when a driver is replaced for a race!

Unfortunately, there will almost always be winners and losers with a handicap system (but it will be better than no handicap at all!) and I have tried to make this as fair as possible ignoring past performances due to racing incidents and focusing on each drivers "actual" ability (in my eyes). Sorry if you think I have over/under-estimated your ability...

yeah im up for testing it, but its going to be a pretty obvious result, of course i could be completely wrong.. but if im on the controller running exact same regs as the faster blokes there is no way i can get higher than like 6th or 7th which i dont mind but as this whole problem is about trying to even up the competition i think thats pretty weird.

A lot of people have been saying it would be hard to sort out 3 devisions, but that middle devision would not involve many drivers. even if you prolonged the time for the mid drivers to jump on softs to say lap 10 or 15 and the next group of drivers can do the pit at end of lap 5, i believe thats easy to police, as on the replay just check everyones rubber on lap 10 or 15 and see what we are running. That may level out the playing field much more than we think.

Also massive various on times with different compound on each track. if we keep going back to the first qual at fuji where we had a lot more time testing and with tyre wear off, i dont think it gives a true reflection of everyones ability. As xerx and other have said i really think we need to put more thought into deciding who is 'fast and who is 'slow'

Just some things to ponder either way I really enjoyed the first race, but obviously because i did not have to jump on hards at any time, So i understand the want for the hards to be thrown out all together, because as spin was saying we have a need to even up the competition but its still unfair on the fastest blokes be dropped back to mid back every race as they should be rewarded for their ability to drive AND supply great setups.

I think on my behalf that taital is quick enough for the mediums and one set of softs just like rota , i dont want my team dominating the points due to this

rota has come along way in his ability to drive and his times have been increasing alot which is great !

The changes where made from the system you suggested with anyone being sub 1:33 from the qualifier and that was the result. As i haven't been on i assumed this was tested and lost even agreed to it as did a few other drivers.

As this wasn't the case Then the next race will be running the above.

All new drivers to the series and wildcards will be put on racing mediums only. Same as the fast drivers. If they stay with the series we can then decide which handicap they need to keep on pace if any.

Im out snowboarding this weekend so wont be online. Run a test race if you guys have time with the above on Nurburgring GP/F as everyone has raced there already and we would get a very clear cut view of who uses which tyres.

I know I had made the suggestion to run only two categories earlier with the sub-33 split, but looking back at it I feel that Rota is correct that it would be unfair to the mid-fielders to have run that system... My bad!...

I will try and host a room every night this week and weekend (from 8-9pm onwards) so we can do a few practice races to test this system so if you are online and want to make sure this system works, dont wait until Monday night to complain because by then it will be too late and I will have made any recomendations to Oni about changes that may be required! 👍

With the issue of changes from now on, I am on Oni's side and will say that as far a I'm concerned, if your not online to test the system this week, you are either happy with your classification or dont care enough to bother testing it out so dont roll up on Monday and expect it to be changed on a whim for you!...

If you are not happy with your classification, and have commitments keeping you from testing however, let ME know as Oni is away and I will sort it out and communicate and further ammendment suggestions to Oni.

Cool that we're getting this system worked out . . .

It might take another race or two to know if it's right.

But importantly once it gets sorted and working right, we'll have a set of tyre regs that can be carried into future series.

Yeah I know mate, just last time I went was to lake Hume, near albury, sunrise session.. Took red wine with me to get warm, but still got sick (was -3).. GT5 is much more comfy.!!

The three tier system should work well. Hopefully the racing will be intense and clean. It's good to make the racing close, as long as it rewards the fast drivers and not disadvantage them.

I'm new to this online racing and get a buzz just racing, I would still race if we all had to use the same tyres. I don't expect to win, but it's good just racing against guys who drive fast and clean.

I may yet have a problem. Even though i played countless hours with some mates yesterday, i was not able to connect, to x3rx3s room....and yes! I did clear cache. I'll connect my ps3 to the modem itself next time, and not have it on wifi.

Just remember that its held in oni chans room.
and clear cache disable media server in xmb menu
if it fails it connect to the room i usualy turn of ps3 and modem and reset the modem itsself then reset the connection to the ps3 to the modem in the ps3 menu. usualy works good for me

Looks like it was a 3 race series. Don't know why they only ran it for 3 races. They did Japanese tracks only, it's okay to have a theme to a race series. But to let it limit how many tracks you use is odd.

This shows the pretty high level of racing and good clean driving we have in this series.

I also included the Parade lap as there was an incident and I felt it'd be cool to show the race start.

I just chose the interesting bits from the first 12-13 minutes. I don't want to be going through an entire 60+ minute race to grab highlights.

I was on the defensive pretty hard from our (Waynz & I) incident at the Dunlop Curve on lap 2, you managed to grab some good clips from that!
I had to laugh at Oni on the parade lap! Doing what he could to avoid contact and almost plowing himself into the wall!...

Yeah with you on that one too.

As I was finishing up that vid above, I really noticed the 'behind car' footage got used a lot. I had already decided that I'm going to mix up the in-car shots more in future vids.

I'd seen the in car shot and it's good as it is exactly the same as the in game screen. And also there's another view that's from on the rooftop looking over the bonnet. And a view out over the rear spoiler.

But when I was grabbing the footage, my motivation was showing the action ahead of the car, the 'behind car' shot did the best job, so I just did it without thinking of using a bit of variety. It's all a learning process.

Problem for me is that I've got take the PS3 into another room, change the video output, connect it up to a camcorder that allows me to export the footage into the computer I do the editing on. So it makes it hard to re-capture the footage after the fact. I just went with what I had.

Pity you had trouble getting into my room the other night! I will try and get on track with you sometime tonight or tomorrow and place you where I think you belong but that being said, what's your best time around R246 at the moment and on what tyres did you do it?
If I can't get on track with you prior to the race on Monday I will go off the word of others and your best time, although I would like to see you on track as I have tried to take consistency into account (not just speed) when I distributed drivers amongst the categories!

Can't describe in words how dissapointed i am. My isp provides me with 1.5mbps speed. I reset my modem before joing, cleared cache. Turned off all other devices. And their we go. I joined the room at lap 2, and saw stig battling with bonson, and decided to just spectate, and got disconnected.
I still want to be part of this series, i am going to call my ISP tomorrow and see if there is anything wrong with my connection.
