No point in me trying to race with damage on all possible places of my car...

Don't know who gave me that ... 'love tap' from behind into the first corner, but that was... yeah not great.

lame. đź‘Ž

hey oni, me and xerx were talking last night in his room about the next sprint race at deep forest, and we got no idea what we ganna do with tyre choice amoungst the 3 devisions.

Do you have anything in mind for this? or we gotta do some testing this week and find out what we need to do?

Good race last night, but i dont think i will be jumping on tokyo for a long time hahaha, i think the 3 different handicaps worked well, i know all the middle drivers (willco, me, taital) were all close together at the end and had good battles through out the race.

it was you that got me the heavy damage on my right hand rear waynz when u went wide turn 1 and then tryed to rejoin on a full pack of cars.
car was just so unbalanced heading into the fast s after sector 1 it just spun on me and i was taking it very easy.

managed to do 20 laps on 1 set of mediums with full front steering damage made the Tyres wear so much quicker but then went from 57 seconds down to 20 seconds down by the time i pitted on lap 21. was aiming for a one stop strategy
then couldn't keep it together as i couldn't be bothered since i had to pit on lap 1..

ALSO GOOD WIN LAST NIGHT MIKE

I'm sort of happy with last night's race. :sly:

Not that I placed all that good. But more that I kept out of trouble. I had one incident on lap 3or4 my own fault caused me damage on both front wheels. I could keep an okay pace going, but the loaded front tyre in any corner would light up red and screech. So I made a choice to run with it until lap 6 (end of) so I could change to racing softs at the same time. This left me way behind the field in last place.

So then after getting fresh tyres I just drove smooth consistent laps from there on. I didn't take risks, and as such was light on the tyres and only needed one more stop for fresh rubber and fuel. I didn't have a single incident or damage after that which meant I got by a few of the guys as they were in the pits getting repairs for damage. Then they also choose to abandon the race and park up.

BTW good parking spot spinner, it was several laps before I even saw that you were there.

Also I liked how that barrier got positioned out in the left hander leading onto the back 'straight'. Even better was how someone was able to give it a tap and get it to stand upright again. đź‘Ť That made the corner a thrill each time.

Yeah and good win Mike, a true win from the back of the grid.

Crashing on your first out lap whilst on softs when u have 1 set blows, should be able to say no tyres please haha

Should be a rule about that about if u crash before 2 laps should be able to get fresh set of softs and it wont be an advantage as ull have to make a new pit stop and waste even more time...

Good race last night guys, clean from where i was sitting.. i was a bit spewin i put it in the wall (all by myself) when i was racing Rota, and was forced to pit on lap 5.
Still had a good battle with Rota, even though we were on opposite sides of the the track, he was just always there every time i exited the pits, and vice versa.
Im happy with my fifth place, as i was last and 1:03.xxx behind the leader at the start of lap 6! Was up to 2nd by mid way through the race.
Taital had good pace, as did Rota - I even saw Taital leading the race at one stage (dunno what happened to you mate to end up in 6th).
Handicap rules worked well in my opinion, as Taital, Rota and I were able to get in the mix with the faster guys. Good race, good win Mike.

I was thrown off wide by Xerx overshoot, got blindsided when I was trying to face the corner...

Well you can point the finger at me but my car was badly damaged after that... and I had 6 pit stops in 22 laps... I consider that a 'penalty' in itself... I parked it when you where about to lap me on lap 24 when I was forced to make a 7th.

Thank god no more street tracks to come :scared:

I wasn't pointing the finger waynz i didn't notice the part on the replay were xerxsees overshot and made u run wide, i just stated that what i saw was u merge back onto me as i stuck to the left , u had a front left damage while i had a rear damage
and also i just stated that with that rear damage it was so unstable in the high speed S section on the cold tyres it killed me.

I have something to confess....

I had more fun in the fiat 500 race... :D

That was really something last night... Unusual but fun! :D

I didn't overshoot... That's why! ;)
I braked later than Waynz and whilst it was a late move I could have comfortably made the apex if Bonson wasn't on my left... :nervous:
I think the problem was that we were going into turn 1 3-wide... Not that I or anyone else overshot the corner. đź‘Ť

On another note, good race all! I made an error which unfortunately cost Bonson and I a lot of time, ultimately leading to Bonson's early retirement... So Bonson, I am truely sorry, I will leave it at that as I have already PM'd you with more than a simple sorry... :guilty:
Aside from that, I had good pace all race just was unlucky with 'traffic'... As my early stop put me on fresh tyres while others were on old tyres and vice versa.
Also, congratulations to Mike! đź‘Ť I held you out for as long as I could and I thought I may have had you on the run to the line... 0.011 seconds... Not quite... :sly: Well done mate!

Cheers, Xerx :)

Yeah mate I woulda almost got a certain podium if not 4th if I didn't have to pit I think 4 or 5 times, it was my fault i was pushing hard on my softs from the outset and clipped the wall around the long left hander trying to get the advantage on oni, but still had good pace for mediums only so I'm happy, looking forward to non street circuits haha

I just watched the replay , that was an epic last lap Mike and Xerx. 0.011 seconds after 40 laps. Hats off to Mike , I watched you for the last 10 laps , beautiful smooth and consistent drive mate. đź‘Ť

Xerx , I'm still baffled as to how you can drive at that pace with so much damage.

Waynz , I know you had as crap a race as I did but watching our incident on lap 17 , I couldn't help but wonder why you didn't back off a touch and wait a couple of seconds longer to pass me. It was clear that I was driving much slower than you , you caught me so quickly. I had worn tyres and damage on both front corners. you had pretty fresh tyres and no damage. I had planned to stay as far from the apex of the next left as I could so you could get a clean pass , but that meant I had to slow down to avoid hitting the next wall. I gave you as much room as I could , in the end we both paid the price.

I don't know what else I could have done in that situation. Also check your tyre category.

No worries pal, I haven't been on yet so I'll read that but I hold no grudges, these things happen and if having a bad race on a computer game is all I have to worry about I'm laughing :)

Was really more of a "can't be bothered" than a rage quit, had damage from the back and from the front as well as engine damage and the car was literally undrivable, would have been in last place with still 2 stops to make so I went to bed early :)

yeah waynz mate, we are on the same team and you did same tyre regs as me... :S

and well put spin, unfortunate what happened.

I didn't know about your intentions of moving over as that's not what I automatically think of when I'm racing someone for position. You could have done it after the double left? It's one way though there at racing speeds and all I saw was your brake lights on after the corner and on the racing line :scared:

Also check your tyre category.
It kept auto selecting the Soft tire option, nearly did that twice. :ouch:

Anyone else while I'm here?

If I'd done that you would have had to avoid me on the racing line and lined up for the apex as I turned into the corner. I would have been still blocking you and the closing speed would have been similar. You would have been on me before the 2nd left , I guarantee it.

I realise it was a split second decision for both of us , I chose the one that I thought would give you a clean run through there but I guess you went in there committed and couldn't change plans half way through.

We could do it as a regular thing, maybe after the race, do Fiat 500 around the track to wind down. đź’ˇ

That sounds good! đź‘Ť
Party in my lounge every Monday night after the race... :sly:

Anyone else while I'm here?

Yep! My turn... Again!... ;) Don't use the auto select... Wait and see what I brings up before bashing the OK button!... That should fix the issue... Remember, there are penalties if the rules are not adhered to! :sly:
I learnt this the hard way as in the S15 series when I put on a second set of RH tyres when I should have been switching to RS tyres! :dunce:
In future, if this happens... :scared: You MUST pit the following lap to correct your mistake, DO NOT continue running them! Otherwise you (and anyone else who does it) will receive a penalty... -20 Championship Points!...
Congratulations Waynz, you are now the first person in Oni's championships (I know of) to have been given an official warning... (if my warning can be counted as official...)

Also, I am happy to say that the connection issues were not there this week! :D
Mike must have been nervous on those last handful of laps following me after what happened with my lag spike at Nurburgring... ;)
I tried running the PS3 on a wired connection this week rather than wireless and that seems to have made all the difference, although I did have to go and buy a 30m LAN cable to do it as I need over 20m to run from my router to the PS3 once you go around the walls to avoid having the cable across the middle of the floor! I think however, it will now be a permanent feature as I hated the prospect of retiring from the championship due to nothing but connection issues! If a wired connection is all I need I am happy to have the inconvenience of an extra wire running through the house... đź‘Ť
Finally, sorry I have not as yet posted this weeks race highlight photos, I have not had a chance to get through the race yet and will not likely have them completed and posted until Thursday... :(

Cheers, Xerx :)

EDIT:
I am also looking for feedback after the first race as to how everyone felt my draft tyre handicapping system worked...
For those who want to copy/paste for suggestions here it is again...

Medium Drivers: Run Mediums, ONE SET of Softs available from Lap 5!

Moving on...

I'll be running some practise rooms later this afternoon and most of tomorrow, as I'll be away most of the weekend.

(if my warning can be counted as official...)

Yes it is.

Ok now moving onto business. The Sprint Race format!

Round 3 will consist of 2 x 18 lap races with a 5-10 minute break in between.

Track: Deep Forest Raceway
Laps: 2 x 18 Laps
Tyres: Everyone races on their handicap tyre from start to finish
(Faster drivers race mediums only, rest of the field run softs)
Grid: Reverse Grid
Damage: Heavy
Penalties: Weak

Now on to the track itself. Everyone knows the infamous corner (turn 4 i believe) with the concrete on it. If you use this concrete it is considered a cut. YOU CANNOT USE that piece as the track. 2 wheels on the black stuff at all times unless you run wide into a wall :dunce:

Accidents will happen with close racing around this corner. If you happen to cut the corner by accident you must yield 1 position on the track. If your out alone with no battles and you cut. Well its a simple DQ and loss of points. We are all good drivers so there is no reason to cut it or even 'accidentally' cut it.

hahaha lost. im really angry you didnt put up i nice pic of my EXA CANOPY!!!

your in the naughty corner mate.

Hahaha maybe if the mini didnt pour off so much smoke in the first picture you would be able to see your EXA CANOPY hahaha

OK so.. was talking with Mick and Xerx, and came up with an idea...

There is now a 'Mini game' to our series from now on.

Aim of the game: To catch Oni online and playing GT5, seeing him actually on the track is not needed, all you need is to have a pic from your phone or camera of him online in GT5 on the XMB menu with the time and date in the top right corner.

The pic must be posted on GTP to earn the point.

AN EXTRA POINT will be awarded for your sighting of the mysterious quest master on the track actually operating a car or any sort and also uploaded to GTP.

The winner with the most points at the end of the lexus series will recieve a White Knight Chronicles DMC DeLorean S2 '04 painted in the official White Knight colour scheme, a White Knight helmet and a White Knight racing suit.

Good luck to all Quest master hunters!
