ORS ROUND 8 QUALIFYING UPDATE

Hi all, a quick update on behalf of the CEO.

As you all know, our next round touches down at Nürburgring 24hr Circuit (Weather).

To confirm, qualifying for this round will take place at the Nürburgring GP/F Circuit.

Qualifying procedures will follow our established Q1 and Q2 shootout format as per our previous rounds.

Round 9 Track Competition

Just a quick reminder that track submissions for the Round 9 Comp are closing today. So far we have had three entries. You have until 11.59pm AEST to get your entries in so if you're keen, fire up the bulldozer and get building. :)

Cheers,
Jas

For the Nurb race , are we doing live weather like Spa ?

Exactly right Spin. Conditions for this round will be based on real life weather reports. In addition all tyre compounds will need to be used as per usual, unless declared a wet race. Actual 'in game' race time will run a full 24hr early morning start to early morning finish format. :)

Current long range forecasts suggest we'll have mostly dry conditions in the days ahead although anything is possible at The Ring' come race day.

For a live view:

Camera is placed at the 'pay booths' for public access to the track, which is that group of buildings on the right as you go up the hill on the long straight heading back towards the start line / pit complex.

Thanks for the clarification re: quali at N'ring.

There's probably a few other things to bring up too. ie tire rules (laps before you can change compounds) but that can be posted anytime between now and Mon night.

you can still see the mark where the Club GTI sign used to be

Club GTI is a VW club I used to be in (and rang my own local section).
These guys also brought you the

and the

Nice one Vel, would be awesome if those markings where 'in game' on the circuit.

Thanks Mic, just a further update here on this. There will be no minimum / maximum pit window in place for round eight at the Nürburgring 24hr circuit given the length of one lap and the potential for accelerated tyre wear.

So for example if you start the race on the racing hard compound, you are permitted to pit at the end of lap one. Or if you want to come in on lap 8 and do a tyre change for the final lap of the race you are permitted to do so.

What isn't changing for this round is the allocation of tyres for the respective tiers or the requirement that using one set of tyres during qualifying counts as one set used of your total allocation of tyres for race day.

Oni will likely bring this all together in one cohesive post before race day but this is the information I have to hand. :)

Yes, been there twice...once in 2006 and again in 2008.

First time we stayed at Hotel an der Norsdchleife AKA Eddies (he is the guy who owns it)
A room with a view.

it is well worth the trip if you are in the area, it is a motorheads dream.
It is the only thing I miss since moving here.
I will dig out the photos from 2008 :)

It is worth every penny. Hoping to get back there next year

Anyone wishing to find the graphitti done by the above ^ vandal, can find the locations marked on this map. :sly:

The winner of round 6 of the ORS Citroen GT Racecar photocomp is:

Spinner!!

The graph:

So well done Spin, another win. As you can see he won quite convincingly, dramatic angles always popular.

And Spinner gets to choose a theme for Monday's round: Nurburgring 24hr

Plus a quick refresh, the current round: Rome Rev theme is "Bird's eye View"

Cheers.

Yay.

I spend a limited amount of time looking for a high vantage point at Rome , failing that , this bird lives in a tree and rarely flies much higher. :)

used to have a newportedition.com logo on the track to by the hotel but go resurfaced :(

Bathurst this year...got my pot of paint ready 👍

Holy Epic race batman!!!

Lots of fun...really bad frame rate! and online bug striking a few times (total loss of grip!...hence my spin on lap 1)

Had a few great battles, it is really hard to over take on the old track, even harder to make it past someone who has spun lol

here is a poor video of some moments of the opening lap...including me going the wrong way on the first start lol

RACE 9 ANNOUNCEMENT

Unfortunately Jase and myself couldn't get enough testing completed on the custom tracks to have it ready for Race 9. Therefore we have moved the custom track to Race 10 and Race 9 will now be held at the Circuit de La Sarthe. So make sure you get some practice in. Hopefully Jase and myself will come up with the race 10 track this week to give everyone ample time to test for race 10 the season finale.

RACE 9 is now at Circuit de Le Sarthe.

Cheers,
The ORS Committee.

Bull****!

The first opportunity for Oni and I get in a room to test the track submissions was last night unfortunately, so a decision is still pending. It was thought better to give some certainty TODAY as to what next weeks round was in order to give the field a fair window of time for practice. :)

COMMUNITY VOTE | SEASON 8

It’s that time in the series where we start looking at what we will be racing for next season. As the ORS value the input of everyone in the series we are opening season 8 to a vote. We came up with a number of different ideas but only 3 made it past the cutting board. Everyone that is interested in joining Season 8 make yourself known and places your vote on one of the following options.

Option 1: “Battle of the Tiers” | Variable BHP/KG/PP
This is will be a 8 round series were each tier will be split into groups of 5-6 drivers, given a different car and compete for championship points/podiums with only those in the same tier. Tier 1/2/3 will all be racing together at the same time. Each car will be built to be on pace with each tier to keep the racing tight and exciting. The cars used will be the Corvette Z06, Ferrari Italia and Mazda RX8. There will be a different qualifying/race start procedure for the tiers and the series will use Racing Medium & Hard compounds only.

Option 2: Tuscan Speed 6 RM Series | 550BHP | 888KG | 620PP
8 round series that mirrors the Season 7 Citroen GT RC. However we will be using a race modified Tuscan Speed 6 tuned to 550bhp at 888kgs and 620pp. Ballast will be used to keep the field tight and the series will use Racing Mediums & Racing Hard compounds only.

Option 3: Mazda RX-8 Series | 475BHP | 1085KG | 550PP
As with the above this mirrors Season 7. However we will be using a tuned Mazda RX-8 power limited to 475bhp at 1085kgs and 550pp. Ballast will be used to keep the field tight and the series will use Racing Mediums & Racing Hard compounds only.

Simply vote in this thread by saying Opt1, Opt2 or Op3. Drivers who intend to be wildcards may also submit votes.

Cheers,
ORS Committee

I'm in, how else would I spend my Monday nights

I really like the sound of option 1

I think the mix of cars would make for some great racing

Evan

I think Option 1 would be good for a change of routine , sorta like multi class racing but separate races within a race . Also T1 guys wouldn't get hit with an increase in ballast as the season progressed.

Would that mean that we would need more than a 5 lap session to determine tiers though ? Maybe take the drivers history into account as well as their performance at season qualification. (Assuming we go with option 1)
