It's out. So who's getting it right away and who will wait a bit to see if there are any incompatibilities, etc.? I for one will be waiting a few weeks. :) Looking forward to trying the new Safari though, finally it has a unified address/search bar like everyone else. And I really want to switch from Chrome, since Safari is a lot faster on my system (though granted, I can't verify if that's still the case with the new one).

I still haven't updated from 10.6, I've used my sister's iMac with 10.7 but I can't really see the benefit. Also she asked me to install some software for her and none of it worked, so I have doubts about most of the stuff I want to run.

Unless Safari has changed lately I'd be surprised if it really is faster than Chrome, I used to use Safari on my MacBook and it was beachballing left, right and centre. Switched to Chrome and I no longer want to sell nor destroy my laptop! Then again that's because Safari was maxing out the admittedly limited 1GB RAM all on it's own (which is shocking). I switched to Chrome on my Pro as well and it's much faster there too, even without the RAM (6GB) being maxed. Still, my machines are old (2008 and 2009) so maybe something about the new ones (RAM speed, maybe?) makes Safari run faster.

TL, DR: To answer your question, I'm not upgrading for the foreseeable future. I survived without 10.7, after all!

I may install it, seeing as I get it free, but one thing I don't like is the 'gatekeeper' thing limiting what I can install, although all the more reason to dual-boot...

Gatekeeper has been found to not be too intrusive which is good and its only going to save you from the rare case of malicious software.

And if its free, why not? Messages is good (I have the beta), notification centre looks great and of the 198 other new features I'm sure it'll outweigh a different security system 👍

I currently rock Leopard so I'm a 3 versions behind. :(

I will currently wait to upgrade my hardware before getting a new OS. I really want a mini with enough grunt to play steam games with a Pad.

If I was still on Snow Leopard then yes but I upgraded to Lion and I don't see the need for Mountain Lion.

Although from what I've read, people who have upgraded are having problems with their Wi-Fi.

Anyone else having issues with font sizes in Safari 6? GTP and Google are massive yet most other sites I visit are the same as they were in Safari 5, I have to zoom out once to make them a normal size. It's extremely irritating.

Nay. Considering I'm still using Leopard, that's like Windows 7 coming out and I'm still using 2000...

I've not found this to be an issue at all. I do like the pinch to see all tabs feature in Safari 5 and the slightly fresher look 👍

Well, I finally figured out why it looks so weird for me. Apple have done away with the font settings in Safari and reverted everything back to Times New Roman. I used to have it set smaller with a different font and now it's not easy to change that. Also the tab bars are massive, it works on a vertical screen but not here.

Upgraded to Mountain Lion. No issues whatsoever. I see they borrowed a lot of stuff from iOS like autocomplete, works quite nicely. 👍

Oh no, I hope you can turn that off! My phone is ridiculous when it comes to autocorrect, half the time you type 'no' it changes it to 'on'... The list is endless, but that's just one it was giving me grief with earlier.

It's actually a lot less invasive than the autocorrect on the iPhone, works quite well. 👍

They had auto correct on Lion so did you come from Snow Leopard?

I'm very much liking the notification centre and integrated twitter option there, other than that the changes haven't made much of a change other than being a little smoother etc.

Oh right thats odd. Yeah in Safari its always been there by default (unless I checked a box I didn't realise) and its very handy for saving on grammatical errors  It came up in a little box below the word like on iOS and when it made a correction a blue line appeared under the word. Maybe they made it more prominent in ML though.

Might be that I never noticed it before on my MBP. I did notice there are subtle differences between previously upgraded versions of OSX and new, clean installations.

One big problem with ML is that it removes the personal web server option from the settings menu. The server is still there, but I haven't been able to get it working using the command line instructions I've found. For many people this isn't an issue, but most apps that let you stream content to a Roku, Boxee, or PS3 use this feature. Hopefully they'll figure out some other way to do it, because I'm bummed that I can't stream to my Roku anymore.

Basically, the web server is just an Apache2 instance right? Never tried streaming myself, but shouldn't be too hard to setup (e.g. modifying /etc/apache2/httpd.conf and/or add a config file at /private/etc/apache2/other/).

Yeah, because Apple want you to use their box.

Just use Google chrome or Firefox.

Have you tried MediaLink? I've used it for maybe 3 or 4 years to stream to my PS3, not only does it provide all my iTunes stuff but it also transcodes almost any format (like .mkv) and you can access and copy just about anything. It's designed for PS3s but between that and the Xbox 360 version (can't remember what it's called) I'm sure there's one that supports the protocol you need. Nullriver software was the company that made it, I think.

Found something that I don't like, all pages documents seem to save automatically to iCloud. I'll have to have a look around and see if you can change the default save location. If not I'll be disconnecting my iCloud account.
