P.a.r.c. (C.R.A.P.) champions crowned

Here's some needless analysis of colours being use for the series. Still waiting for a couple of selections

Beige 1
Blue Dark 1
Green Dark 1
Pink 1
Purple 1
Silver 1
Silver/Red 1
White 1
Yellow Green?? 1
Blue Light 2
Orange 2
Black 3
Blue 3
Green 3
Red 3
Yellow 4

In the official doc you're registered as Burnt Sand. However there is no doubt you've got old man beige. It's the colour of the Austin Princess or Allegro. The benefit is the camouflage effect.

It was the first color I found with 4 or more paints that no one had chosen :) I wanted to use Montesserreygrun perleffect but half the field can't be green :)
I don't think the cars look so bad

Hi people, can someone please add me to the 'confirmed' list for division B?
Sorry it's taken a while to get on and confirm.

Actually Joe you said yes to Division A in the other post.

Unfortunately we had a few DC's in the second race. Mark had to drop out due to a 'domestic' :). King Rocket got DC'd on about lap 35 (I think he was 5th or 6th at the time?). I was running a comfortable 2nd 8 secs behind lyonsy, and about 8 ahead of Ben, with ANFD on new tyres pushing him hard) when I got bloody DC'd with 3 laps to go. Argghhhhhhhhh.

Never mind. Both races were great fun. looking forward to Div B later

Oh, in my self pity bemoaning my DC, I forgot to congratulate Ben and Lyonsy for there respective wins. Well done both of you

The first race on the ring was a killer, could barely keep my car on the track. Not sure Why it says my car was red on the first set of results?,
Definitely better on clubman :),
Think i should show up tonight

Yes Lyon - my colour is screwed up too. It's a bug.

Great races guys in both Divisions yesterday. One of us will get results up tomorrow.

Please confirm availability for next week.

I have the replay of Div A race 1 and will do a report with picks today or tomorrow. If others could focus on the other races it will avoid duplication of effort

Confirming my availability for Div B for races 3+4

I'll be starting race 4 at the front like I did last weekend, lol. I'll try not to hold you all up too much.

Anyway, from my perspective, the Div B race last weekend was FUN! Its the first time I raced online with a full grid. Until then I'd only ever raced on the 'Ring with 4 other cars at the same time, so there is always plenty of space on track. With 15 other cars, its an experience! I took from the first race one amazing overtake where I outbraked dee### into a corner, and out-accellerated to pull away, only to go into the kitty litter a few corners later. Still I enjoyed and came a credible last about 2.40s behind the winner!

The second race saw me start at the front and it was scary! Seeing 14 other sets of headlights come at you relentlessly is very unsettling. I hope I didnt cause any problems for others as I could never keep my racing line clean. As some points I remember slowing doesn just a little to allow others to overtake and saw cars going by left and right! In the end, I dropped to 3rd last and maintained that for about 10 laps. I then pitted for tyre change and dropped to last and kept a steady pace throughout without any interference from other drivers, until I got lapped, lol. I also managed to claw back one position and cant remember who it was. Then on the penultimate lap, I get around the last corner to the pit straight and see JohnScoonsBeard's headlights facing me! He'd had an altercation with Cobani who was hugging the armco on the corner. I managed to brake and swerve but I think I clipped a corner of John's car. Then my last lap was full of swerving to avoid the cars that had lapped me and already finished.

All in, that was very enjoyable!

A couple of people asked about the adjusting of tyre and or power limiting drivers based on race performance the previous week. This idea has been discussed in the CRAP forums but regarding another series - I think when we were talking about a next CRAP On A Budget Series.

Edit: actually I have now spotted the wording in the forst post - new glasses?. It has a line through it now.

We won't be applying those restrictions for this series due to lack of available testing time.

Well done on finishing both races within the 3 minute limit Atik - that's very good when you consider Allendk29 was racing! I lived with him for a couple of laps again before Mic and I lost touch forever.

Racing was generally of a good and fair standard good in week 1. However there were some incidents that some people need to learn from to keep things fair for all drivers.

Please can EVERYONE read and make sure they adhere to the guide below. If you consistently fail to take this on board then you will be asked to leave the series/group. Thanks and enjoy week 2 (4WD) this weekend.

OVERTAKING / CORNERING

1 - The behind driver must take all necessary care and responsibility not to run into an ahead driver.

2 - If there is contact between drivers that causes the guilty driver to overtake the innocent driver, the guilty driver should immediately allow the innocent driver to pass. This rule should be observed, even if it means the guilty driver has to allow drivers not involved in the incident to pass while waiting for the driver they contacted.

3 - Pushing or leaning on other cars in turns or pushing them off the track is prohibited.

4 - When cars approach the apex of a corner alongside (see point 5) each other, the car which "holds" the inner side of a turn has entrance-advantage.

5 - There must be substantial overlap with the car ahead before they reach the corner’s TURN-IN point to have the right to drive up their inside, or to expect them to leave inside room for you. At least the front of your car should be up to the front doors of the ahead car. The ahead driver has the right to be fully committed to the racing line of their choice without any interference IF there was no substantial overlap BEFORE they turned in.

6 - If an ahead driver has clearly made an error to warrant a passing move, a behind driver may attack their position, with due caution and care, regardless of whether there was any pre-existing overlap. However, the overtaking driver must still avoid contact. Small errors by the ahead driver may not justify a passing move. The ahead driver getting a bit out of shape at times doesn’t give you an automatic right to pass. You still have to judge if their error allows for a safe pass to take place.

7 - If you are using a controller (or a wheel), set buttons up for side views so you can tell where other drivers are quickly.

DRAFTING/SLIPSTREAMING

It is unsporting to weave about left & right all over the track trying to stop your opponent from drafting you. Leading cars can change their racing line once while driving down a straight. As they approach the next corner, they can return to the racing line of their choice. This should not be done at the last minute so that other drivers have time to react.

Thanks to VBR and the general GTPlanet guide for some of this information.

LAG

There were some lag issues here or there. This is very troublesome for other drivers as to them you appear to jump about all over the track and they can be hit by that "ghost" - even if to you it appears you are driving perfectly safely. All we can do is try to ensure we have the best connection available to us. Clear out cache and rebooting your router a little before going online can help. Having an ethernet lead connecting your PS3 to the broadband / fibre optic router is thouroughly recommended.

Thanks for the rules clarification Mark, and well done (TMB teamate) Atik for a galant display. 6 months ago I was an online noob and celebrating anything above a last place finish. Practise is all it takes to start moving up the grid

Looking forward to the 4WD rounds this weekend :)

Lap 1

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_2_zps877b4aea.jpg

flygia navigates turn 1 off the grid, ANFD gets good traction off the line and passes JohnSchoonsBeard.
Ben has squeezed past Gadget and is now fighting with lyonsy94 for 5th

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_4_zpsd9746775.jpg

Ben’s (fair) move on Gadget puts him offline, and ANFD passes him 200metres later

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_5_zps23a61393.jpg

Meanwhile lyonsy passes Dark Angel for 4th and then pass King Rocket for 3rd one turn later. All action in this first part of the lap.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_6_zps386f00a7.jpg

King Rocket gets shuffled down the pack further as ANFD, and a recovering Gadget pass him

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_7_zpsc92e5364.jpg

And on the fast run up Kottenborn matters go from bad to worse as JohnSchoonsBeard passes King Rocket also. Not a great series of corners for the debutant.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_8_zpsb8e1d4f0.jpg

Lyonsy gets up the inside of Kolin to move to 2nd. Ben follows through moment later.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_9_zpscb09f259.jpg

ANFD outbrakes himself at Arenburg allowing Gadget to reclaim 6th spot.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_10_zps30ea6bef.jpg

Dark Angel passes Kolin for 4th

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_11_zps6697a922.jpg

A trip across the grass for lyonsy allows Ben up to 2nd, and Kolin back to 3rd

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_12_zps6f821acc.jpg

Gadget makes contact with lysony as he recovers back to the track forcing him off again. Gadget slows and allows lysony to retake 5th.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_13_zpsfb306fdb.jpg

The leader is off! Flygja throws away a comfortable cushion to cede the lead to Ben for a few seconds before going off himself allowing Dark Angel to lead.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_14_zps88b86d20.jpg

With Ben still recovering from his off, a bump from behind at the next corner from Kolin pushes him wide allowing Kolin past too. Maybe a case for a gentlemanly wave through on that one? Regardless, Ben retakes 2nd a few corners later. Flygja’s off has cost him dear as he is now running plumb last.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_15_zpsa318d5d5.jpg

Gadget pushing (almost literally!) lyonsy along the straight of Kesselchen as he lines up a pass into Mutkurve for 4th

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_16_zps6eb9b208.jpg

Dark Angel ‘comes out of the saddle’ at the Carousel to allow Ben to slip under him and take the lead.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_17_zps556d6de6.jpg

The battle for 5th-8th is intense as lyonsy holds off ANFD, danbojte and JohnSchoonsBeard. Gadget has broken clear and is off in pursuit of Kolin
ANFD runs wide allowing dan to pass for 6th……..

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_18_zps8eb986a4.jpg

…but the incident distracts JohnSchoonsBeard and causing him to spin out moments later allowing King Rocket and flygja past, but JohnSchoonsBeard retakes 9th at the next corner.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_19_zpsfdc34669.jpg

Further ahead, Gadget has caught Kolin and squeezes past at Pflatzgarten and is off in pursuit of 2nd place Dark Angel.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_20_zpsb1a325fd.jpg

As the cars hit the Dottinger Straight for the first time Ben leads Dark Angel with Gadget 3rd.

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_21_zps1c4a6203.jpg

Dan drafts past lyonsy to move to 4th

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_22_zps925762e0.jpg

ANFD trys a draft pass on Kolin but runs out of Dottinger before it’s complete.

Lap 2

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_23_zps6d3e1134.jpg

At Breidscheid King Rocket runs wide and hits the Armco allowing flygja up into 8th

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_24_zpsf0fcb78e.jpg

By the time the 2nd/3rd battle reaches Steilstrecke, Gadget has closed up the 6 second gap to Dark Angel, who now has his mirror full of yellow

NuumlrburgringNordschleife_25_zps8dc2943d.jpg

A few corners later at Wipperman, Dark makes the mistake and Gadget slips up into 2nd.
