You seem to be trying to imply that you're far wiser than PD and that they'e just idiots trying to keep up with your superior intellect/understanding of the gaming world.

This thread could represent the start of something amazing!

All these experts have figured out that the PD people are a bunch of lazy, incompetent idiots and will get together to build the perfect alternative to the entire Gran Turismo series. And they'll do it far faster!

Oh! PDI realized their premium cars are future proof finally?

All of the December cars, with exception of Chris' Nova are GT5/6 premium cars converted over. These updates seem to indicate that many of these '500' cars will not be entirely new cars but just converted over GT5/6 premiums.

Or in layman terms, PDI are doing the work they should've been doing prior to launch, but didn't because they thought their iRacing clone would sell good without said work.
Still this story? cars have been rebuilt from 0 and is evident in all comparisons between GT6 and GTS.

Do not forget that the data taken to do premium for GT5 / 6 does not throw them for sure, but some of them will be used to rebuild the same cars for GTS.

It still doesn’t matter. With this game’s pathetic number of tracks, and pathetic number of cars, it’s still going to be shallow.

Unless they add several more tracks, and about 1000 more cars, and the customization and used car lot etc from the previous games, or in other words make this a REAL Gran Turismo game, it just not going to be enjoyable for a lot of people.

If they've been rebuilt from "0" then how can the data taken from 5/6 premiums be used?

The 5/6 premiums are being used as a base starting point, and then improved. How else could polyphony, a studio notable for their "6 months per car" statement, release these cars in short rapid succession? Because they cut development time by reusing old assets and improving them.

You can get your jollies off by thinking they're completely scratch built meshes, if it so fits you. But it doesn't change the reality.

For reuse materials I will i speak about:

-Photos
-Audio
-CAD

These are materials that you no longer have to capture, the only thing they will probably have to do is use the laser scan to reproduce more detail fidelity in previous games.

However I have posted you unmistakable images, there is nothing else to say.

At least these models are 4K/HDR ready. Ready enough for the PS5 in a couple of years, I hope.

Good thing we have the PS4 Pro to help devs prepare for the 4K future, then.

to be honest, as i am not PD and dont see any money, i could not care less about profits.
all i care is whether or not i have fun playing the game i purchase :)
Unfortunately all GTS users need to keep in mind PD's profitability, because if they go 'pop' as a company, and their servers to too, GTS loses all online functionality, that's online races, and more importantly, atm at least, the ability to save any progress.

Now I'm not saying that is in any way a possibility, but if you tie a game in so much to being connected, anything that interrupts that connection affects everyone. And the most extreme interruption is a company going bust.

Except that Sony owns PD and the servers so unless they go under that will not be a problem and if they do we have more problems to worry about than online saves. :)

1000 cars? I'd say that's a complete waste of good resources, considering how slow it is to develop premium cars.

I'm sure some artists would do a good job in either group, but then it's because they have the required skills.

Indeed, and all I'm saying is most of them should be able to, atleast in the direction cars -> tracks.

Of course it has. If you learn how to model a landscape in 3D, you should be able to use that knowledge to model a car. After all, it's the same thing...

Ok, then. The other way around, yes I'm quite sure I could.

Can't wait. I've been trying to get into Forza 7 but its just not doing it for me. So the more content for GT Sport the better. Happy Day!!! :)

Sure. Maybe if the proper track team teaches them how to do it, in which case you're not only slowing their progress down, but also you're not getting that many cars either.

Why was this not in the launch version, seriously?

While I very much appreciate this game, there’s a bunch of stuff that confuses the hell out of me about it. Like, why there’s no tuning shop, no wheel shop and no paint shop. Instead they have some kind of weird as crap lottery which decides what you can buy. To complicate things even more they introduced mileage points, and no, you can’t save if you’re offline. Also, why can’t I sell the cars I win?

It might be the by far best sounding and most enjoyable to play, but at the same time nothing in the game makes sense.

Fix it, please.

No point allowing you to sell cars - play it for a week or two and you'll have all the cars you want anyway and nothing left to spend your millions on!

The wheels and paints thing is just to keep you guessing and needing to collect miles by actually driving. I think the reason they didn't include more offline content at the start was to push people into at least having a go at Sport mode and making you need mileage - in case something good pops up the next week - adds to that.

It feels a bit like (judging by my experiences in the manufacturer championships at least) that the people less interested in going through the whole practice-quali-race process are starting to sit out some of these now anyway because of the frustration that comes with it; I generally only do the Gp.3 races because I usually get crashed off track more in the Gp.4s. If PD are seeing that pattern (along with the various complaints and backlash) that would have boosted their need to add this new mode. Otherwise the people who are not playing Sport mode, won't be playing GT Sport at all.

Is that even arguable anymore.

I'm going to assume we're still talking about the quick appearance of car DLC and a current (apparent) lack of track DLC, plus the low location count in the game as-is. Although I would argue it's not that low given how many totally new locations there are, course-maker-style or no, whether you like or use them or not.

PD assigned a number of people to each task: cars and tracks. For GT6 there were already more landscape artists than car modelers. They made this decision consciously in light of their plans for the game.

So why the allegedly meagre output? My guess is the scapes. They're done now, so they can focus on bringing more tracks. Of course, each track takes more man-hours than the cars, to the point that even with more people working on them, they take longer in real time to finish up. Cars are finished all the time, and they make it in when they make it in - we've seen this before.

To ask that these teams be rebalanced means firing people, pure and simple. PD are still hiring at the moment - they've been perpetually hiring 3D artists of various kinds for years now. I expect that if PD senses they need more man power in a given area, they will simply encourage more specialism in that area from graduates and / or hire more existing specialists of that type than the other.

Sure, you could put a car modeler to work on a track, but that's a waste of everyone's time when a track modeler could do it better, faster and enjoy it more. No doubt there will be the odd willing volunteer who would enjoy a change of pace.

Short story: now the scapes are done with, I expect more track locations will be forthcoming, once they reach completion. I'm personally hoping Ronda isn't dead.

There's generally around 100+ lobbies for me at any time and all my sport mode races have been fully populated

Nonsense. I've been online the last 3 days and there have only been 30-40 lobbies on average and in Sport Mode the exact same names (about 5-10) resurface over and over again.

Anyway, it's too late to save this sinking ship.
