Patch 3.0 Still Buggy :-(

I am 4 races from finishing the whole career. I *WILL NOT* delete my saved data. I will shelve the game permanently before I do that.

BTW that is over 700 podium finishes for me out of about 1600 races entered and I am about 5 trophies from my Platinum.

Yeah I'm definitely not suggesting you do that. I'm actually saying that it's a slap in the face of the gamers if this is what's required to make the patches work properly. It kind of renders career mode redundant.

I thought I would wander to the official forum for a look at this issue.

Here is what I found

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?37281-PS4-Crash-to-Home-Screen-After-Patch-3-0

So a lot of people are having crashes and Ian Bell is worried about it.

Rebuilding PS4 data base does nothing (I can confirm that as I have done it)

One person had an interesting theory. The error code is for a corrupt data base. Patch three renamed tyres. So any previously saved car with a different tyre name is now technically corrupted data. Possibly a reason. (I like this one)

So anyone doing a fresh install would obviously solve the above problem.

People that haven't saved cars with different tyre types should be OK e.g Auto by weather

Further to this I was reading that SMS instructed all their WMD testers to wipe all their saved data weekly before installing new updates. So the theory holds true to that SMS have not been testing their updates against real world scenarios where people (like me) have a huge amount of saved data and altered tunes for vehicles.

So SMS expects an update to go on top of a clean install basically and because we (the users) aren't doing this we are getting these crashes and corrupted data errors.

Food for thought.

PS Also it is a lot easier for everyone to blame the hardware ;-)

I have the digital version and have had a few crashes ,mostly memory leaks as described in some of these posts

I have downloaded patch 3.0 but have not played it since i tried playing Le mans with a full feild of 56 cars ,the game slowed down by 10 seconds as compared to a 30 car feild

Amazing.

Quite frankly I do not believe it when people say they are not having any problems, especially after 3.0.
I've still had no crash-to-XMB problems, though I have only had the game a week now. Disc version, updated to 3.0 last Saturday I think, controller only.

I usually do 100% length sessions, but I've got a bit bored with the events lately and have started running 50% length. I'm only on my second season at the moment, 55 "races" (I think 33 actual races), 11 Accolades (1, 3, 7) and zero online whatsoever.

PS4
UK digital version - release date

I had only 2 crashes to XMB. First one was in May and I don't remember the situation. Second crash was post 3.0 patch, and I was viewing different cars and liveries in Select Car option for invitational in career. This may be the memory leak theory as I was going back and forth quickly.

I run 100% length with practice and qualifying. I don't view many replays to the end. (... Because I'm exhausted from the intense racing. :D)

If you have been reading thats how TT92 has done his 54 seasons and i think that why he has had so many problems , it doesn't justify the problems but it might explain them
Not many have had as many crashs as him

I play career mode at 80% AI and 1% length ,never had a system crash ,the only time its crashed is when ive gone continuosly between free play mode and time trial mode

Nope, I only borrowed PS4, as my mate want to see my new plasma in action with a PS4 :P That post about the rebuild database was from the same thread @TT92 posted. I don't know why are you so fired up about others sharing their experiences with playing a game. Do you think anyone who said they had a crash are lying ? You are very lucky to have no crash until now, be grateful as others are not so lucky. Crash here means being kicked back to XMB home screen.

If you want me to shut up, fine by me, I see you didn't like me posting anything about Pcars.

I played on disk copy too :) I didn't set on career when playing last time, but tried many different cars and track, on different game modes, my mate's driving most of the time as he was seeing if the plasma is any good. The crash happened in about 2 hours after changing about 10 cars, more than 10 tracks, going back and forth to garage, tuning and do some odd photomodes.

Looks like @FLX1981 got it too :(
From same thread at Pcars official forum :

"
Today it happened to me too. Couldnt reproduce, completed the race with no problem after restarting the game:

Game mode: Career, US GT3
Session: Quali
Car: McLaren 12C GT3
Track: Road America
Weather: Light cloud, 33% race length, time of day unknown - during the day
Discription: Was on lap 3 of qualifying, ran wide at the kink, when I tried to hustle the car back onto the track, the game froze for a few seconds, then crashed to PS4 menu. Report sent to Sony. Right before it happened, I had my first ever loss of FFB (FFB dead when starting the session, needed to leave and re-enter the session). Played about 2 hours at that point, with one or two breaks for a few minutes with the game idling in the career main menu."

"Just had my second crash to home screen.

Game mode: Career, Euro GT3
Session: Quali
Car: McLaren 12C GT3
Track: Barcelona
Weather: Clear, 33% race length, time of day unknown - during the day
Discription: Was on lap 2 of qualifying, overcooked the entry to Turn 1, car veered off the track, game froze for a second, then 2 seconds black screen, wheel going constantly left/right at a 90° angle until I grabbed it, then it was frozen rock solid at about 90° to the right. Report sent to Sony. Game was idling in the career main menu for about 30 minutes before this session.

Another by Rocafella1978:

"
had several disconnects today and crashes to blue screen of death while trying to setup MP lobby. had disconnects during practice (2 guys at once) + (1 blue screen of death) and quali (5 guys at once) and in race had (2x player elevating floating cars at lap 49 of the race, with both cars tires still good to run at about 20-25%)
approx. all happened around 910-940pm EST.
- 9 players (all human)
- Sonoma Raceway Short (in game race start 1pm) - set to 50laps
- Practice 10mins, Quali 10mins, Warm Up 5mins
- time progression 10x
- weather clear"

Thank you for that Famine. I know I can trust your statement here.

This also goes to prove that the latter part of this game, where I am playing, is relatively untested because of the fact all the testers started the updates with a clean slate i.e. no saved data and a fresh game. As I said above the way SMS tested was get the testers to weekly delete all saved data and start testing new updates with a clean slate. So all testing was done at a maximum length as to what people could do in a week which would be a season or two. I am currently at season 45.

So we can deduce from our collective experiences here that the further you get through the game and the more saved data you accumulate the more likely you are to experience crashes and the invisible walls. Conversely, those that play sparingly, at longer length races, have very little tuning done and are still in the first few seasons are going to be relatively OK.

So to all those people expecting to finish the career mode - you can't. There are 5 races that I am locked out of and I have a game that crashes more often than an all day Demolition Derby ;-)

I'm done with pCARS for now.

It's awesome when it works. But these moments are getting further apart.

The amount of crashes I'm getting are making me wonder if it's worth it.

Maybe I'll be back if they manage to fix it, eventualy. But I doubt it. It seems the issues go very deep into the code.

Plus, a game that enforces you to wipe your progress in order to work properly? I mean, seriously?

Let's just hope Asseto Corsa guys are paying attention to this joke.

Try playing the game like most ,80% AI and 100% lenght maybe it wont crash

To bad its not like the old days and punsh in a cheat code and finish the game in one sitting

FYI there is no end to the carear it is what you make of it

The only issue I have is if I select a ghost, then decide to garage/tune, the game will freeze when I go back to the the time trial screen.

There's no real need for a ghost in the garage anyway, so I stopped doing it.

The only way for the career to be endless is if SMS keep adding to it. At the moment I am 5 races short so I can see the end. Also it must have an end so the platinum trophy is achievable.

That pretty well sums up how I feel too. Stubbornness and the platinum trophy is all that is getting me to stay interested at the moment. BUT my patience is quickly waning!

I am also recommending to anyone that asks me not to bother with this bug fest of a game.

If wowbagger retires, he will finish his career before you.

I said earlier about 6 hours in total now, the mods have deleted your posts before and my reply. GTplanet has Pcars forum and we have threads for bugs/glitches, discussion for physics, patch notes, DLC etc. Quite a few WMD members posts here and I don't see how we are limited to only official forums and suggestions can only be from game owners.
Even if I don't own the game, I have play time which the experience I make use of by sharing what I encountered ( crash issues ) and also made contributions to SMS which have been implemented in patch 3.0 because I care and someday I may buy the sequel when it improves. For now, I'll stick to play on someone else copy ;) in every other week visit to see the progress of fixes.

Since you have said go to it, please let's end this off topic posts, I haven't done anything wrong.

A thread such as this, with freedom of speach, would never happen on pCARS forum.

And people wonder why I don't want to post there. A big hi to FLX1981 if he's watching ;-)

Also it is refreshing to even see the moderators here getting quite animated about this game too.

The problem with official sites is that too many Fanboys walk around with rose tinted glasses on and anyone that dares to speak their mind (or the truth?) gets banned, blocked or ridiculed (or all 3). Blaming the console doesn't help either.

You haven't!!! I've had my run in with this guy as well. You don't owe him an explanation. Its great we have a place to come and vent are frustrations about a game that we were hoping was going to be one of the greatest sims to date. I believe it still could be if they could get the bugs under control. Avoid the grumpy old man!!!

Reason i didn't bother registering there. Honestly. Better to highlight issues here and hope "someone well known there" will report them.

Oh it's a trick question? ;)

Actually Citroen and lemon aren't that far apart, latin work for lemon is citrum.
It's even closer than you think. Citroen's founder was Andre-Gustav Citroen, a Parisian born after his parents - a Dutch-Jewish diamond merchant and a Polish-Jew - moved from Warsaw to Paris. The diamond merchant was Levie Citroen. His grandfather had been a greengrocer in the Netherlands and took the surname "Limoenman" (Dutch for "Lime Man"), but the son (Levie's father, Andre-Gustav's grandfather) preferred lemons and took the surname "Citroen" (Dutch for "Lemon").

So the cars are literally named "Lemon". I don't know where the superfluous diaeresis came from though.

I await patiently for your test results!!! ;) 👍 Before you can find the bug, You must be one with the bug!!!!
Bug-Zapper.gif
If that doesnt work, I recommend one of these!!!!!
Hallo Simfan David ,
What can I say just done two practice session of 30min and had no issues but is this enough ...... I don't think so .
Tomorrow I do a online race for two hours lets see what this will bring .
What I can tell you is that my wheel (T300 RS ) before I did the whole mambo jambo when I was on track and went to the garage , it centred automatic back to his normally position now it doesn't do that any more .
But hey ...if there are no land mine , invisibly walls , loosing control of the car and not going back to the main screen off PS4 while doing a online or offline race I can life with that .
lets see what the future will bring .
I will keep posting within a couple of day's/week .

OK off topic? I own the game! You don't. Really? 6 hours played and I've put in over 150. OK I get your point. All good bro.
