Word from another forum, they did a race at Donnington, full circuit in Ginetta juniors, apparently "landmines" were common in the hairpin,

You haven't!!! I've had my run in with this guy as well. You don't owe him an explanation. Its great we have a place to come and vent are frustrations about a game that we were hoping was going to be one of the greatest sims to date. I believe it still could be if they could get the bugs under control. Avoid the grumpy old man!!!
Well look at it this way,how can someone complain about something they don't own? Grumpy old guy? Well I can go on about crappy games that haven't even come close to being what they promised. But hey there is a whole forum for that.

I suspect that game rentals have existed since the mid-1990s.

In other news, a small toy has arrived - but I'm in the middle of redecorating the new "office"...

Let's stop this silliness. Ridox played an official copy of pCARS on official PS4 platform with factual results. I don't understand where the flaw is with him sharing those results. If the criteria to post on this forum is to own the game, then I, and many others, need to request the mods to delete all posts prior to May 7.

OK one up for you,you got me there.! But you have to own the system if you rent the game:cheers:

I'm almost positive you don't have to own a PS4 to play a PS4. I mean, I know I don't get out of the house much, but I know other people have things called "friends" (whatever they are) and they occasionally lend things between one another or visit. Sounds a bit crazy, I know.

To be honest I don't see the relevance of how someone manages to play 6hr of the game when compared to the fact that they have.

I think he just don't like me posting on GTP :(

I actually a member at PCars official forums, but I mostly used it for PM with Jussi from WMD discussing car setup and data :)

You've picked a good time to pick this baby up Famine as I think Patch 3.0 included functionally for the shifter lights. Also, can we expect a wheel review from yours truly? Plus i'm interested in what made you choose the G29 over the other wheels as i'm still somewhat undecided on my choice still.

And people wonder why I don't want to post there. A big hi to FLX1981 if he's watching ;-)

Also it is refreshing to even see the moderators here getting quite animated about this game too.

The problem with official sites is that too many Fanboys walk around with rose tinted glasses on and anyone that dares to speak their mind (or the truth?) gets banned, blocked or ridiculed (or all 3). Blaming the console doesn't help either.

From what I've seen the people who have got banned are those who aren't prepared to listen to how SMS quite reasonably want people to behave. Most times that I've read what has been posted before getting banned I've seen a lack of respect and a constant desire to provoke. If people can't behave with respect then they get what they deserve regardless of if their identification of bugs is correct. In my opinion it's not the pointing out of errors or bugs in the game that gets them banned, it's the aggressive nature of how those people have communicated. If they can't understand that now then I suspect they never will.

Someone like me who plays the game on 100% race length in career and also spent 50% of my playing time online has experienced a few inconvenient bugs but nothing more than that. I've adapted my game style to avoid the bugs I've heard about until they're fixed. It's not worse than I've seen in other games like like Game Stock Car Extreme on PC and Gran Turismo 5/6 at launch that have had some issues but GSCE is also (like Project Cars) one of the very best. The scope of Project Cars is much greater than that game though with the complexity of the career. To have driven what you have is an enourmous amount of testing of the career and the PS4 under pressure from Project Cars.

I have only played 120 hours. I understand someone who plays for 450 hours and only plays races on the shortest length will find bugs quicker. The thing is if I play the game at full race length I'm unlikely to ever get to 45 seasons. I'll also not see those bugs every 10 minutes due to running a short race.

What happens when you run your game/career using something like 50% or even full race length? See how that impacts your experience in terms of bugs. I understand the pain you've had by playing it in the fashion you have. Don't give up playing it, keep reporting the problems you experience on the official forums and it will make the game better for everyone.

That is a very well written and considered reply. Thanks.

I do understand your position and take on board your point of view so please see mine.

I am an avid gamer and racer. Sometimes I wonder in which order ;-) I play all games the same way and PCARS is no different. I Do a quick play through on the easiest settings to get a feel for the game and to find out where the hard stuff is. I then go through and play on the hardest setting necessary to get my trophies and complete the game. Usually this is the enjoyable part, beating the game.

I have been constantly criticised for playing on the short/easy settings which does annoy me considering for 2 weeks I had me left arm in a plaster cast and I was racing one handed but that is a side issue. I had a lot of spare time and so I attacked the game. My choice.

I almost get the impression from some people (not you) that I am in some way cheating by using the legitimate settings the game offers and I should not be as far into the game as I am. Surely this is a good thing because I am finding a lot of stuff that others may never see but instead I am usually assailed and criticised for it, especially, if I report I am having serious issues.

In the early days I did two 24hr Le Mans races (on short which = 2 hours) the first one crashed at 1hr 4 mins and then the second one did it 1hr 2 mins. It was then that I was convinced that using the shortest settings was the right choice. That is over two hours of my life wasted, for no reason.

The official forum I do not wish to join for the reasons stated and this is my forum of choice where I can speak plainly and critically and not have to tip toe around egos like Ian Bell's. Besides, I am sure that SMS staff have a read here and they can do what they will with my (and others) comments.

I have a love/hate relationship with PCARS. When it works, it works very well indeed and I get a lot of enjoyment from it BUT when it is playing up or trying its hardest to ruin my day I despise this fiasco passionately. After the release of Update 3.0 I now have a annoyed/hate relationship and we are about to part company. I have already spread the word amongst my circle of friends to not waste their time and effort on this game.

My last point is, if I was not meant to play on the shortest easiest settings then why are they available? And why does SMS not deserve to be criticised for them not working? Surely that's like saying to a Ferrari owner your handbrake doesn't need to work properly because you're meant to be doing 200mph all the time! And then criticise the owner because it crashed while parked on a hill!!!!!! It's an available function that was paid for so it should work.

There are no excuses to any of the bugs. It's just if you can look past them and enjoy the game or not. I'm fine with people complaining and also fine not recommending the game. It's your choice to shelve the game, some people have worse luck then others, I suppose. I just don't see the need for any drama, but that's me personally. If I didn't like the game and thought there were too many bugs, I'd just move on to the next one. Luckily there are plenty of games to choose from these days. I personally look forward to MGS5, Tomb Raider, Hitman and many others and of course there is Dota 2 if I have too much free time on my hands, plus AC if I just want to drive around. Don't waste your time complaining and revving yourself up, just for your own sake.

If I could I would move on to another race game .
But ... for the moment there are not to much if any race game like Project cars for PS4 , so I have no alternative until ..... 2016 .

Do you think whatever racing games are coming next year will be released in any better condition than Project CARS?

Good point Spooky Wooky lets hope it and in the mean time Project Cars can improve there game .
2016 will determine which will be on the right track .

In the next 2 years, which ever game developer, SMS, Polyphony, codemasters, or the Assetto Corsa makers, makes the least broken game upon release will dominate console sales on PS4/ Xbox1,

I have extreme patience for SMS, the game was created on under 1 quarter of the budget that GT6 was, and the result has been extremely impressive, games like this bring development competition and the future of PS4 racing Sims will only benefit us during the life of the console,

Than Project CARS in a year from now? Hard to tell. I think SMS is capable enough to fix all the issues, but it's a small studio with (at this point) at least four games under development. One thing I do know is that there is relatively little effort going into PC2 at the moment. We do get daily builds (during the work week), but there's not a whole lot of changes in them (yet). This leads me to conclude two things: They're still spending most effort on Project CARS and PC2 is still a long way off.

Another thing to consider is that it took Kunos a long time to get AC to the state it is in now, so I'm curious how stable the game will be at release on consoles and if they'll run into issues (they probably will, but how many and what kind is to be seen).

So it's hard to make an even remotely educated guess.

I have a feeling the boys at Kunos have their heart in the right place, but might have bitten off more than they can chew bringing AC to consoles. There's probably a lot more work there than they realize and their team is pretty small even compared to SMS, let along GT or Forza. I suspect that anyone who is disappointed with the scope of Project Cars won't be interested at all in AC as I expect it to be a smaller and less ambitious effort overall. It'll still be a great driving/racing experience and worth the purchase price, but I have a feeling it'll be a "small" game.

So done the initialbla bla bla on my PS4 reinstall the game and hope I could do a normal race  what do you think guy's ?

Yes my best friend BUG is back :indiff:

I noticed recently doing a trackday race with the Audi R8 that if you hit a wall in Zolder your car will magically have a full tank of gas.

To be fair though, I do not let little bugs like that ruin a game for me. I know from the bit of programming I did in a past life that once you resolve one bug, ten more pop out of nowhere... :banghead:

Do you think that after pCARS' fiasco anybody in their right minds would release such a mess?

I'm hoping for AC geting things done properly.
This is getting is off topic, but I had a chance to try AC last week (on PC) and I did not like it at all. I did not encounter any bugs, but hey, PCars is almost bug free for me too....
