If only he was in a Nissan GTR..
The mid-mounted engine, together with a 24-gallon (90-liter) fuel tank mounted behind the passenger cell, concentrates the car’s mass near its center, which contributes to better handling.
A flat, smooth cover underneath the Carrera GT directs the airstream into a diffuser at the rear, creating strong negative pressure under the car. The downforce increases with vehicle speed to provide stability and safety, literally pulling the car to the road
The dimensions and proportions of the Carrera GT also play a major role in its on-road stability and performance. A 106.3-inch (2,700-mm) wheelbase – much longer than that of most two-seat roadsters – contributes to directional stability.
Porsche applied pure racecar technology to produce the body shell of the Carrera GT, making the body/chassis unit from carbon fiber with steel structural elements to ensure occupant safety. A spaceframe made from high-strength aluminum provides protection for the passenger compartment.
The front and rear double wishbone suspension follow racing car practice. As in Formula 1 racecars, the drivetrain and rear suspension in the Carrera GT form one unit. The spring struts of the rear suspension pivot on the gearbox through pushrods. Each wheel uses a coaxially arranged coil spring with an integrated gas pressure shock absorber.
The 19-inch front wheels mount 265/30 R 19 tires, and the 20-inch rear wheels are equipped with 335/30 R 20 tires.
The Carrera GT includes dual front air bags and the Porsche Side Impact Protection (POSIP) side airbag systems.
RIP Paul and RogerThe fact Roger Rodas was driving shows that no one is a good enough driver to speed safely on the road. It's a tra tragic reminder to keep the racing on the track, where there's runoff, marshals, and tire barriers. R.I.P. both of them.
What about when Han burned to death in his RX7Just an observation, but it's a little ironic that there's a scene where everyone is watching Dragon: The Bruce Lee story in F&F1 and Walker leaves us far too soon like Bruce. Am I comparing the two? NO again, just a sad connection.
Jerome
Cars are obviously designed to hold together, but above a certain speed cars can't be expected to hold their shape under heavy impact.
Very sad news, RIP Paul.
They crashed next to a sign with the posted speed limit of 15mph. The car is completely mangled, so they were definitely speeding.
What a tragic and sad outcome to a genuinely noble cause
R.I.P Paul and Roger
When looking at the tweets of everyone about Paul Walker. There is a very graphic and disturbing image of his face after the accident. Just a fair warning for anyone. I feel sick.
