pCARS Patch Notes - 1.4

I'll just continue to twiddle my thumbs while I wait for the ps4 patch lol.

Nah to be serious I'm not actually bothered. I got my ps4 only a couple of months ago and there are so many good games on it I'm spoilt for choice of kick ass titles to play through while I wait for project cars to get some good updates. I don't care much about the small bugs, I mostly just want more stable performance, as I really hate it how the game crashes so often.

I currently have 8 other games to play through, and not enough time for them all. So plenty to keep me away from an unstable project cars while I patiently wait for it to become the game it could be.

Edit: Actually make that 9 other games. Forgot I downloaded Resident Evil Remake. Still haven't gotten around to finishing that one.

My problem with the AI is their awareness and not losing any grip in the rain. Once they get these things fix the game will be more enjoyable. I'm still having fun on this game though, its just that along with online and of course the bugs that's holding the game back from being really great.... To me that is.

I havnt tried rain racing in the rain with the A.I ill need to give it a shot.

You probably won't enjoy it. It's like they don't lose no grip at all like it's sunny and the track is dry for them still while you is the only one racing in the rain sliding around all over the place. That's how it feels like.

I haven't had that experience and have enjoyed rain racing.

PC's are cool and all especially when you have to upgrade your GPU that's worth as much my console every year, wait that's not cool.

Just playin'

Actually you do not have to upgrade the GPU all that often and you don't have to buy the ones that cost as much as the consoles. The GPU I just bought cost less than 1/2 what a console would cost and still provides better graphics and frame rates than the consoles do.

In general it depends on what kind of system you build as to when you may need to upgrade it but consoles usually do not last any longer and are not nearly as versatile. For us GT fans we get what 2 games per console? On top of that you may need to buy a new wheel to get support on the new consoles plus fewer games with less features.

As it stood a year ago, the jump to a new console was around $1000 + annual PSN fee, including a new wheel. If you add in a shifter and 3 pedals like I have right now, it was over $1400. You can buy a bang-up pc for far less than that, and keep your current wheel (G27 for me) and have money in the bank for that future GPU upgrade if needed.

Ok guys, so I've noticed this yesterday after buying the new DLC. Somehow my wheel (TX) had some crazy clipping and felt REALLY heavy out of the blue. I thought, maybe it's only the new DLC cars. Installed the patch today and the problem was still there. You could feel it even when doing wheel calibration (wheel was almost impossible to turn). That was on default settings for the wheel. So I decided to delete my profile. This solved the problem. FFB is now actually better than before in terms of communicating loss of grip under braking, maybe other aspects too, but this one stood out for me. So if you are having problems like I do (heavy wheel, FFB clipping), then you need to try to delete your profile (back it up before, just in case).

Well, patch notes mention tweaks to AI tyre degradation (in general) and AI tyre grip loss in the rain. No mention of tweak to AI awareness in 1.4, but I've read posts (from devs and Ian Bell) on SMS forum that they are making improvements to AI. I have the same gripe about AI awareness. I don't mind the aggression/overtaking, but AI can be clueless about my position on track. Hopefully improvement to AI awareness is in 1.5.

Yeah the AI is pretty unaware at times. I got knocked off track in one of the early LMP1 races right as I got the green. AI car just swerved over and took me right off the track.

My biggest gripe has been the way they swerve suddenly and either hit you or cut you off and then if you hit the rear of the AI car you can't steer until contact is broken. It wasn't until the LMP2 races that I really noticed the AI speed in the rain in one race I was caught out on the track in the rain on slicks. Had about a 5 second lead at the start of the lap and then the rain started and by the time I was half round the track my car was very hard to handle. The AI quickly closed the gap and started overtaking. I managed to hold on for an 8th place finish but clearly the AI was not having any issues in the rain on slicks.

From what I read the AI will still be fast in the rain but should have issues when in rain on slicks at least.

Yes mate, i was having a fantastic online race at Spa on the PS4, when suddenly the game froze, the screen went black, and then the console restarted! Very frustrating!! Hope the game is much more stable when 1.4 comes......

Could be worse mate. One of the crashes I had happened when the game was accessing the hdd, so it corrupted my save, in which I was most of the way through my third season of career (Formula Rookie). Forcing me to restart everything from scratch.

Edit: Looking good for the first ps4 patch. Keep up the good work SMS.

I find worrying that there isn't any mention to invisible things on tracks, which annoys me deeply.

On a side note, so, a day after the G29 announcement, surprise, here it is the 1.4 patch. So, the delay was Sony QA or SMS-Logitech NDA agreement, after all?

I'm happy for Logitech because this problaby will get me off the hook and I won't need to eat my DS4

Not so fast sunshine! I have plans for you, involving a dedicated "WowbaggerBR Eats His DS4 Thread" & pressure to make a You Tube video for the OP!

I hope they do support the older wheels just to see that, HA-ha!

:mischievous: ;)

Must have missed that :)
The last days i was actually under the assumption they would make their old wheels compatible like Fanatec did... silly me.

Safest bet in the world.

We'll see, MWUHAHAHAHAAA!

i'm impatient to get home, install the patch, re-calibrate the wheel ( hope to have no issue) and play properly.

Quick question, has the patch been rolled out by different time zones / areas? I'm on PC and very unfamiliar with Steam and how it operates, how do I know if the game is up to date? I haven't seen any downloads start or any information mentioning a patch.

Thanks

Bloody hell, my FFB tune i just did during practice in career mode, defaulted again after i went out for a lap... :indiff:
