pCARS Patch Notes - 1.4

The only way I have gotten rid of the ghosting like the backgrounds etc is to set it to zero.
still good thst it's gone though. i've left mine on 20. can't see too much of a problem, even 30 is not too bad, but any higher and it comes back. looks a lot more apparent after seeing the game without any ghosts. it seems like the devs must be happy with it no more than 20 as that's the new default look for the game. slightly surprised they didn't leave it as we've all been used to and gave us the option to lower it, but they've done it for us. definite improvement

I'm on May way at home from work .
I'm bloody curious about the ghosting .
And where do we find that beautifully slider ?

definite improvement to ghosting after the patch. it defaults to 20 on the slider but it looks like that's lower than before as standard. be nice to know where on the slider the launch version sat. i cranked it up to 100 and it looked nasty; slight movements to the car caused big ghosting to trees and so on. at 20 even the replays lost their ghosts, which is great, and i haven't noticed a big increase of jaggies so far. will play around some more and find a nice balance, or rather find how high the slider can be set until i notice the blurring again. this temporal level slider is really a good thing.

20 is fine for me. I find neither the jaggies or the blurring is really noticeable. Given that the slider was introduced to dial out the blur I would say the setting before the patch was 100. I tried 100 and it looks very similar to what I was seeing before.

What mode is your wheel in PC or PS3?
Cheers

You have to use it in PC mode for Project CARS, however, I never bothered even plugging it in because of all the severe issues with this wheel. So, today will be my first time.

👍

How does it look at 0?

I wonder if there's the ps4 fps improvement sms stated and how big it is...

Hope more drivers will be back now that t500 is working...

OK I'll be first to start the thread.

Thrustmaster T300 wheel not recognised in game. (see below problem solved)

You must now start the game from the wheel. IT WILL NOT recognise the wheel once the game is running no matter what I do. The wheel works fine back on the XMB screen but not in the game. The only two buttons that work are the PS and the Share button.

Solution: Stop game, start wheel, start game from wheel, everything now works. *IF* you disconnect the USB to the wheel you must quit the game and re-start the game from the wheel.

Issue #2 I have just tried a couple of cars RUF CRT3 and Mitsy Lancer I have *NO* Force Feedback what so ever:-( Even though I have checked my settings and they all appear as they were before. The CRT3 was running default anyway.

EDIT: Solution: Unlike every other PS game I have had that installs an update and just works *YOU MUST* re-boot the PS4 system for PCARS.

Once you have done a hard reboot it appears to have solved the problems. I can now reboot the wheel from inside the game and it will now work and the FFB is back as well.

NOTE: putting the PS4 system in sleep mode is not good enough it MUST be "RESTARTED"

I hope this helps some others because it sure caught me out.

Big sigh of relief here :-) I am sure I am not the only one that is going to fall for this. I hope this saves some people some grief.

I will now carry on see what else I can find.

Edit: Problem still there. Season 6 3/3 Watkins Glen US Super Car Challenge CTR3. Started the practice session, left pits and no Force Feedback. Zero, ziltch, nuthin'. Unplugged USB to re-boot wheel, took game off pause and the FF is back. Now the random clipping issue is here as described below :-(

Edit: Problem #2

Random Wheel Clipping is still there. (Wheel buzzes and white line under yellow FFB line in Telemetry goes wild).
Season 6 Historic GT5 Pan-Euro-Cup Round 2 at Catalunya. In Practice the wheel was clipping very badly. I did nothing, made no adjustments, nothing. I drove (putting up with it) until end of session. I then went straight to Qualifying - no more clipping.

Just like before the update - random. Better put this on the "To Do" list SMS ;-)

thanks for evidencing it.

However is Thrustmaster recommended on their facebook page to never plug the wheel into ps4 when is already on and never when game has already been launched.

I always power-on the ps4 with the wheel in and through the wheel.

Can I DL the patch to my PS4 while I'm at work? Is it out in the US yet?

Wheel issues such as this...are these only found with pCARS on the PS4? Drive Club have any wheel/peripheral problems?

TWO IMPORTANT REMARKS ABOUT STEERING WHEELS ON PS4™
Two important remarks to avoid some Force Feedback or calibration issues in PlayStation®4 games

# REMARK No.1: On your PS4™ system, DISABLE the KEEP APPLICATION SUSPENDED functionality for the REST MODE.
For this, go to Settings / Power Saving Settings / Set Functions Available in Rest Mode.
Here we highly recommend to disable the Keep Application Suspended box, mostly if you use the REST MODE to turn off your PS4™.

# REMARK No.2: The steering wheel must ALWAYS be connected to the console before starting the game.
Furthermore, NEVER disconnect and reconnect the USB plug of the wheel when your game is launched and opened
. This can be done only when the game is completely exited!
For this, press the PS button for 2 seconds and select Close Application then Ok.

I have over 95 hours on this game now, I have had hundreds of occasions when I start at a new track or even a different session and I must reboot my wheel because it is pulling 45degrees left or pedals are not working, or it is buzzing, or some other stupid issue has occurred :-(

Also the wheel would not be recognised unless the game was first up and running. Which kinda puts a spanner in the works of what you just said.

I am about to shut everything down and start from scratch again and see how I go. The main point is, it is not working like it did before - as in, it is not working at all :-(

EDIT: this has fixed the issues. *YOU MUST* do a PS4 system reboot once the update file has installed. Putting it in sleep mode is not sufficient.

How do we switch between DS4 & wheel if we can't turn the wheel on & off while in-game?

Not enough buttons on some wheels to navigate the game properly.

This makes a bit of a joke of USB "Plug 'n' Play" doesn't it? ;-)
