PENALTY SYSTEM IS STILL A PIECE OF ****!!!

clean race and daddy kaz derank me to SR C for no actual reason , trying to recover back to S with 7x clean race in the past few day and only get 2 point per day absolute mad man

It's not actually clean if you rub while racing. Clean race bonus means nothing, just that you stayed on the track and didn't hit anyone too hard. Every little contact deducts SR. When the 3 contact circles light up, you likely lose some SR.

It's pretty harsh. I just had a Ford slide into me, bumped him twice as there was no where to go while he spun, 1 sec penalty, -1 SR for the C race while I stayed on the track and hit nothing else for the rest of the race. Although there was one rub in the last lap with no effect to anyone yet it probably took some SR as well. There should be a star for a contact free race.

Sorry if it was already answered here, I did not read all the 28 pages.
Where can we get the penalty system information for real life racing categories?
TIA

I'm new to this board how do I upload a video? Made my first post on Friday but have a couple of short video clips from latest races I want to see if someone can explain how I got SR down both times.

Upload it to youtube, then link it here

Ok hope this works:

Can anyone please let me know why I got SR down for both of these contacts. The first clip there was nothing before this, I thought I gave him plenty of room up the inside as I saw him coming. 2nd clip is just me going around the outside and getting double tapped, both instances I got SR down.

The game would penalize any contact you make with another car, regardless of fault. It goes both ways, so the other car most likely recieved an SR down as well

But I've had slight contact before and not had SR down pop up, couldn't see I'd done anything wrong here and thought maybe there's a contact glitch people are exploiting where if they hit your side you get a penalty? Is it just as simple as minor contact the system has penalized me for (but doesn't always happen), just random contact the game randomly decides, not specific instances?

Yeah, the SR pop up is inconsistent at best. I'm guessing there's either some parameters that decide whether or not a contact will result in an SR down arrow or it's like the previous update where the arrow sometimes doesn't show at all

This old story again about bad penalty system....

It's improved somewhat but still floored. I too have suffered from this with people hitting me in the rear and I get a SR loss, even more so when someone makes you spin off....

You've recorded two videos of replays using your phone. That makes it very difficult to explain anything.

The PS4 will export directly to YouTube. Moreover, replays don't show where or when you get penalties; only live game play will do that. The PS4 will - and does, by default - capture live game play. You only need to hit the Share button and Save Video Clip (square) to capture the last 15 minutes (default setting) of live game play. Or you can start it recording to a video clip file by double-tapping the Share button to start, and double-tapping again to stop. There's also video editing tools on the PS4 itself if you want to trim a clip down, before exporting it to YouTube.

The latest update turned the SR Down notifications back on. You were already getting SR deductions for anything above the lightest contact, however it didn't tell you until you suddenly see a red rating at the end. (possibly with clean race bonus)

Any contact is put on both player's responsibility, no matter how unfair. If one of you goes off track after contact, the other gets a penalty. Again it doesn't matter what happens. It can get so ridiculous that you will get a penalty when hit from behind by someone not braking in time and the car behind loses control as result. Or when hit in a 'cheat' zone, T1 at red bull ring for example. Many people like to take very wide over the red zone. You don't get a track cut penalty there, yet the game still considers it off-track for contact penalties. Thus if you get hit from behind in that corner and the car behind you takes the wide path, you get 3 sec penalty next to SR Down.

SR Down without a time penalty luckily isn't that big of a point drop. When you get a time penalty it's about double the time penalty in SR points deducted.

Thank you both for the replies explains a lot of what's been happening Whilst I like the idea of rubbing and contact (real racing does, especially V8 Supercars and Touring Cars) maybe everyone is a ghost and we're all racing the same time but it becomes a time trial. Actually even after writing that out I'd still prefer how it is, just ghost racing would be a bit boring. Guess there's no easy solution.

I got hit in the rear twice on Race B today, at turn 3 and 4 on lap 1. I got an Orange Sr and a Red S at the end of the race. The 2 drivers that hit me both received a Blue S at the end?

How does that happen?

You got hit twice, they both hit you once. 1 hit is blue, 1+1 is red.

You have a certain 'budget' per race you earn with the green SR arrows by staying on the road for each sector. The more you stay on the road the higher you get to the maximum budget for that race. When you get hit 1 to 10 SR is taken from the total depending on the kind of hit. Two big hits can use up your entire 'budget' for a daily C race. A and B are usually only worth 4 to 7 points per race, C can be over 20 for one race. On race B it's quite easy to get a red rating for 2 hits, while you can still escape with blue for a single hit.

Have you tried Trackmania Turbo online? One hundred players ghosted all trying to set the fastest time for 10 minutes on a tiny track. It's pure madness!

Rubbing and contact would be fine in a LAN environment. With all kinds of different ISPs and possibly thousands of miles between players, lag will exaggerate any contact and causes late braking, late acceleration, late corrections. At 100 meters per second (224 mph), every 10ms of lag is a meter difference of where the car actually is. Some older 4K tvs also pile another 150ms of display lag on top!

It wouldn't be so bad if internet lag was constant and stable, however lag spikes happen all the time. Driving around with a lot of lag is actually an advantage in this game (upstream lag almost makes you invulnerable while auto punting other cars out of the way)

You'd think PD would learn by now...

What I find worse is that you have to take this route now (rather than follow the track) otherwise you have sets of drivers with different braking points. If you get hit by a person taking that line in the corner (when you are using the actual track) and they follow their normal wide line you get a penalty because the game deems they have left the track after a collision

PD never learns, did they ever fix the Horse thief mile skip the last sector exploit?
Instead of fixing Sarthe's last chicane exploit, PD messed up all the working track limits. Same thing happened there on tertre rouge.

Yep. And now, having viewed all the top 10 (well, 9) replays, it makes sense why I get smashed about on the first two laps (before the pack gets stretched out a bit). Every. Single. Time.

Not that that is going to make me join them. 🤬 the dirty, cheating 🤬 🤬.

They did learn. In GT6. Then they unlearned it in GTS. And will probably learn it again. Then unlearn it in GT7.

Rinse and repeat.

The list of things that got fixed in an update in GT6 and then needed the same fix in GTS is long and painful.

Remembering your lobby preferences for one. GT6 had an update so that when you returned to the lobby, all your filters were still in place. Now they aren't. What is so hard with looking at the internal update docs, and making sure the work you already did doesn't have to be done again? :banghead:

Yes, the SR system is a mess. It's more about to try to keep calm and go on than get frustrated, it's just a game with a temporary bad experience, I hope. And there's another thing, most of the players out there don't really know how to play with the analog stick of the Dual Shock which is making an even bigger mess to the game and its SR system. Let's just hope the game gets better in this subject.

But it does
So it does! I've not really been in the online lobby for months, I'm sure it used to show how many laps the host has set but not if there was an active race. When did they change that? It used to 🤬 me off going into a room only to find they were on lap 1 of a 3 lap race around the Nordschleife. Well, they've either changed it or I've been seriously blonde!

That's happened to me three times now in the last day, finally dropping me down to SR-A today because of it... its ridiculous.

Today I was hit by another car turning into the hairpin at the top of the hill at the Red Bull Ring, took me off the track, I then got a 4 second penalty for re-entering the circuit and the driver who hit me got nothing at all...

This is seriously getting infuriating, as are the track limit abuses. In the same race I got a .4 second penalty for slightly too far over the kerbs on the penultimate corner, yet others take that massively wide line in turn 1 and get nothing for it...

First lap of last night's FIA Nurburgring race was outrageous. At T1 some complete jackass late braked and ran into 5-6 cars, mine included. I was merely a passenger as my car pinballed off everyone around me before spinning me off track (backwards of course). I went from 7th to dead last, AND was given a 3.000 second penalty. Seriously WTF this is such crap.

Twice yesterday I got bumped off the track in the 1st turn of the gr. 2 race, matching the braking point of the cars in front of me. Both times it gave me SR deduction, and one time a 2 sec penalty. There's work to be done...
